We have classified the 165 complaints from 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled several times without warning. the contact took the vehicle to several dealers including ourisman chevrolet of bowie (16610 governor bridge rd, bowie, md 20716, (301) 262-7600), jack winegardner chevrolet (11001 indian head hwy, fort washington, md 20744), and ourisman chevrolet of rockville (807 rockville pike, rockville, md 20852, (301) 637-6496), but the failure could not be replicated and diagnosed. the contact was uncertain if the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 14v614000 (electrical system) pertaining to the battery being drained and potential contamination of the chassis electronic module. the three dealers had not test driven the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified. the contact was waiting on a response to determine if they could provide a permanent remedy. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
I experience sudden and power steering loss followed by a sudden and predictable return of power steering. the duration of the loss is variable. i received a recall notice for the issue and have had my local chevrolet dealer perform what they deemed as the necessary work to fix the issue. they told me the truck was fixed and sent me on my way. the very next day the issue returned, sudden loss of power steering and sudden return of power steering. i have returned the vehicle to the dealer. this is a serious safety issue and the dealer does not appear to be taking this serious. chevrolet needs to do more to correct this problem.
2014 chevy silverado experiencing steering to lock at low speeds and jerk the steering wheel in opposite direction and various electrical malfunctions such as door locks disengaging, a/c to shut of, engine stall, gauge cluster to turn off, "stabilitrack" and "steering assist reduced". after recall was performed issue has worsened and become more dangerous. steering was locked at 80mph on busy highway, the previously stated electric malfunctions continued to happen as well. engine shut off or lost power many times over the course of a few minutes. all the issues continued till shut off in busy traffic and was towed to chevrolet dealer. chevrolet dealer found no issues and fixed nothing. gm customer service said that there is no issues to report and vehicle is not covered to be repaired. the loss of steering issues are still present and is an extreme safety concern.
Power steering failure caused accident, it has been five months and they have done nothing
Steering locks during slow turns, air and radio turn off, sometimes engine stalls as well during turn while steering is locking and unlocking. happens at slow speed. has happened to me making a u turn into traffic.
When this happens the lights in dash will flicker and radio will kick off and it says ser service stabilitytrac and it will jerk the steering wheel out of your hand and the truck will quit. the dealer put new body contro modgel but did not help it .after truck quits it takes it awhile and then it does it again this could happen anytime.i put new alternater on it but did not help because u can watch voltage gage drop.
Took my truck in oct. 2016 to have it repaired for steering wheel shuddering and having to fight it on turns. and the truck just shutting down. told it was an electrical problem. well 9 months later doing the same thing. after the chevrolet dealer supposedly fixed it. i think it is a problem when you lose control of steering and your truck just stops on turns. my truck was in motion on a city street.
This problem has happened several different times. the first time was in may 2017. as i was driving home, i kept getting a "service stabilitrac" message. about 2 minutes after the last message i was slowing down to turn and my truck completely lost all power. it went completely dark. the steering wheel ripped out of my hands and i nearly crashed head on into oncoming traffic. with all my strength i turned the wheel enough to avoid a head on collision. after i coasted to a stop, i turned the key off, then restarted it and drove home. i took it to a dealer and they told me they couldn't find a problem. for the last 3 months it hasn't happened again until yesterday. all kinds of electrical problems. losing power, stabilitrac messages, diminished steering, loss of power brakes. i pulled into my driveway yesterday and lost all power, my door locks went up and down like three times, ac surges, radio went on and off a few times. i looked up the problem online and found that this isame problem is happening to a lot of 2014 1500 silverados. this should definitely be a recall issue. total loss of power while driving. someone is going to die from this issue. today when i was driving home i was going about 30 mph in traffic and my truck lost all power again, total blackout of all electronics, no steering or brakes, but thankfully all systems turned back on in a matter of seconds and i made it home. after looking online, it seems that someone has located the source. it is a fault at the "g218" ground point which is located under the front left dash speaker. (see youtube video, search 2014 chevy silverado 1500 stabilitrac problem). seriously, how is this not a recall, total loss of power while driving.
