Truck was recalled due to braking issue, took in and had recall performed. after recall brakes failed, took it back to dealership. returned for pickup and brade pedal went to the floor. left it again for repair. picked it up after this and within a few days of getting the truck back from the dealer the brakes failed and we were involved in a crash. we were unable to stop and hit another vehicle. significant damage. the vehicle was moving along a roadway and when another vehicle suddenly pulled in front of our vehicle the brakes were applied and failed causing us to crash.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact whom was the passenger called on behalf of the driver her spouse, stating that the driver depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to stop in a timely manner. the contact stated that the abs warning light illuminated as the vehicle rear ended another vehicle. the contact stated that no injuries were sustained in either vehicle. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to marlin chevrolet buick gmc inc. (2145 rue frank-carrel, qubec, qc g1n 2g2, canada) where the engineers at gm was contacted and informed the dealer to replace the brakes. the contact stated that the dealer was awaiting parts for the repair. the contact stated that prior to travelling to canada the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 19v889000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control) at quirk chevrolet of bangor dealer, (293 hogan rd, bangor, me 04401). the approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
When i went to start the vehicle 'service brake assist", 'trailer brake malfunction (no trailer attached) and "service ecs" warnings illuminated on the instrument panel. i acknowledged the codes and was driving away and the brakes didn't work. i had to stand on the peddles to stop. the check engine light came on also. i restarted the vehicle and the brakes worked but the check engine light has stayed on. only have ~8000 miles on vehicle.
Parked in drive way started truck and message popped up saying dont drive over 60 and lights on dash.break peddle also hard to push.
Turned on truck and got multiple messages, "service esc" and "brake system failure - speed limited to 62 mph." braking was extremely limited - even at hardest effort, truck struggled to come to a complete stop. truck has 6700 miles and also brake pads are reporting 14%/18% life left which is innacurate based on amount of driving.
My brakes failed at 3500 miles on my 2019 silverado. the dealer performed an update #n192268091 on the vehicle and told me that this had an 80 percent chance of taking care of the brakes not failing in the future, leaving a 20 percent chance that they will fail again. this to me is unacceptable to me and my family. now when i drive this vehicle i get chest pains and just don't want it anymore. please help me!
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that while driving at 40 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and went to the floorboard. the brake pedal was pumped several times to stop the vehicle. the brakes warning light was illuminated. the vehicle was towed to freedom chevrolet 13483 i-10 west, san antonio, tx 78249, (210)- 697-6078 to be inspected. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. the failure mileage was 42,250.
Started my vehicle and the following messages came up immediately: brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service esc, and service trailer brake system. other lights were illuminated on the dash, such as check engine, esc, abs and parking brake. without turning off the vehicle, i thought it was important to get the vehicle to the dealer immediately as for them to see the vehicle in it's current state. while driving to the dealer the brakes where not fully functional. i would press the brake fully down and it would coast to a stop. depending on the speed would determine how far it would coast before it would stop. it was a very scary situation. brake pedal had pressure but the brakes would not start to active until fully pressed. even then the stop was very slow and would coast. example, driving out of my office drive to the man road at 5-10mph it coasted a good 30-60 ft. once the pedal was fully engaged. vehicle has 667 miles.
Out of nowhere multiple warning lights illuminated. esc, brake system failure, trailer brake failure, do not go over 62 mph. brakes were near non functioning.
Purchased new vehicle with less than 4,000 miles was running fine when parked. when it was cranked to go home listed esc failure, service steering column lock, trailering system failure, lane departure disabled, speed limited to 60 mph. i was able to get home, but the brakes were so hard that it was extremely difficult to stop. local dealer it was purchased through "fixed it" less than 1,500 miles later i'm having the same issue! obd has the codes c0021, c0021, p25a2, p25a2, p0606. i do not feel safe driving this truck! if that issue were to happen approaching an intersection i would have no way of stopping in time. ridiculous.
