Recently reported FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL problems on 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

2001 chevy silverado diesel - doing 65 mph on the highway - motor starting skipping and then had a loss of power. diesel fuel can be smelled. pulled off highway and checked the truck. diesel fuel was found blown all over the undercarriage including the exhaust. i was worried that the truck would catch on fire. brought the truck to a chevy dealer to get checked out and found out it was caused by faulty injectors that chevy is aware of but if the truck is over 7 years old and is not covered by the "defective injector warranty". i don't understand how they issued a warranty on the part because they were aware that it was defective instead of having the part recalled. *tr