Several times the vehicle would loose power and shut down the power steering while attempting to park or turn around in driveway.. on times, only warnings would flash up on the information display about lose of systems and the door locks would cycle. occasionally, the turn signals would shut off the cruse control.
Steering assist error, service stabilitrac error,- steering wheel jerked out of hand while turning , loss of steering. electrical loss- all gauges and lighting blank while driving on highway
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power. also, the abs and stabilitrak warning indicators illuminated. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. eddy's chevrolet cadillac (8801 e kellogg dr, wichita, ks) diagnosed that the battery was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. the contact received notification of the vehicle being involved in a tsb. the vehicle was taken to davis-moore chevrolet (8200 w kellogg dr, wichita, ks) where a software update was performed; however, the failure recurred on six occasions. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 54,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while turning right at 5 mph, the engine stalled, the brakes failed to slow down the vehicle, the steering wheel became difficult to turn, and the vehicle lost power except for the esc indicator and a warning chime sounded. the failures recurred as the contact turned the vehicle to the left and the steering wheel also spun independently to the right. the vehicle was taken to jessup auto plaza in cathedral city, ca where it was diagnosed that the battery cable failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and opened a case for potential repurchase. the vin was included in manufacturer recall number: n172085440. the approximate failure mileage was 22,800.
Traveling at approx. 65mph on us17 a divided four lane highway in traffic when the engine shut off with no warning which resulted in complete loss of lights, signals, flashers, horn, and the steering wheel went into locked position. i was able to safely bring the truck to a stop in the grass median. after collecting my thoughts i tried to restart the truck but there was no response and all electrical functions would not operate. about 10 minutes later while i was on my cell phone with a tow service the interior lights cam on along with the radio. the truck started up and after calling the closest gm dealer which happen to be only a few miles away i made my way to the dealership service dept. they were quickly able to identify the problem as gm had issued a service bulletin #pit5405c on this type of issue. it was caused by dashboard fabric trim being caught under a ground post during assembly that resulted in loss of all electrical service. the truck had approx. 40,000 miles at the time of the event and it seems it took either two years or that reasonably low mileage before the problem surfaced. the dealer repaired the problem by simply losing a ground post and trimming out the fabric intrusion. they were great and apologized for what they saw as clearly a defect in manufacturing. they did charge as the truck was out of the 36,000 mile warranty but said i should contact gm customer service for help with the cost. gm refused but it was only about $100.00 so that is not the issue. how can a company allow this problem to exist and be aware of it ( technical bulletin issued). it is a wonder that i or another motorist on the road with me was not hurt or worse. this not like a truck not starting but total loss of control at highway speed. thanks [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
When driving steering wheel locks and stalls out in the middle of driving and turning and says steering loss please drive safe and it's dangerous i could crash
While driving my 2014 chevy silverado around 42000 miles i stopped at a light on a highway and lost all electrical power and the service steering assist came on dash. i was able to restart the truck and go. it happened multiple times. while driving it around a bend on a highway the truck shut off i lost all steering the steering locked up and i almost crashed, the service assist light came on again. this happened multiple times when turning. on 4-13-17 i brought the truck to a chevy dealer it was was still under warranty. they could not reproduce the problem. 8-24-17 i brought the truck in for a recall #17276 for reprogramming the power steering assist control modular. after the recall the truck started doing it more often the same day but the steering did not lock up but the truck shut off when i tried making a turn on a highway. the service steering assist light came on again. on 9-7-17 i brought the truck back to the chevy dealer ( chevy dealer now changed its name from oasis to quality ) complaining that the recall did not work. they said that the recall was not for that. but i believe it is the same problem. they chevy dealer drove the truck for 10 miles and it happened to them.they charged me for the time to trouble shoot the problem and found a loose ground wire #g218 under the dash causing the problem. i have driving the truck for 2 days now and it seems fine. the issue is that they made me pay for something they should have fixed the first time and i believe that this should have been part of recall # 17276, because i believe part of recall #17276 had to do with low voltage to the steering modular. a loose ground will give you low voltage. any way this is very dangerous and i have read online of others having the same problem. please make a recall about this loose ground wire that makes the truck shut off and lose steering before someone dies. thank you