5 times since i purchased this truck one month ago; shortly after turning on, shifting into gear and starting to move the following displays on the dash 'service esc, service parking break, flashing orange check engine light', there may have been other lights too but those ones have been there every time. usually it resets after stopping and turning the car off and on. the ride however is very jerky until i am able to do so and this is not a safe operation condition if there is not a quick and easy place to stop to reset. i have tried to have onstar pull the codes rice but they were not been able to do so in time and they tell me there is no problem when they connect to the onboard diagnostics. it appears they can't see history, only active codes. there was a brake recall on this truck that was supposedly reprogrammed before i took delivery but i suspect that the 'software fix' may not have been successful. in hindsight, my salesman also seemed like he may have been aware of this issue but didn't tell me about it. i say this because the day after i picked it up i noticed that front brake pad life indicated only 68% remaining which seemed low for a 'new' truck that had 2500 miles (had been dealer courtesy vehicle). his response when he tried to clarify was something along the lines of 'and you want me to have them look at the warning about the brakes?', in retrospect that response indicates to me that he may have had an awareness of this problem that i had not yet experienced and was not what i was asking about at the time. he never seemed to understand what i was getting at about the brake pad life when i reexplained so i eventually decide just to forget about it and resigned to the fact that i may have to put new brake pads on this truck before the lease is up in 39 months.
On january 22, 2020 i started the vehicle with using the mychevrolet phone app. i got into the truck and pushed the ignition button. the following three warnings appeared on the instrument panel: 1) brake system failure 62 mph top speed, 2)service trailer brake system, 3) service esc abs, brake, traction control, and check engine lights illuminated. i turned the vehicle off and turned it back on again using the ignition button and all warnings and lights cleared except the check engine remained illuminated. the vehicle was parked when all of this happened. i received an email from onstar reporting that an issue with the antilock braking system was detected. this vehicle had just been into the dealer the prior week to fix one recall associated with the battery cable, and two other recalls associated with the brakes.
Reduced ability to brake my truck almost caused accident.. warning light popped up abs, brake, traction control with warnings going across dash like brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service trailer brakes. codes c0021 p0606,& p25a2. had update for this problem a couple weeks ago and it was suppose to fix this the dealership said over the phone when called today. never had this problem before .i am pretty sure that update just updates the messaging letting the driver know he or she is about to die. taking it into dealer later today. zf trw integrated brake control (ibc) had early manufacturing issue leaving metal shaving in the units. these shaving would score the walls and damage units,no ones investigating this issue because it would cost gm too much to replace all ibcs in every truck during early stages of the t1 launch. trw knows of this issue and has piles of these sitting on engineers desks. there needs to be a recall on all early production t1 truck to replace these ibcs. gm has only been replacing these on a case by case bases when someone reports this problem and their vin number falls within trw suspected problem dates. by this time its too late and can cause an accidents.
After remote start mychev app vehicle stationary four dash messages service esc service trailer brake brake system failure - 62 mph top speed steering assist reduced drive with care lights on dash that were illuminated abs check engine brake traction control tried to drive. brakes and steering limited could not drive unsafe turned off ignition restarted threw five codes including p0606 c0021 p25a2 called onstar, they said all systems showing failed take to dealer called gm- they said to have it towed remote start again- same messages dealer appt tomorrow.
Vehicle brakes were mushy and the check engine symbol displayed on the dash as was the symbol for steering ( wavy lines under a car picture), also these three codes were scrolling on the dash: brake system failure 62 mph top speed, service trailer brake system, service esc. these issues repeated on three separate occasions. each time i took it to a chevrolet authorized dealership repair shop where i was told the issue was resolved. two different shops were used for three " repairs". the issues came up after i started the vehicle by putting my foot on the brake and pressing the start button. the codes began scrolling each time, and the brakes were not firm/ not normal.
I was driving going around a corner when i experienced total system brake failure as deer ran across the road and i had to swerve into a ditch to avoid them. i had service esc , trailer brake system failure and a total brake system failure show on my dash along with check engine lights and other lights i was unaware what their purpose was.
I have lost power to my brakes on 4 isolated occasions in the span of a month after purchasing this new vehicle. on each occurrence the service trailer brakes, service esc, service speeds and i would smell burning upon exiting the vehicle after operation. on 3 of the occasions i experienced this issue while stationary and upon starting the vehicle. on one occasion i was operating the vehicle at roughly 60 mph and engaged the brakes and lost power to the braking systems.
