Problems with 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 TIRES

This started in 2007 with the purchase of goodyear wrangler tires. they have failed in 2009 (paid to replace), 2013, 2014. these tire are used on my2003 chevrolet 2500 diesel pickup and we pull a 5th wheel. the tires continue to separate and the last incident was on march 6th, 2014. this has not resulted in an accident but it could. we were traveling to phoenix az from grapevine, tx when the rear driver side tire separated. we were in the middle of the desert between albuquerque nm and grants nm. the tire was installed on my vehicle in sep 2012 and had approximately 18000 miles. in august of 2013 i had to replace 3 more tires because of tread separation. goodyear will replace them for a price and it's starting to get very costly. they reimburse for about 20% of the cost of a tire. i will buy new tires but not goodyear. they are dangerous. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet silverado 2500 with goodyear wrangler silent armor tires, line size: lt265/75/r16. while driving approximately 45 mph, the contact noticed an abnormal vibration in the steering. the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the tread on the front driver side tire had separated. the contact replaced the tire with the spare and took the failed tire to the tire shop. the tire shop replaced the tire under warranty. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 12t003000 (tires:tread/belt) that could possibly have been related to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the tire size was not included in the recall. the approximate failure mileage was 190,000. updated 03/28/12*lj updated 03/29/12

I just noticed the sidewalls of firestone steeltex tires ( size lt245/75r16 at load range e) cracking in a uniform circle about 2 inches in from the edge of the tread. it looks like they are cracking along a seam in the sidewall of some sort. i reviewed the warranty and it states that dry rot cracks are covered for 4 years from the date of purchase or if no proof of purchase exists, 4 years from the manufactured date the tires came as original equipment on a brand new 2003 silverado 2500 pick up truck that i purchased on april 5, 2003. i am assuming that date qualifies as the date of my purchase of the tires. i had the local firestone dealer in haysville, north carolina look at them and his position is that since the tires were manufactured between 20000 and 2002, the warranty no longer applies. these people are selling tires that are unsafe and prone to sidewall failure and then will not do anything to correct the problem. *nm
