In 2006, my drivers side mirror was leaking a black gel-like substance. after this started to happen, i noticed a circular "oily residue-look" in the middle of the mirror. it looks like oil was rubbed in the center of the mirror. now all images in the mirror have a "double-vision, blurry" effect... and the mirror has lost the "dimming effect" for the headlights of the cars behind me.. a lot glare is present at nighttime. dealers recommended replacement.. at my expense.

In 2006, i noticed that my driver's side mirror was leaking the green "goo" that dims headlights reflecting in it at night. once all of it was leaked out an oval, that had the appearance of an oil slick, came in the middle of the mirror. now, the silver top layer of the mirror appears to be sliding off. it had a "funhouse mirror" appearance to it once the "goo" started leaking out of it, but now it is much, much worse. everything is very blurry, you can't see how to back the vehicle at night, and it is extremely difficult during the day. i have inquired twice about the potential of a recall on this issue, and of course, chevrolet has downplayed this. the mirror itself costs over $400 - not the entire casing. the entire casing is over $500. there was no incident, accident, or injury to the vehicle that caused this problem. it just happened. i also see many tahoes with these same mirrors with the same problem riding around the town where i live and work. *tr

Dt*: the contact stated that in 2005 the front end was replaced due to a lock up while making a turn. the dealer determined it was due to catastrophic failure. on 06/01/06, there were problems with the front abs sensor. the brakes would not work properly at a very low speed. the vehicle was taken to the service dealer on 06/16/2006 where the dealer determined this abs sensor failure was recalled and the remedy repair was already process on the vehicle. the hub was referenced as the cause of the abs failure but was not included in the recall. the vehicle can not be driven because it is unsafe. the manufacturer alerted the contact the vehicle would not be repair under the recall or warranty until a manufacturer investigator inspects the vehicle in a month. the rear differential was replaced. the driver side windshield wiper arm was replaced. updated 07/25/06. *jb

Dt: hinge on the glass of the rear window separated during an extremely hot day of 100 degree plus temperature. the glass did not break but only separated into pieces. this happened on a 2002 chevrolet tahoe rear lift glass. if the back lift glass door was opened and the hinge fully separated the glass could fall off on a person or ultimately fall out of the hinge at highway speeds. the glass never fully separated;, only one hinge separated. no previous issues with this problem. the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, who stated they would not repair the problem because the glass would not be covered under the warranty. the consumer d noted that the glass and the hinge are together in one manufactured piece. the consumer contacted gm through the better business bureau, and it was later determined that gm would not cover the repairs. the cost for the repair was $630. the consumer paid out of pocket for the glass and replaced it himself. the consumer noted that the replacement glass and hinge were newly redesigned.
