While moving at low speed attempting to make a turn, vehicle will lose power steering and headlights will dim and flicker. also sitting at idle vehicle will have no power steering and when turning the steering wheel, lights will dim to almost going out completely. on several occasions when making a turn and this happens vehicle will display that stabil trac has been disengaged. door locks also unlocked and locked while this was happening. also when traveling and using cruise control when turning on the turn signals cruise control will disengage and stabil trac notification will come on in display. dealer replaced battery approximately 6 months ago stating it was bad and these issues mimicked a bad battery. all problems still persist.
I bought this 2014 silverado new. the headlights are fogging up on the inside which makes it unsafe to drive at night. also , the steering wheel is coming apart around the air bag , which may get in the way of me safely steering it or might cause the air bags to deploy.this vehicle is stored in a climate controlled enviroment every day. it does not sit outside, so the sun had nothing to do with this. i contacted gm and they said they would'nt help me. please help as this is a safety issue not being able to see at night. thanks. this vehicle only has 26000 miles on it. i own several gm vehicles , but this is the only one i have had trouble with.
While engaging slow idle speed turns, my 2014 silverado will occasionally completely lose all power steering and the engine will shut off completely. i have also had the same issue occur while driving straight and applying the brake or rolling up windows. during these terrifying situations, a message comes across the dash saying one or all of the following "electronic power steering reduced. drive with caution" "stabilitrack" "trailer brakes". this issue seems to be very sporadic and unpredictable. i looked up possible solutions and had a mechanic fix a poor grounding connection under the dash which they thought could be the cause but did not resolve the problem. please help!
After 1 hour of driving and stopping at a intersection truck decided to shut down at the intersection causing me to almost be involved in a accident since i was dead in the middle of intersection without warning or reason i had just accelerated through light when truck shut down
Complete loss of electrical power, power steering, air bags, abs, traction control, and stereo. had to have vehicle jump started to make to home.
Cruise control will shut off when using turning signal or rolling up windows. it is very dangerous in busy interstate traffic. service stabli track and steering assist reduced will come up on display. power steering is intermittent when turning. headlights flicker when turning signals are used. truck will completely shut down for a split second while driving then everything comes back on, complete loss of control when this happens. when knob for headlights is turned from auto to on position the dash and instrument panel gets dim and stabli track and reduced steering assist message comes on. rear passenger door will not lock using fob, sometimes i will have to hit the unlock button multiple times before door will unlock after lock has been manually pushed down. passenger seat belt ding is also intermittent, sometimes it will not work at all. my truck just now started having all of these issues at the exact same time. we drove from texas to kentucky and back to texas and these issues all started during this trip. it is not safe for my family, i have always bought chevrolet and currently own this truck and a tahoe but they may be my last. all bulbs are good, all fuses and relays are good. truck now has 66000 miles on it. battery was replaced around 59000 miles. seems to be a wiring or ecm (computer) issue to me. i see many complaints similar to mine but yet no recalls have been issued for my vin number.
Stabilitrak light kicks on and off, steering wheel locks up and shudders when turning at low speeds, headlights and dashlights blink like the trucks about to lose power. searching online it looks like there is a device bulletin that fixes these issues, but i shouldnt have to pay for a safety and common issue with this truck. pit5405a is the bulletin number.
Headlights flicker, radio head unit flickers, error messages (service stablitrak, traction control off, reduced steering assist) doors occasionally will lock and unlock and then truck will shut off all together. steering wheel randomly jerk out of your hands. somebody will end up dead if this issue is not fixed, and recalled. very common through my research in 2014 silverados/sierra's.
Air bag error lights error
Leaking headliner coming in through the 3rd brake light and xm satellite radio
I have brought my truck to the chevrolet in union city georgia for them to repair the recall 3 times this year and they keep saying they reset the computer esp and yet the problem still occur every blue moon the head light flicker and dims when i press the brakes the interior light will dim and head lights also. on 8/19/18 coming home from work while parking my truck in my driveway while turning. it cut off and steer wheel reverse back and this been going on for some months i have to cut the truck off and back on again to get it to act right and if i drive for a week one of them days it will eventually do it again i go to work early in the morning and when my headlights are on i notice they dim once?s i put my feet on the brakes or turn on the turn signals it dims. now when it comes back while driving i place my foot on the brakes and the radio and dashboard interior light dims and i?m real cautions when i turn that when sometimes it want to shift off. i just want the situation fix besides that it's a good truck i?m just paranoid while driving it some days i also have videos of it acting up on since the dealership claim that can't find the issue. *tr

Two times tonight with two different vehicles in two different locations. current generation chevy silverado "low" beam headlights are extreme danger to oncoming traffic. when being approached by current (2014 & newer) silverados the oncoming drivers "dimmed" their lights resulting in no change to the blinding light approaching me. the only way i could tell that the drivers "dimmed" their lights was the change from 4 oncoming lights to 2 oncoming lights, the blinding intensity remained the same. this marks the umpteen-thousandth time i have been completely blinded by current generation silverado "low" beam headlights. i might as well drive with my eyes closed because i am totally blind after meeting an oncoming current generation silverado.
