Recently reported VISIBILITY problems on 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe

Hinge on rear liftgate window separated from the window and prevented window from latching. (the hinge failure cocked the window and made it crooked on the liftgate.) this window has only been opened maybe 2 - 3 dozen times total in 7 years. if i hadn't been focused, i might have driven off and window might have blown off the vehicle as most of my driving is on highways. if someone else had been driving it and not noticed the imperfect way the window closed (which would be probable), the window most assuredly would have blown off due to wind turbulence. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet tahoe. the contact started the ignition and exited the vehicle. a few moments later, smoke began to emit through the windows and flames erupted from the dashboard on the passenger's side, which burned a hole in the windshield glass. the contact was able to extinguish the fire and the vehicle was destroyed beyond repair. the failure was contributed to a faulty heater blower. the manufacturer was notified of the incident who informed the contact that there were no recalls related to the defect. the manufacturer had however, issued a customer satisfaction campaign pertaining to the heater blower. the approximate failure mileage was 101,000. updated 06/26/12 *bf

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet tahoe. while driving 65 mph the rear window separated from its frame. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the technician could not identify the cause of the failure. the current and failure mileages were 64000.

I was driving down one of the busy roads in manatee county, and the back hatch glass of my 2004 chevy tahoe blew off of my car. it went air born and landed in the south bound lane almost on top of a car. if the car had not slammed on its brakes and swerved, it could have killed someone. i contacted the dealership, and the will not fix the problem. the hinges are still attached to my vehicle and the insurance company wants a $500 deductible. i know i have been online researching this kind of incident and i am not the only person to have this problem. i feel like it should be a recall before someone gets killed. it is not normal for a 4 year old vehicle to have its glass blow off. *tr

My truck is blowing hot on driver side and cold on the passenger side. there are hundreds of people out their with the same isse. this should be a recall by gm see this web site for more details http://autoforum.classifieds1000.com/chevrolet-silverado_1500_pickup/dual_ac_blows_cold_air_on_passenger_but_hot_on_driver. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet tahoe. while driving approximately 20 mph, the rear glass fell onto the ground, but did not break. the current mileage was 41,000 and failure mileage was 35,000. updated 11/07/08 *bf updated 11/13/08. *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 chevrolet tahoe. while sitting at a stop light the speedometer read 100 mph. the failure was not diagnosed by a dealer. when the windshield wipers were turned on they would not shut off until the vehicle was turned off. the current and failure mileages were 74,000.

Well where should i begin, the first problem was the clunking of the front end when going in and out of driveways, the first steering shaft was replaced, a couple of months later the speedometer started making noise, that was replaced, then the clunking noise reappeared, this time it supposedly needed to be lubed, it was fine, however noise reappeared, then the second shaft was installed, the tire sensor light intermittently comes on when ever it feels like it, and tire pressure is normal, now the windshield wipers will not shut off when it rains except when you turn the vehicle off, however they come back on when you restart the car after hours of sitting, my wife is expecting our second child and also drive my 5 year old in this vehicle, this car is piece junk, gm needs to take back pride in there craftsmanship step up to the plate like there consumers did and fix this ?!@#$%! they need to extend there warranties because there cars do not last as they mislead you to believe!!! *tr

The back heater has completely failed. the dealership has told us that this is a recurring problem and gm has issued a service advisory notice. but they can not help us on the problem, now it is going to cost us over 700 dollars to repair the problem, they said that the module, the actuator and the heater doors have failed. they have to replace all the parts and it will take 4 days to fix the problem. *tr

Defroster works intermittently. when the consumer gets the defroster to come on it does not clear the entire windshield. while driving on the highway, it stops working. consumer has to pull off of the highway and wait for it to start working again. *ak manufacturer was notified, but not willing to do anything. *tt

When driving in the rain or snow windshield fogged up, making it very difficult for the driver to see out of the windshield. consumer kept the defroster on, but the problem still recurred. *ak