Loss of brakes!!! started vehicle and received to following on dash display: * "service esc" * "brake system failure 62 mph top speed" * "service trailer brake system" * "abs" display * "brake" display * "esc" display
I own a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500 ltz. i purchased it new 35 days ago. i recently encountered a very dangerous situation. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle lost it's braking ability. the brake pedal was fully depressed but the truck would not stop. the vehicle coasted until it came to a complete stop. the display indicated service traiier brake system, service esc, brake system failure, and cel. i powered the vehicle off and restarted it. the cel remained on. the other lights went away. the brakes appeared to work better but when i applied them i experienced a jerking motion. i called my local chevrolet dealership, prince chevrolet, ledo rd. albany, ga. i scheduled an appointment that yielded no resolution as my check engine light remained on when i left the appointment and is still on now. i was told that the problem "might" be a result of starting my vehicle using the "my chevrolet" mobile app. i was informed that nothing was done to repair the issue as they didn't know exactly how to fix the problem at this time. i was informed that the tech did find a service bulletin and based upon the contents thereof, i was advised not to use the app anymore. further, i was told that i would receive a call when a solution was determined. the failure mileage was 2400.
Service esc, service trailer braking system, brake system failure 62mph top speed and a check engine light. have another appointment at dealer after recall for esc brake module has been performed
The esc light has come on and it becomes dangerously difficult to stop and/or steer. this is the 2nd time in one week. i brought it to the dealership after the first issue and was told it was all set. the day after i got the truck back, it's happening again. the check engine light now remains on and i'm waiting for a service appointment....again!!
Service abs, service esc, and "brake failure 62mph speed limited" lights come on and brake pedal goes to the floor with very very limited braking. recall for brake control module reprogramming was completed on 1/03/20. drove truck 1.5 limes and lights came back on and brake pedal went to the floor, steering also became stiff. this was always while driving the vehicle. has happened on 4 different occasions
Service brake assist warning has been appearing since dec. 29, 2019. since that time, the vehicle was in for service 3 times for that issue. still happening even after they re programmed and re flashed the ecbm. i was driving the vehicle every time this occurred, no other warning lights illuminated on the dash
As i left to head to the store this evening i immediately had 3 codes come up on my dash after i turned the ignition on. (brake system failure. 62mph top speed. service trailer brake system. service esc). i thought it was a glitch so i backed down my driveway with resistance of the brakes. i had it in 4x4 due to snow so i assumed its just feeling rough from that. i proceeded to drive down the street i live on to a major road and went straight into cross traffic because the truck would not stop. i nearly died from a snow plow coming. i pumped the brakes once i didn't feel them working and it felt like i was pushing on a cement block. this is unacceptable as i have come close to dying in a recalled cobalt before bow i have to worry about this truck since theres no active recall-just like the cobalt!!! i fear for my life and my autistic child's life as this is my only means of transportation to our doctors. the vehicle is parked and i contacted my friend who works in service to also doccument with him when it occurred.
I had a recall performed at a dealership and they confirmed the vehicle is running properly. i noticed that the next day my lane keep assist was turned off and not functioning. later that same day when approaching a stop sign, i noticed that 4 warning messages appeared on my dash. the first said power steering assist disable, the next service esc, the next trailer brake disabled, the next vehicle limited to 62mph.
So, i took it in 12/17/19 for oil change, etc. there was 3 recalls and picked the truck up 12/18/19. 12/19/19 at 6 pm the truck wouldn't stop! i took it on 12/19/19 and they looked into it. they reinstalled the software, and drove it longer to check it out. i picked it up yesterday, after being told it's good to go. well, it happened again this morning!
Took truck in for recall to reprogram brake system software informed i have one of the 'few' trucks that will no accept update and apparently working to find solution
I've brought my vehicle in to a gm certified chevrolet dealership to get it's oil changed and along with that they informed me of completing a safety recall pertaining to it's brakes. the next day after the recall had been done my brakes had gone soft and my dash lit up with several different messages. service esc, service trailer brake system, and brake system failure 62 mph top speed. i decided to bring it in again and had the recall done once more. this time it lasted a few days until my brakes had gone out once more with the same messages. it's already been a safety risk as the second time it had happened i couldn't stop and went through a 4 way intersection nearly missing oncoming traffic. my vehicle has been at the dealership since december 26, 2019. i've been informed that there "is no known fix per gm" now i'm in a loaner vehicle while paying for a truck that can't be driven.
