Dt: 2002 chevrolet tahoe. having problem with the abs system. it happened three times. the last time it happened on april 15, 2005 caroline was coming off ramp at 10 mph there was water draining off side, there was no warning light, the brake pedal went all the way down, and the car did not stop. the car was taken to the dealer on april 18,2005, and the dealer stated there was nothing wrong with the abs system. *ak driver's front door seems to fill with water. no water found in door. door is designed to allow water to go in door and drain out bottom. idle is rough. dealer let vehicle idle in stall for approximately 30 minutes with no rough idle noted. *tt

Dt: the 2002 tahoe abs defect in them. called gm they are not going to warranty the vehicles in new hampshire, because they have not received a recall letter. there is no recall in new hampshire, because they are recall the ones canada. the brakes at a slow speed are activating, and took to a gm dealer and gm will not reimburse. testing and found the abs sensors corroded and gap spread, per gm tech at dealership. the consumer has corrected the problem at own expense and wants reimbursment!! *nm

Brakes faded and pulsated, when the brake pedal was depressed, did not occur everytime, mainly slower speeds. brakes steadily got worse. first time it occurred had to turn to avoid striking car in front. front wheel hubs and bearings along with rusted brake rotors and brake pads were replaced. brake pads only making contact with less than one inch of rotor

The abs activates at slow speeds(anything below 10 mph) whether you are going forward or reverse. it causes the vehicle to travel longer distances in order to stop, not mentioning scareing the devil out of the driver. i have had the brake pads replaced and it seems to do it more often.

At slow speeds and usually under damp conditions, the antilock brakes on my 2002 tahoe take hold when i am stopping and allow the car to continue at least 10 feet ahead into the roadway with no stopping the vehicle. condition can easily cause accidents as i have had numerous close calls. no codes appear on auto computer when i take it to the dealer. there is a recall #05v379000 that exactly explains the situation but since my vin# does not seem to be included in the recall, chevrolet will do nothing about the situation which has been ongoing since march of 2004. i have had the vehicle in many times and just discovered on my own that sept 22, 2005 this recall came out. i had the vehicle to sigel chevrolet for the third time on sept 14, 2005 and was once again told that the brakes were functioning properly. they could not duplicate the situation so it must not be happening. when i nearly hit our garage door on 11/16/2007 with my husband as a passenger in the car, i went looking for any recall information and found that there was one out there but the dealer told me it did not apply to me and so did chevrolet customer service who has a file on this now (#71-578554426) but they still denied there is anything they should be doing. on 11/30/07 i took the vehicle in again for a diagnosis as suggested by chevrolet customer service and again they found nothing but i requested the dealer perform the remedy that is explained on the recall notice and i paid for that service to be done. *tr

A.b.s. light comes on intermit., when taken to local dealer, they just go under the dash and "reset" the a.b.s. "sensor" after six months, the light comes on and off at different times. they want me to spend $700 . do i have any recourse? *nm

Tl*the contact owns a 2002 chevrolet tahoe. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer on four occasions. while driving 10 mph, the abs activates unexpectedly. the risk of a serious crash or injury was increased. the vehicle was repaired twice according to nhtsa campaign id number 05v379000 (service brakes, hydraulic:anti lock). in addition, the wheel speed sensor was replaced. all of the remedies have been insufficient to date. the manufacturer did not assist. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 20,000 and current mileage was 108,000.

While driving and/or braking, steering wheel will pull to the left. when braking, steering pullled sharply to the left, resulting in vehicle spinning out twice.*ak dealer found caster and camber out of alignment and performed alignment. *tt

Transmission takes 30 seconds to shift to second gear. vehicle has been taken to dealer twice, cannot remedy the problem.*ak after the second attempt, the transmission was replaced. the vehicle still makes noises as if the transmission was not adjusted correctly. the vehicle also doesn't run the same. it feels as if the vehicle loses power. there is a scraping noise that is heard from the rear wheels. the brakes were replaced and the rotors deglazed. *jg

While driving, applied brakes and without warning all four wheels locked up, resulting in vehicle skidding out of control, this malfunction was not serviced by dealer. *ak the dealer refused to service vehicle. they took the wheels off and took pictures of the brakes, the chassis, under carriage and the speedometer. the pictures were sent to the factory for evaluation. they stated that nothing was wrong with the vehicle. the vehicle has experienced problems with the braking on four different occasions driven by different people. gm refuses to acknowledge that there is something wrong with the brake system on this vehicle. *jg

Chevrolet has 3 other cases open that have not been resolved. when applying the brakes hard to stop suddenly the vehicle pulls hard to the right. the dealership has tried tires, brake pads, rotors etc.. it appears all new tahoes do this as i drove another brand new one and it does the same thing. the service manager has opened tac case # 5303279 with chevrolet. the service manager informed me that chevrolet already has 3 unresolved cases. the service manager said the problem is in the brake system as the rear passenger brake seems to activate first when brakes are applied hard for a sudden stop. this throws the rest of the vehicle to track to the right which must be abruptly corrected by the driver. the service manager informed me that chevrolet has no fix. the service manager also said they clamped the rear brake lines on my vehicle and this fixed the problem, which proves the problem is in the rear brake system. i am very concerned as i bought this vehicle to tow my boat. if i must apply the brakes suddenly (which can happen quite often when towing) i will lose control of the vehicle. the problem is not noticeable under slow/smooth braking. the problem is worse the faster you are going. therefore, at highway speed the vehicle will easily lose control. i test drove another brand new tahoe at the dealership and it has the exact same problem. the service manager also said he tested a used one and it had the problem as well.*ak