Traveling at approx. 65mph on us17 a divided four lane highway in traffic when the engine shut off with no warning which resulted in complete loss of lights, signals, flashers, horn, and the steering wheel went into locked position. i was able to safely bring the truck to a stop in the grass median. after collecting my thoughts i tried to restart the truck but there was no response and all electrical functions would not operate. about 10 minutes later while i was on my cell phone with a tow service the interior lights cam on along with the radio. the truck started up and after calling the closest gm dealer which happen to be only a few miles away i made my way to the dealership service dept. they were quickly able to identify the problem as gm had issued a service bulletin #pit5405c on this type of issue. it was caused by dashboard fabric trim being caught under a ground post during assembly that resulted in loss of all electrical service. the truck had approx. 40,000 miles at the time of the event and it seems it took either two years or that reasonably low mileage before the problem surfaced. the dealer repaired the problem by simply losing a ground post and trimming out the fabric intrusion. they were great and apologized for what they saw as clearly a defect in manufacturing. they did charge as the truck was out of the 36,000 mile warranty but said i should contact gm customer service for help with the cost. gm refused but it was only about $100.00 so that is not the issue. how can a company allow this problem to exist and be aware of it ( technical bulletin issued). it is a wonder that i or another motorist on the road with me was not hurt or worse. this not like a truck not starting but total loss of control at highway speed. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I have had this issues happen numerous times. the first i was backing up into a parking spot and my service stabilitrak warning came on, and my steering wheel started jerking left and right on its own. 2nd time i was pulling into my parents drive way and warning came on while turning causing truck to jerk and i almost hit the corner of the house. a 3rd time happened again reversing but this time my headlights dimmed and i had multiple service warnings pop up. a 4th time i was again about to reverse. i was able to straighten up and while in reverse and foot on brake, i would turn steering wheel and it would jerk back to center on its own. i took video of that accurance. while driving on the highway yesterday night. i noticed my headlights kept going dim then bright. while in cruise control going 75mph i moved left to pass a vehicle, when i turned right signal on to come back to lane my cruise disengaged. this happend 5 times. before one of the occurrences while in cruise i tapped the brake to slow down, and my volt gauge dropped to 10 or so and the headlights almlst shut off and all lights in cab flikered on and off. it almost felt like the truck was about to turn off but didn't. last issue, a few times i have tried to start the truck and the anti theft deterant comes on and i have to try numeros times to get truck to start.
Electrical, get numerous warnings hood open, theft alert, air bag, transmission, horn beeps numerous all times of day evening, key fob afraid to lock doors have to reset numerous times to stop horn from sounding...pia electrical been to dealer put new battery in still problem still persists stared at 20,000 car now has 40,000 mls.
After driving in any type of moisture (rain, snow, sleet) the highbeam lights have condenstation covering most or all of the lens inside. this moistue will vary based on the miles driven and intensity of the snow or rain regardless if highway or city driving. it does appear worse with highway driving. chevrolet says "this is normal and we will only replace headlight assembly if there is standing moisture. the highbeams are functioning as designed. " this moisture does inhibit the lumins or light coming from the highbeams.
Intensity and coverage of headlights is terrible. the high beams are dim and there is no side coverage to allow seeing the edge of the road. i went into the ditch when trying to avoid oncoming cars and nearly hit a jogger.
The factory headlights on the 2014 chevrolet 1500 series pickup are a safety concern and hazard. the low beam setting is extremely dim and when the roads are wet or at dawn/dusk it feels that you are traveling with the parking lights on. the high beams project well, but disperse quickly. i have owned a 1987 gmc sierra, a 2000 chevrolet 1500, and a 2002 gmc sierra all of which had perfect illumination systems. gm outfitted the 2014 with a safety hazard. most of my driving occurs in the arctic, which 6 months of the year is practically dark most of the day. i have almost hit 3 moose this month because i could not see the road ahead under high beam or low beam. i am upgrading my headlight assembly to the cost of $450.00 because it is important to see on our remote roads in alaska. i love the truck in every other aspect, but the stock headlights are going to get someone killed. thanks.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 70 mph, the electronic stability control warning light illuminated and the exterior and instrument panel lights flashed on and off. the vehicle lost power, but was able to restart after several attempts. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to a dealer were it was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 32,000.
Was towing a trailer, stopped and filled up with gas. as leaving the gas station, dash lights dimmed and brightened on their own, then washer pump started squirting fluid without wiper blades moving. washer pump continued squirting till the reservoir was empty and burned the pump. afterwards, all interior lights stopped working, except for the dash lights. also, lost all parking, head lamps, turn signal and brake lights on the 2014 silverado 1500, except for high mount stop lamp, which was stuck on bright, as if brake pedal was depressed. upon reading owners manual, there is a reference to loosing lights under "electrical overload". all electronics being used was factory installed, other than the trailer that was being pulled. upon taking it to the dealership for repair, they could not determine what caused the issue. they replaced a body control module. one week after getting the truck back from the dealership, the dash lights have dimmed and brightened on their own again, therefore, i am afraid to hook my trailer back up in fear of loosing all my lights again, or worse, driving and all of the sudden, washer pump starts squirting fluid and getting into an accident. after talking to gm directly, they cannot provide an answer to what happened or why they would reference the "loosing lights under electrical overload" in the owners manual, because of a known defect or issue that would hinder their profits. *js

Third time this has happened since new, it seems to happen at twilight as the day is ending. the headlights and dash lights go out. nothing will get them back with the auto switch on the dash. i have to pull the vehicle over to the side, shut off the engine, restart and the lights will come back on. it has not happened during daylight that i know of and has not happened after full dark. *js
Hit a bump in the road and the headlights went out. *tr