On 12/26/2019 at 05:40 am, i got in my truck (2019 silverado lt allstar) and started the engine. i immediately received multiple warning messages on my dash panel. they were "service esc", "brake system failure" "steering assist reduced" and to drive no faster than 62 mph. prior to parking the night before on 12/25/2019 i had never had any problems whatsoever. on 12/26/2019 i was heading to work but found quickly that the brake pedel went all the way to the floor with very limited or basically no braking. the steering became very difficult with no apparent power assist.
Around dec 15th, i was notified of a new recall related to the braking system: n192268090 brake system malfunction warning. i immediately scheduled an appt with my local chevy dealer to get this recall fixed. i took it in on 12/17. i had to leave the truck overnight. i picked it up on 12/18. on 12/20, after leaving the movies with my family, i had a total brake system failure - on city street. my dash lit up with abs, cel and warnings such as "brake system failure 62 mph top speed". when i tried to apply my brakes, they were stiff and did not stop the truck immediately. they were very hard to push in. i was able to limp home. i took my truck back to the dealer the next morning 12/21. they had it for a week until the following saturday 12/28. they said gm told them the issue was loose battery cables that interfered with the braking system. they tightened them and should be good to go. i picked my truck up that day. that night, after leaving a basketball game with my family, the same thing happened again - complete braking system failure - after turning truck on. i returned my truck to the dealer on the 30th where it is still sitting. they told me gm said not to release the truck back to owner until engineers figure out the issue. i have opened a case with gm case # [xxx]. i have gone through 2 different agents - neither of which have offered any updates. i have been without my truck for over 2 weeks and there is no updates to this major safety issue. i have lost confidence in my new truck & feel that my family is not safe. there are several other owners in the same boat in the chevy forum i follow. https://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/forum/245-20192020-silverado-sierra-troubleshooting/ this is very sad and i am extremely disappointed in gm/chevy. i have spent thousands of $$ on a new vehicle and it is not safe to drive! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I took it tuesday 12/17/19 in for an oil change at 4k miles to get under 7k service. for my 2019 high country. as i was notified i was due for an oil change. i looked on onstar. saw there was a recall and figured they could two things at once. come to find out there were three recalls. which i get it, things happen. i get it home tuesday night no issues. thursday 12/19/19 around 6 pm, as i was backing out of my driveway and it wouldn't stop. i had to stand on the brakes. i am 6'2' and 300 lbs. i was able to get the vehicle in drive and again, the vehicle was not easily stopping. i had numerous dashboard displays. i took pictures of the displayed items. i called rick hendrick chevrolet at 6:53 pm on 12/19/19 and since i live close dropped it off at the dealer, as i was headed out of town sunday and wanted this fixed. so.... here comes the issue besides it not stopping that i am even more fired up about! the service guy, called me friday morning to say they can't find anything wrong. now, with the display saying service esc, trailer brake system, and brake system failure not to go above 62 mph, i am pretty sure it triggered an code and would be in code history. i told him i had pictures of the dash display and that they needed to check the code history. he told me at one point it was the vacuum, but then told me that the vacuum was an issue with last years model. and that he was having his master technician look at it. around 4 pm on friday, with a family trip coming up sunday 12/22/19 and not hearing anything i called a few times to find out if i needed to rent a car or they could get me a loaner. i got a call around 5:13 pm on 12/19/19 telling me it's ready and they reinstalled the software and the master technician drove it. said he is comfortable. i was scared then and scared now to put them back in that vehicle.
