Tl* the contact owns a 2003 chevrolet silverado 1500 hd. the contact was driving approximately 25 mph when the rear wheels turned in an awkward position causing a loss in steering. the vehicle would not steer in a straight direction. suddenly, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a utility pole. the contact stated the failure was related to the rear axle centering spring. the vehicle was completely destroyed and towed to the residence. the contact sustained injuries to the neck. the failure mileage was approximately 140,000. the vin was unavailable.
My 2003 chevy silverado z71 1500 pick-up experiences power steering failure when going a very slow speeds (i.e. turning into a parking lot) on right turns only. chevy dealers have not been able to diagnose the problem...some have said that if i change the steering box from a 670 to 680 model it would help but not eliminate???? has been happening for the last 40,000 miles. *tr
2003 chevy k1500 hd has had continuing problem with knocking noise from steering column. already have taken it in once and a "repair" at the dealership was performed but i do not know what that consisted of...they claim they replaced the part but it is not 26,000 miles later and its doing it again worse than before. *jb
1. -poor design of steering shaft that allows lower shaft to become very loose and could result in loose or failed steering 2.- failed steering collision 3. -lower shaft lubricated it failed. shaft has been replaced ever year during the last 3 years and now general motors refuses to do anything about it. *nm
