Replacement front brake rotors installed on a 1999 chevy tahoe 2 door and driven approximately 100 miles in 15 mile increments resulted in significant intereference wear between the disc brake pad backing plates and the cylindrical portion of the brake rotors, with significant heat generation, noise, and odor. subsequent inspection of the replacement rotors and the oem rotors revealed that the replacement rotors diameter of the cylindrical portion that covers the vehicle hub were approximately 3/16 larger diameter than the oem rotors. replacement rotors have been returned to the seller, paul do at cquencemotorsports, 4933 pearce street, apt. b, huntington beach, ca 92649. i believe the rotors were manufactured in china, their part number is 5569 min thk 30.86mm pt14 bt. fortunately, the problem was discovered before significant vehicle damage occured. the stock rotors were reinstalled without interference. old part unavailable, it was returned to seller under warranty.*ak

I have a 1999 chevrolet tahoe 4x4 lt. in the last few months i have had to replace the front brake pads and rotors every 5,000 miles. i am now looking to spend another $600 to replace them again. i have had them looked at each time, and i am told there is nothing wrong with the calipers and they have no reason as to why the rotors are being warped. the most recent time i took in the tahoe i was told the rotors were blue due to the heat from the pads, but again there is nothing wrong with the calipers or anything else. i have not been carrying any heavy loads in the vehicle, or driving hard. most of the miles are from driving on the highway. i have never taken it off roading. *ak
I was/am having some steering problems on my 1999 chevy tahoe. on oct. 13, 2003 i took my tahoe into my dealership. discovered my sway bar was cracked in half. they said they have never seen such a thing. i do not drive on anything but road surfaces, nor do i drive eradicated. it cost about $300 to have it replaced. the dealership told me to file a complaint and see if gm would cover cost. i never heard back from gm. also... i am having some steering issues for about 5 months now, about the same time my sway bar was cracked in half. my steering wheel seems to be very sensitive and will jerk to the left or right quite often. i'll be holding the steering wheel and all of a sudden it jerk an inch or two either way for no apparent reason. it happens most often when i'm turning right, but will occur at least once or twice every mile. some days seem better than others. i thought it might be my tires so i had them replaced and had the alignment and balanced adjusted decemeber 29th, 2003. it is still doing the same thing. it feels like i'm going to lose control of my steering. what should i do? this problem never went away after i had my sway bar replaced. please advise. thank you! *la
Additional components replaced, these included:alternator replaced twiced, battery replaced, injectors plugging treated three times, tail shaft leaking - replaced, intake manifold replaced, stereo replaced, tall lamp circuit board replaced (both, intrument cluster replaced twice - unsure in current mileage readings are correct, head lamps continue to flicker whil edriving replaced three times, water pump replaced, ball joints replaced, and sterring components replaced. continual problems and no answers.
Truck was taken in repeatedly for brakes, transmission, air conditioner and headlights prior to warranty expiration and was told they could not duplicate the problem or it was under "chev specs" or we were experiencing anti-lock brakes. water pump began leaking and had to be replaced 2200 miles outside of warranty. entire brake system, lines-calipers, everything had to be replaced because "foreign fluid corroded" the system. no one has touched the brakes but the dealer. we repeatedly complained about the brakes taking too long to stop the vehicle, having a spongy feel and absolutely no confidence that they would stop in an emergency situation. overall, the brakes just did not feel safe and we reported this when the vehicle was still under warranty. intake manifold is leaking and needs to be replaced. battery exploded and leaked battery acid everywhere damaging other engine parts. transmission is in need of an overhaul/replacement either as a direct result of the battery exploding or mere coincidence considering we have always complained that something was wrong with the transmission and you could push the truck while in park a full foot. the air conditioner has always leaked after driving approx. 2 hr as well as the driver's side high beam headlight always has water in it. detailed complaints have been filed with the attorney generals of az and fl, as well as copies sent to the dealer, manufacturer and leasing company involved. chevrolet should be ashamed of the shoddy product that rolled off their assembly line and the manner in which they conduct business surrounding consumer complaints generated as a direct result from poor workmanship at one of their factories. there is a long list of "cosmetic" defects as well. for instance, the custom leather seats that we paid extra for are wearing holes in them; the driver's side door handle is cracked, drink holders are rusting, and the list goes on and on.
Time of delevery bumper was rusted. yh