On dec 16 i started my vehicle via the remote start. i then got in and my ecs, abs, traction control, steering and a lot more lights light up on the dashboard. i went to back it up i couldnt stop it unless i stuck my foot in it hard and i couldnt even steer it so i wouldnt wreck. called onstar they said to drive carefully but needs to be serviced within 7days. i parked it found another way to work and had my vehicle towed to the dealership. they said it was fixed and was just a battery issues and they fixed a couple of recalls. then on jan 26 not even a month later i was at the grocery store and started the truck, started backing up and the dashboard started lighting warnings and i couldnt get the truck to stop. finally with everything i had i got it to stop. i had to get the vehicle home cause it was sunday so i put on my flashers drove less than 30mph and got it home thank goodness without causing a wreck. had it towed back to another dealer and you know this dealer blamed the other dealer said they didnt do something right and they just reset the system. a week later, and again having it towed with my own insurance cause onstar wouldnt tow it to the dealer i wanted. i wasnt even offered a loaner vehicle.
Upon starting the truck and putting it in drive, the parking brake maintenance light, check engine light and abs light came on. it provided multiple warnings that it needed service and put the engine in 'low power mode'.
At about 45 mph on a city street, i tried to apply the brakes but the pedal fell completely to the floor and about 98% of the braking ability was gone. i was able to ride the truck up onto the shoulder to slow down and stop. after restarting the vehicle, it seemed that the brakes were working again so i tried to make it to the dealership (about 1.5 miles away). accelerating back up to speed was very jumpy - almost as if the engine was being starved. after getting up to about 35 mph, the brakes engaged intermittently without me touching the brake pedal. i pulled back over and had the vehicle towed to the rest of the way to the dealership. while stopped and engine idling, i observed a very noticeable knock coming from the engine. the dealership diagnosed the problem and is replacing the master brake cylinder and lifters in the engine. this failure was extremely dangerous and i was lucky that it did not cause an accident.
The most recent issue occurred on or about 11/15/2019 when traveling on the highway at approximately 65 mile per hour, the vehicle had an engine lost of power. power reduced immediately and all of a sudden when moving in the 2 lane on a highway incline. incident almost caused a fatal accident. previous lost of power issue was taken to the dealership and i was advised that it was a throttle body component that was covered under warranty service too. on or about september 14, 2019, the vehicle lost brake function when exiting out of a shopping center onto a main street. this too almost caused an accident as the truck would not stop despite using the emergency power brake. all incidents had my children present.
Was making a left-hand turn at an intersection i hit a rough patch and truck bounced and pulled a little. when i came to a stop the following lights came on esc light traction control light as well as a steering one.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. when the vehicle was started, the service brake, brake assist, check engine, and traction control indicators illuminated. also, the emergency brake seized. the vehicle was towed to pine belt chevrolet (732-523-0826, located at 1088 new jersey 88, lakewood township, nj 08701) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake controller needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure in writing. the contact did not receive a response. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 270.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 25 mph, the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop when the brake pedal was depressed. the contact mentioned that the vehicle coasted until it came to a complete stop. the vehicle was taken to rotolo chevrolet (16666 s highland ave, fontana, ca 92336, (909) 333-6924) where the brake module was reprogrammed. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. the failure mileage was 3,360.
When backing up and stepping on the brake my backup camera shows lines and its blurry on the truck screen.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 15 mph, the contact attempted to make a right turn and the brakes failed to engage. also, the brake warning indicator illuminated. the contact allowed the vehicle to idle, pulled into a parking lot, and came to a stop. roadside assistance was contacted and the vehicle was towed to jim butler chevrolet (759 gravois bluffs blvd, fenton, mo 63026, (636) 349-3222) where it was diagnosed that the anti-lock brake system needed to be replaced; however, the part to do the repairs was not available. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 2,588.
Warning message came across screen of "brake system failure 62 mph top speed". vehicle was difficult to stop and had i been in heavy traffic would have certainly caused an accident. i believe the failure is related to the integrated brake controller. i feel that 62 mph is a unsafe speed to allow the vehicle to be operated at with such a failure. a 90th percentile female would not be able to control the vehicle with such a failure due to the amount of pressure required to be applied to the brake pedal in manual mode.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 60 mph, the check engine, stability control, traction control, and abs warning indicators illuminated. also, the "limited to 62 mph" message was displayed and the vehicle did not respond when the brakes were applied. the contact had to downshift for the vehicle to stop. the contact called onstar and was informed that codes: 925a2, p0606, and c0021 regarding the ecm, charging system, air bags, and transmission were detected. the vehicle was taken to gilbert chevrolet (3550 us-441, okeechobee, fl 34974, (863) 261-8947), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 423.