While driving with cruise control engaged and a signal light is used , cruise is disengaged or if the windows are rolled up or down then cruise will be disengaged. this action will also cause the instrument cluster to dim when the signal is used or windows rolled up or down. if i turn the vehicle off and restart the vehicle it will clear up and may go another hour before it does it again. this is getting progressively worse and sometimes flashes a warning in the drivers information center, stabilitrak disabled and steering assist disabled drive with caution. again if i turn the vehicle off and restart it it will work just fine for a while. this does seem to happen more when i have driven the vehicle for at least one hour. this started happening approx 6 months ago with cruise being disengaged and the dash lights dimming while using the signal lights or the window switch. the stabilitrak and steering warnings started 03/19/2017. on 03/20/2017 i had driven the vehicle about 2 miles and was pulling into a parking spot at a low speed when the steering wheel was ripped from my hands. the last incident was on april 8th while pulling a trailer with the tow haul mode engaged. i was attempting to pass a vehicle and kicked the vehicle into passing gear when the stabilitrak and steering warning both came on .
The issue has occurred on two separate occasions. on both occasions the vehicle was in drive and moving. the vehicles steering capabilities malfunctioned and complete loss of steering occurred. after researching online, there were other owners of the same vehicle experiencing steering failure as well. there is video evidence on youtube to prove that this is a serious issue that needs to be corrected immediately. see "2014 chevy silverado stabilitrak issues part 4" on youtube to see what exactly is occurring.
Vehicle completely shut off when coming to a stop. loss of steering power, etc. after restarting vehicle and after about 10 miles, the error popped up stating that the theft deterrent system had kicked in and the vehicle steering jerked me into another lane on interstate 485 at roughly 70 miles per hour.. two days later vehicle would not start, but after getting out of the vehicle and re locking and unlocking the door several times, the vehicle started. today again the vehicle would not start. system stated that the battery was low and that the theft deterrent system was now engaged. had to jump the vehicle off to get it started again. had battery checked and it checked out completely fine. it is my feeling that there seems to be an issues with the electrical or a ground somewhere. after reviewing this issue online, there seems to be several other vehicles out there with the same issue. very dangerous for the steering to completely take over at 70 miles per hour.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at any speed, the air conditioning condenser did not work without warning. the manufacturer and dealer were contacted (defouwu chevrolet in lafayette, indiana) and stated that there were no recalls or parts available. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not provided. the failure mileage was approximately 72,000.
After driving the truck for an hour and half i pulled into a parking lot, as i was turning to go down an aisle to park the truck interior lighting on the dash dimmed and the power steering died enough to jerk the steering wheel back and forth while turning. this almost caused me to hit another vehicle since i had no steering. i let the truck sit for a minute and then drove to an empty section of the parking lot and done a few slow figure eights seeing if the issue would happen again. after nothing happened i proceeded back to the parking area and again as i was pulling into a parking space the truck seemed to be losing power and the steering wheel was jerking out of my had uncontrollably to the point i could no longer steer the truck. the screen on the dash said it was caused by traction control but the ground was dry and paved. i again let the truck sit for a minute and was then able to park. after shopping i was able to drive to another stop and then home without any issues. when i was backing down my driveway an error message came up on the screen saying the backup safety devices were unavailable and the light on the dash started dimming again. the steering did not act up during backup mode. the dealer said there was a service bulletin out about the issue related to low voltage codes which they said my truck showed. they said the battery tested fine and chevrolet would not let them replace anything since they could not reproduce the issues. they did say they were replacing the negative battery cable though but would not say why they were replacing it.
