Truck had hard time starting when cold for 2 weeks prior to truck not starting at all. took truck in was told fuel pump shorted , melted wire harness and fuel pump module melted. half of engine compartment wire harness melted also. was told by mechanic we were very lucky that the truck did not explode. this is to cost $1800.00 in repairs. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet k2500. the contact noticed fuel on the floor underneath the vehicle. when he pulled the fuel tank from the vehicle and removed the plastic cover, he noticed that it had collapsed and split the seam open on the tank. there were no warning indicators prior to the failure. the dealer was not notified. the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls for the issue. the current and failure mileages were 82,823. updated 09/13/08. *lj the evaporator canister was filled with dirt and debris and caused the fuel tank to collapse from the vacuum, which split the gas tank at the seam and released all the fuel. the fuel tank, fuel pump and evap canister had to e replaced. updated 09/17/08. *jb
