I just bought a used 2001 chevy silverado on 1/29/09 k2500 the abs lights keep coming on and now my transmission is slipping or something when i get up to 65 mph the truck starts vibrating and the transmission makes a loud clunk noise i only had the truck for a day then had to bring it back to have the knock sensor and the rattling noise checked they told me it was a hub that i had to pay for after they gave me a work order that was suppose to be fixed also the check engine light keeps coming on and they said that was also the knock sensor and said it was replaced but ten minutes after they fixed it the check engine light was on and the truck has been leaking oil that they said was fixed i would like help to see if i can get these problems fixed or my money back thank you *tr

I was towing my fifth wheel trailer when i noticed the truck started bouncing violently. i looked in my side mirror and noticed the rear wheel wobbling, so i pulled over and changed to my spare tire. i continued driving for approximately another 20 miles when the bouncing started again. it was the other rear tire. i had to call someone to bring me another tire in order to make it back home. i am putting (4) new tires on the truck. the truck is a 2001 chevy 2500hd with only 24000 miles on it. both tires have tread separation on them. *tr

Tire failure, tread separation, firestone steeltex radial a/t, lt245/75r16 120/116r, load range e, canada 33777urbn05327-1. *nm

I had my firestone steeltex radial a/t tires rotated by the dealership(jay wolfe cheverolet) on my 2001 silverado 2500 hd short bed crew cab. tire size lt245/75r16 load range e. this was done on 07/05/05. i had noticed a wobble in the steering wheel and a slight pulling to the right, that seemed to become more noticeable the more i drove it. i checked tire pressures, lug nuts, tread wear. everything looked fine. tires have 51,780 miles on them, and were not down to the tread wear indicators. on 07/12/05 i was traveling down i-35 n at 60 mph when all of the sudden the front right tire completeley seperated the tread from the rest of the tire, luckily, the tire did not blow out, and i was able to keep it under control and bring it to a stop on the side of the highway, the tread seperation did quite a bit of damage to the vehicle, right front quarter panel, wheel well shroud, rockerpanel, right outside mirror. i am awaiting an estimate from the body shop. i have replaced all four tires with michelins, that same day. i have kept the failed tire and tread that seperated.

While driving at 70 mph front passenger's side tire separated. as a result, the separating tread damaged the underbody of the vehicle. *ak

September,03 i had one bridgestone dueler lt285/75r16 separate, causing serious vibration. replaced tire with same type tire and remaining tires were inspected by dealer for safety and re-mounted. next week dueler exploded causing $4200 damage to left side of truck and significant hearing loss. the tire was inspected twice by bridgestone. first time they said tire indicated that tire struck something. second time was just a denial as i had asked bridgestone to mark on the tire where it had hit something. i new it had not. mr. sheehan, their insurance adjuster478 7501166, told me they should have paid the claim. i did not include the hearing loss in the claim. numerous people have informed me of the same problems with dueler tires and bridgestones denial/fraud tactics. something needs to be done by the us government to prevent deaths and injuries. *nm

I have my chevy 2500hd in to check all 4 firestone steeltex at oem tires because of sidewall separation concern. i have 26,000 miles on these tires and all are consistent maybe because of recommended tire rotations. i hope i don't have to follow up on this problem for a resolution after the visit to the dealer today.

While driving at 65 mph rear passenger side tire lost all of the tread. several months later, a second tire on the driver's side lost all the tread. these two occurrences caused damage to the fenders on the rear and on some of the undercarriage. dealer and the manufacturer were notified.*ak

Rear passenger tread delaminated from tire while traveling at speed limit on freeway. vehicle pulled over to side of road. the tire was completely inflated...just the treat had seperated from tire causing major damage to vehicle. had not run over anything in roadway to cause this event.....looked up road and found safer and wider spot to change tire....in process of slowly approaching other area.....tire exploded. tire was not at hot temperature. this appears to be a tire defect.*ak

Tire tread came off of tire, damaging right rear fender. *ak

Tire failure of firestone steeltex r4s tire

Driving on freeway when my original equipment firestone steeltex r4s flipped the tread off severely damaging my 2001 chevrolet truck. i replaced all but the tire that failed. *nlm

Tire blewout within seconds and entire tread separated, leading to the tire's total disintegration. *ak

There were two tires that failed. the first firestone tire was a replacement. it was installed at 3000 miles. da432t v611 b1c 2800. the second tire that failed was a firestone tire r4, lt245/75r16 e, dot da432tvn11b1cc07l3200. the problem was discovered prior to full failure. it appeared to be a broken belt or partial tread separation. *jg

A steel belt broke or shifted within the tire. no blowout, or loss of air pressure. noise from tire & poor handling in turns was noticed. this is a gm oem part. 2/3 of the tread was worn off at time of replacement. (tiresize: 24575r16e)