Intermittently the steering wheel will yank from the driver's hands and warning errors for stabilitrak or traction control reported in center info screen, while the mylink screen goes blank. this typically occurs while maneuvering at low speeds in parking situations. the issue appears to be involving the vehicle's electronic steering assist and stability control systems. this is a major safety concern.
Waited 12 years to afford a new truck and were stuck with this lemon. 14 active recalls paid over $1k for repair work not covered by warranty had the vehicle one year (2015) had to have the seats repaired. air bag issues and the dealer said it wasn't covered either. as of today i have spent almost $3k on this truck for something that you wouldn't think a new truck would have to repair. the rear end went out at christmas (2016) really. come on chevy you've gotta do better than this. offer is something for our troubles. will not buy or recommend a chevy product.
Since 05/02/2016 i have been dealing with crazy electrical problems. it started with head lights dimming at random times. then driving down the road at 55mph with cruise control on, activite turn signal. when turn signal is activated the cruise control would cut off. simulated 4 times to ensure there was a problem. continued driving. at 30 mph the air conditioning turned off, all dashboard lights & radio turned off but engine stayed running, 45 seconds later everything turned back on. at this time the wife freaked out & asked to park, scared for her safety & my own. pulled forward to parallel park, went to put the vehicle in reverse. before reverse was initiated the truck threw multiple warning lights (service stablitrak, assisted steering, etc). the dashboard lit up like a christmas tree. the steering wheel violently jerked & locked up. then the engine cut off. put the truck in park, turned key & started right back up with no warning lights, no low voltage indication and no problems. gmc dealership could not replicate the problem & returned the vehicle to me within 2 days. this happened again on 07/05/2016. this time it was sent to chevrolet. they reprogrammed the steering wheel position sensor & checked the security of the wire harness. 07/11/2016 the vehicle locked up & shut off again in a starbucks drive through. this time locking myself & my family in the truck for 3 minutes. when ignition was turned, truck would not start, no lights would come on either. the truck acted dead. this time chevrolet replaced gas pedal. 10/31/16 the truck shutoff & locked up again. this time i took video to prove my case in hopes it would help the dealership. they tested battery and cables. 12/19/2016 it happened again & also smelt burning. chevy replaced alternator cable & negative battery cable. could not smell burning. 01/10/17. engine fire caused by alternator and battery cable
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while making a right turn, all the indicators on the instrument panel flashed rapidly and the vehicle veered to the left independently. as a result, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was able to be restarted on the first attempt. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was informed of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 31,000.
My 2014 chevy silverado has been giving me hard time due to that as im driving the truck out of no were turns the steering wheel left right and locks with no control of it and all the lights from the truck in and out side go out the ac turns of and unlocks the doors. the word stabilitrak and steering wheel asst come on the dash board before turning everything off and locking. and turns off the truck in the middle of the road with out letting me break. i have already contact chevrolet but they did not help me at all. all they said was you dont have a recall youll have to pay to get the truck check? im having gm problems come on now im very upset due to that im paying my truck every month and cant even drive it comfterble only transportation i have.
This is a complaint on a 2014 chevy silverado truck which we purchased new and has only had one driver. it will randomly loss power going down the highway. also, frequently now, losses power steering and will violently jerk making it uncontrollably. had the truck in the shop at the dealer where we purchased it 2 years ago and they could not find the problem. there was a recall on the power steering. we took the truck in to the shop for the recall but are still having the exact same issue. this is a safety issue, not a warranty issue and the dealer is wanting to charge for the diagnostic and any repairs, stating the truck is out of warranty.