2019 chevy 1500 trail boss double cab: the backup camera cuts in and out when you apply pressure to the brakes. this could cause issues when you rely on this and then the camera cuts off and boom... you hit something/someone because the backup camera cuts off.
Automatic transmission and brake pressure problems. the automation transmission jerks when accelerating from zero miles per hour or at low speeds. it can dramatically increase the rate of an incident due to the powerful movement that the movement does to the whole truck. you can then feel the whole truck sway back and fourth due to the impact. this "jerking" from the start can increase the risk of hitting anything in front of you because of it not being controlled properly when moving in close proximity areas such as high volume traffic areas, high counts of pedestrians walking across the street, parallel parking, and parking close to another car in front of you or any other type of object in front of you. the brake applications take an extreme amount of pressure to stop the vehicle at all given times. my truck is brand new and purchased on 9/18/2019.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at low speeds, the brake pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to respond and rolled to a stop. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to lafontaine chevrolet (7120 dexter ann arbor rd, dexter, mi 48130, (734) 408-4075) where it was diagnosed that the master cylinder and brake controller needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired because the parts were on backorder. in addition, service code: p25a2 (transmission and brake control) was displayed and the onstar feature displayed failures with the engine, transmission, vacuum pump, and master cylinder. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 13,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 40 mph, multiple warning indicators illuminated, including the service esc, service parking, speed limit 60 mph, traction control, and vehicle not in park. also, while approaching a stop sign and depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle failed to stop. the vehicle slowed down until it stopped in the middle of the road. the police arrived, but a report was not filed. the contact stated that the vehicle turned off when it made a complete stop and was unable to restart. the vehicle was towed to lbj chevrolet inc. (located at 815 e washington st, nashville, nc 27856, (252) 677-9027). the vehicle was then towed to sir walter chevrolet (located at 8501 glenwood ave, raleigh, nc 27612, (919) 787-3700) where it was waiting to be diagnosed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 199.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 30 mph, the brake pedal felt loose and required excessive pressure to depress and stop the vehicle. in addition, the service power brake assist and check engine warning indicators illuminated. the contact pulled the vehicle over and restarted the vehicle. upon restarting the vehicle, the warning indicators continued to illuminate; however, the brakes appeared to function normally. the contact scheduled a diagnostic appointment with folsom chevrolet (12655 auto mall cir, folsom, ca 95630, (916) 985-5600). the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 6,570.
On june 16th 2019 i drove down to atlanta, ga for a baseball game. midway i stopped for gas. when i turned back on the truck, i realized that i had lost a and if i get an amount of my braking ability. however, i had no lights on mu dash to indicate a failure to the braking system. i read on a gm forum that other owners experienced the problem, turned off the vehicle for 30 mins, turned back on the vehicle and the brakes worked again. they, however, had lights indicating a brake failure. i followed the forums suggestions and after 30 mins with my truck off, i drove the truck again and had no further issues. i took the vehicle into the service department, but as i expected they could not replicate the issue. i wanted to start a paper trail though incase the issue reoccurred. on july 10th the same braking issue occurred again. this time i was near my dealership in greenville, sc. i took the vehicle to the dealership and they were able to confirm a loss of over 50% of braking but no lights or check engine code (past or present) indicating a brake failure. i am very concerned and believe this truck is unsafe because of the braking issues and lack of confirmation of service lights on the truck dash. it is a death trap. they are not able to confirm a fix either due to not having a service error code to fix and turn off. vehicle was in motion when issues occurred both times. on both occasion as, serious car accidents almost happened due to lack of braking ability.
I have a brand new silverado with less than 6500 miles and power steering stops working in middle of drive. alone with brakes failing. this is a major safety issue!
The vehicle was stationary and had just been started. the following warnings appear on my display, 1) 'action required, steering assist is reduced dive with care'. 2) 'service, trailer brake system' 3) traction control / esc light appears on dash. at this point the steering wheel cannot be turned. i called onstar to run diagnostics. a code of u0100 is stored. errors will continue for 20 - 30 minutes and then go away. after that the truck is back to normal until it happens again. i have owned the truck for 2 1/2 months and seems to happens once a month so far.
