The dash is cracked in 2 places. 1 looks like it might affect the passenger airbag.
The dash in my car cracked for no reason. what concerns me is that the crack is next to the airbag on the passenger side. if this airbag were to deploy it could cause the broken pieces of dash to turn into projectiles causing a dangerous if not deadly injury. this vehicle has never been on anything but smooth paved roads. the vehicle only has 61,200 miles on it. we were on an interstate when this occurred.
Came out of work in january and found the dashboard is cracked behind the steering wheel.

The dash is cracking in multiple places on driver side above instrument panel and also is cracking around the airbag on passenger side as well, i am worried about the safety of myself as well as my passengers in case of an accident, of pieces flying from dash in case of a frontal collision. gm needs to recall due to problem
The dashboard has a diagonal crack from the upper left hand corner of the air bag cover toward the driver and window. it is approximately 1 inch long and .060 wide. there is also a crack on the dash above the instrument gauges that is approximately 3 inches long and some what thin and jagged. it starts slight left of the drivers line of sight where there is a transition radius and runs toward the windshield. both of these cracks occurred during freezing outside temperatfures.

The dash has cracked from the drivers side just above the gauge cluster to the passenger side airbag. the dash is cracked in 3 different locations. see attached pics.
The dashboard in my 2011 chevy tahoe began cracking at approxmately 70k miles. in the event of a crash i'm concerned for my family's safefty as the dashboard continues to crack in a spiderweb fashon. i've contacted my chevrolet customer service and have been told that my vehicles original 3 year/36,000 mile warranty has expired and i can contact my local dealership to have the defect fixed at my expense. this vehicle was $55k brand new and it is clearly a manufacturer defect for the dashboard to crack after 4 years or any other time and expecting customes to pay over $1000 to correct this issue is unacceptable. this is a defect that should be corrected at no cost to vehicle owners.
Cracked dash - the dash on the car has cracks in multiple areas near air bag and over the odomoter. very common issue on this car. chevy even improved this piece for future cars but wont acknowledge this was a defect to begin with.
Purchased vehicle used in november 2015. there was a crack in the dashboard adjacent to the passenger side airbag. it currently has not gotten worse. in the last two days a new larger crack seems to be progressing on the hump of dash above the steering wheel. after researching it seems this is a consistent issue with this model for years 2007-2011. my coworker has a 2007 and has suffered with same problems. another coworker who owns a toyota received official information telling her that there are issues relating to cracking dashboards and if it is near the airbag the airbag can spontaneously deploy and not to let people sit in the front seat. if this is the same for the tahoe i am deeply concerned for my safety and others who ride with me. especially since this vehicle is apart of airbag recall and is waiting to be fixed. the crack was noticed while the vehicle was stationary. earlier in the week while driving to work i heard a cracking sound but did not see anything obvious at the time.

There is a crack in the left upper side of the dash where the passenger airbag is. this happened with around 60k miles on it.

Purchased a used 2011 chevrolet tahoe with 56,000 miles and it has a cracked dashboard above the speedometer cluster. spoke with the chevrolet dealer where i purchased the vehicle and they stated chevrolet will not replace the defective dashboard.

I have a large crack going down the dashboard of my truck the stems directly from the passenger airbag. i have contacted both the dealer as well as chevrolet regarding this issue and have not been able to find a solution. i am concerned that if there would be some sort of an accident where the airbag deployed, my dash would either improperly support the airbag at explosion or pieces of scrap plastic would fly around the cabin

My dash board in my vehicle is cracking for no reason! it is cracking in 2 different spots. one in front of driver but the one that really concerns me is the one on passenger side. the crack goes to the air bag and i'm so scared my bag will deploy randomly like the crack appeared or if it deploys upon impact sharp hard plastic edges can be harmful! this is not just cosmetic and even if it were chevrolet needs to be held accountable!
The upper dashboard on my 2011 chevy tahoe has numerous cracks and is literally falling apart. it should be noted that it is also a major safety hazard, because a cracked dashboard, particularly one that is damaged around the passenger-side airbag, can yield flying projectiles in the event that an accident triggers the airbag to deploy. apparently this is a well-known and documented issue but gm has yet to issue a recall or offered to investigate at all on a case by case basis.
My 2011 chevy tahoe has cracks that appeared on the dashboard and just keep getting worse. it has low miles and has been kept in the garage. the drivers side air bag is also located in the dasha and i am concerned if it what will happen if it deploys.
Airbag recall but gm is not making any effort to replace the airbag. dash is cracked and appears to be a manufacturing defect.

My tahoe was parked when i noticed 2 cracks on the left hand corner by the passenger side airbag on my dashboard. i also have a really large crack on the dashboard above the instrument panel . i am concerned that airbag will not deploy correctly if i were in an accident.
Dashboard cracks. in 2 different areas of my dash, cracks start from the front of the vehicle running back towards the front seats. the crack on the passenger side connects to the airbag compartment. if the airbag were to deploy, it seems plastic shards may become projectiles in the passenger compartment. this seems to be a common problem for this year and make vehicle, according to online posts. i have 1989, 2006, 2008 year vehicles that the dash is fully intact.

The dashboard has cracks in multiple areas which has created a safety concern if the airbags were to deploy. i'm concerned that the plastic that is cracked could fly/hit driver/passenger in the case of airbag deployment.

A random crack, about 2" long, appeared in dash just above and to the right of steering wheel. further research showed that this is a common occurrence with this make and mode during 2007-2011 and gm is aware but is doing nothing about it.
2011 chevrolet tahoe. only have 82000 miles on it. it has developed a crack in the dash on the drivers side that is also causing a rattle. it keeps getting longer.
Dashboard has 3 cracks. one next to passenger airbag, one that starts close to windshield and moves towards the dash gauges straight at the driver and the last one is next to the gauge crack but smaller. it seems this is a constant problem with gm. it has to be a safety issue with it being next to airbag and in front of driver as well. these cracks appear because of the cheap plastic and nothing else.
2011 chevy tahoe 24k miles dash cover is cracked. vehicle is meticulously maintained and the dash has cracked. worried about further degradation especially around air bag as this seems to be a widespread issue with this vehicle.
I have a crack in my dash that is near the top left hand corner of my airbag panel. also, there is another crack that goes over the top of my instrument panel. the cracks appeared out of nowhere. the vehicle was not involved in any kind of wreck. the cracks were pointed out to me when i took the vehicle in for an oil change appx. six months ago. i am trying to trade in my vehicle and i am getting $1,000 hit on the trade-in amount offered. the more i investigate it seems this is a common problem. why has there not been a recall????????????????
Takata recall the dashboard is cracking along the airbag on the passenger side and over the driver side tachometer. my concern is when and if the airbag should deploy, there might possibly be projectiles from this defective crack. over the past couple of weeks, the crack above the tachometer keeps getting larger. the dash is cracked all of the time when stationary and moving. i went to the local chevrolet dealership. the service manager stated that the cracked dash was a defect for sure. he also stated that they see this problem all of the time. when we called gm assistance, they stated they would not pay for it because it was out of warranty and there were no recalls on the dash. this is similar to other complaints i have seen on the internet. i am not sure exactly when the dash first cracked because my wife is the primary driver and is not tall enough to see over the dash in a seated position. i drove her car and noticed it march of 2016, but it could have happened sooner.

Takata recall - my dash is cracked from drivers column to the passenger airbag. other cracks in the surface are starting to form...i hope my family is never in a crash it bothers me to think the dashboard will crumble, break apart and could cause other injuries.