While driving down the road randomly when i go to turn service stabilitrack pops up and when you try to turn it jerks the wheel back to zero. this has happened to me 3 times in the past month. i have had two dealerships look at it and could not find the issue. i have contacted gm and all they say is the dealer has to replicate it . and they will not foot the bill for me a loaner. this truck is not safe to drive and i feel like i should not be responsible seeing how just a little research will show many other people having the same issues i have. of course gm tells me they are not aware of the issue which is a lie.
Engine light and traction light came on then displayed stabilizer malfunction the truck stop while driving down the road. difficult to steer when engine stopped. car has stopped several times. dealer unable to find problem with truck. this problem has been occurring with the different lights displaying a malfunction and the truck stopping for the past 2 weeks
I was driving the truck in downtown austin, i pulled in to the right to a restaurant, and proceeded to pull up and park in reverse. as i pulled up and aligned the truck i slightly turned the truck steering wheel to the left to straighten up as i did this the steering wheel jerked to the left even more with its own force, the display marked stabilitrak and engine power reduced , and then did this to me the entire time i was trying to straighten up the truck to try and back up to park. not only that my wife who drives the truck daily said it did this to her several times before and its even completely died on her, with her having to put the truck back into park and restart the truck. luckily it has not yet done this to us or more specifically to my wife because she drives the truck daily, to her on the interstate or major highway . this is a huge safety concern and have taken the truck to the dealer several times and its stayed there a few days each time. with them only repairing the recalls. and them not being able to reproduce what happened to my wife and i both. this is a major issue and the dealer cant find anything supposedly wrong with the truck. i have no idea what to do now, and am stuck with the truck with no answers what so eve!!!!!!!! *tr
I purchased the vehicle june 2016 with 32k miles on the odometer. august 2016 at 35k miles while driving at 55mph, the entire electrical system shut down 4 times within 2 miles. as i turned into my driveway, the electrical system shut down again along with the ability to control the vehicle. the steering wheel jerked violently and the vehicle stopped just short of hitting my mailbox. all functions were dead at this point. i turned the key to the off position and back on and the vehicle started as if nothing happened. 3 days later on a family outing, after parking the vehicle in a parking space at a theme park, my wife had forgotten her theme park mug, so we walked back to get it. when i tried to unlock the vehicle using the remote key entry, the vehicle would not unlock. i used the key to manually unlock the vehicle and noticed the courtesy light was not on when i opened the door. i then tried to start the vehicle and it would not do anything. it had no power as if the battery was dead. after spending the day in the theme park with friends, we were going to get a ride home due to the vehicle not starting. i told them lets try to start it again and see if it will do anything. it started as if nothing happened. i took the vehicle to the dealer the following day and they said it was a negative battery cable. they kept the vehicle for a week and said the problem had been fixed. 2 weeks later, the vehicle started the same erratic process. the electrical components shut down and the steering wheel jerked violently at the same time. the service stabilitrak light came on and that was while driving in a public parking lot. if this happens on a highway or interstate, someone is going to get seriously or fatally injured. i also have video of the erratic behavior. a person has no control of a gm vehicle with this same issue and gm is placing lives at risk.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 75 mph, the steering wheel seized and all the warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted and was able to drive normally; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken to autonation chevrolet north (located at 7320 n broadway, denver, co 80221, (720) 836-7087) where it was diagnosed, but a failure code could not be located. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 65 mph, the contact noticed flames underneath the vehicle. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and the fire department extinguished the fire. there were no injuries and a fire report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 28,000.
I was having what i thought was an electrical problem. in traffic after hitting my breaks many times i noticed my dash lights go dim, the radio would cut out once in a while and my gauge cluster would reset just like it looks when you first start the truck. this happened several times in approx.30 min. i was planning on taking it in the first chance i got but the next day i was driving in my residential neighborhood, a car was coming the opposite way when and i hit my breaks the steering wheel violently jerked out of my hand and caused the vehicle to drive up onto the sidewalk and almost into a retaining wall. everything was dinging the abs and other lights were on and the word stabilitac was displayed on the center dash. thankfully no one was injured. i immediately called the dealership when i got home and took it in to have it looked at. the dealership had my truck for several days and offered no real explanation for what caused the problem other than it was a software problem. now here we are a month later i'm driving down the interstate and take my exit for work. when i hit my breaks the lights go dim in the truck, the radio goes out, the abs and other indicator lights come on, things are dinging and stabilitrac is displayed on the screen on the dash. when i started into my turn the wheel jerked violently many times in the opposite direction of my turn causing the vehicle to go onto the shoulder of the off ramp. it took every bit of strength to keep the vehicle on the road. i reluctantly continued on to work as it happened a few more times. one of them i was able to capture on video. the vehicle is currently at the same dealership that made the first assessment and repair. i don't feel safe operating this vehicle even after the repair as it has been proven it can and will happen again.. someone is going to get killed or seriously injured if gm doesn't fix it.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving 75 mph, the contact attempted to switch lanes and all power seized in the vehicle. the electronic stability control light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the electronic body control module needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred numerous times. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 56,764.
I have had this issues happen numerous times. the first i was backing up into a parking spot and my service stabilitrak warning came on, and my steering wheel started jerking left and right on its own. 2nd time i was pulling into my parents drive way and warning came on while turning causing truck to jerk and i almost hit the corner of the house. a 3rd time happened again reversing but this time my headlights dimmed and i had multiple service warnings pop up. a 4th time i was again about to reverse. i was able to straighten up and while in reverse and foot on brake, i would turn steering wheel and it would jerk back to center on its own. i took video of that accurance. while driving on the highway yesterday night. i noticed my headlights kept going dim then bright. while in cruise control going 75mph i moved left to pass a vehicle, when i turned right signal on to come back to lane my cruise disengaged. this happend 5 times. before one of the occurrences while in cruise i tapped the brake to slow down, and my volt gauge dropped to 10 or so and the headlights almlst shut off and all lights in cab flikered on and off. it almost felt like the truck was about to turn off but didn't. last issue, a few times i have tried to start the truck and the anti theft deterant comes on and i have to try numeros times to get truck to start.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving at low speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. while driving at high speeds, the vehicle stalled and experienced complete power failure. occasionally, the vehicle would start on its own. other times, the contact had to turn the starter several times. the failure recurred. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 31,000. updated 04/06/17 lj the consumer stated the headlights and console lights would dim/flicker. the consumer stated the power failure would mostly occur at low speeds. updated 09/08/2017*js
After having the battery replaced, the vehicle started giving "stabiltrak service required" "reduced power to steering" warnings. at these times and intermittently afterwards, these would appear and the steering would then respond as if the engine were not running while underway. this happened in several parking lots requiring close maneuvering as well as on the florida turnpike, endangering my family, myself and others. the local dealership claimed and replaced the entire positive engine lead, stating that was the cause. the same issue has arisen again and now i am being informed there are now multiple low voltage codes due to this short. researching online forums, this has been an issue among many who own this truck. it would appear this could be a life threatening situation that needs to be addressed. this began happening on approx. june 20th and continued until "repaired" june
**stabilitrak** while driving home on the interstate i noticed that when i pressed the brake the radio blinked off. then when i activated the turn signals the radio blinked off. after exiting the highway the dash lights would flicker as well. while attempting to make a left hand turn into my development the truck shut off, wheel whipped hard and locked while making that left hand turn. this forced the truck into the grass coming within feet of a tree. service stabilitrak warning appeared on dash. truck was able to be restarted, backed out of grass and parked in driveway at home.
Problem started with the radio display blinking off when i pressed brake pedal or activated turn signals. thought this was strange, but did not think of it as a safety concern. i then got stuck in a little rush hour traffic on the highway, i noticed while holding the brake on for extended periods of time the transmission would down shift extremely hard and just acting strange all together. traffic was moving approx 30 mph when the radio blinked off the doors locked, unlocked then locked again. a message flashed on the dash something stabilitrak then started shifting extremely hard again. i was on the interstate and no where safely to pull over. i was traveling with my [xxx] old child and had some serious safety concerns at this point. no more than a mile later, while in the same stop and go traffic and apply the brakes, the radio blinked off and the truck shut down completely while traveling around 30-35 mph in traffic with a tractor trailer behind me. i was able to shift the truck to neutral to start the truck and continue to the next exit. when slowing down the truck started to sputter out almost to a stall and quickly flashing a stabilitrak message and the dash blinking off, until i released my foot off the brake. i called to have a family member come pick my child up as i had serious safety concerns of my child being in the vehicle. i continued to my appointment which involved accessing the turnpike through toll booths. while slowing down to enter the toll plaza the truck did the same thing radio blinked off, dash displays blinked off, sputtering the steering wheel at this point ripped out of my hand almost causing a collision, stabilitrak message appearing. once i got to my destination the truck sat for approx 2 hours. my return trip was normal and did not have any issues. this truck is a death trap with this problem occurring.
Vehicle is presently at the dealership for the fifth time. while driving with cruise, when changing lanes after turn signal is used the cruise shuts down. on several occasions while in the middle of a turn the dash lights flash, locks flip up n down, steering wheel jerks back n forth then vehicle dies. the incident that is reason for being in the shop now is, while in a parking lot, steering locked n unlocked, door locks again flipped up n down, vehicle died with no power. could not unlock the vehicle, no power what so ever, key would no turn. eventually i heard a psst noise and the power came back. the previous times taken to the dealer, i'm always told, cannot duplicate. this is a danger to me,my family. after being a faithful gm fan for over 40+ years they have lost this guy to another make of vehicle, especially after reading so many of the same complaints, as i, without resolve. they have lost my trust.
Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet silverado 1500. while the vehicle was parked with the air conditioner activated, the vehicle overheated. the contact noticed steam coming from the engine compartment and the radiator warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was turned off and restarted about an hour later, and there were no issues. the vehicle was taken to ferman chevrolet tampa (9751 e adamo dr, tampa, fl 33619 (813) 623-2411) where it was diagnosed with a condenser issue in the motor. the dealer stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive and the condenser line and unit needed replacement. the contact stated this was an ongoing issue with the vehicle and the failure occurred several times, in which the air conditioner condenser line was replaced. the dealer also stated that the air conditioner unit condenser was overworking the engine. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Electrical fire: my vehicle was having electrical issues. my radio would randomly change, turn on and off. the parking sensors would randomly go off even while driving forward, down the highway! i had a service appointment scheduled. however, prior to the appointment my vehicle burned up. the cause was found to be a control/computer board in the dash. the vehicle was parked at the time of the fire, it had been about 1 hour since driven last. i have several pictures, fire investigation report and insurance inspection report.

My truck will sometimes idle rough the steering gets real hard .when appling the breaks the lights will dim temporarily when i come to a stop and turn off my truck i loose all electrical power ..and will not start again..the problem is occurring more frequently ....
Dash lights would flicker along with headlights. when you would turn the wheel, the entire dash would go out like you turned off the key and then come right back on. sometimes the truck would die in the road and died while turning and created near misses for accidents. when the system would come back on, it would disable the steering assist and cause the steering wheel to jerk back towards center. took the truck to the dealer with video evidence of problem and they advised there was not recalls, service bulletins or even knowledge of a problem and wanted to charge $128.00 per hour flat rate to trouble shoot the problem. after doing some research at home, i found numerous issues with the same problems on forums and related back to a known ground issue under the dash that is labeled g218 where insulation or material is found under the ground nut creating a higher resistance. i was able to remove this material myself and correct the problem with no further issues. the scary part about this is, my daughter had the truck die on her a couple times in the middle of traffic and was almost in a wreck because of it. gm refuses to accept their responsibility on this when it is a gm manufacture problem.
