I was driving my 2007 chevrolet silverado when the power steering, power brakes, dashboard gauges, electronic stability control, traction control stopped working simultaneously. there was a significant loss of power and the transmission shifted violently and the vehicle jerked. i was traveling in motion on a city street with traffic present while this occurred. this nearly caused an accident as i was barely able to steer the vehicle off the road.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the brake line of the vehicle was completely rusted and fractured. the failure caused brake fluid to leak out. the vehicle was towed to weber chevrolet creve coeur (12015 olive blvd, creve coeur, mo 63141, (314) 567-3300) where it was diagnosed that the entire brake line needed to be replaced. the repair would cost $3,000. the dealer stated that the failure was common among many of the same chevrolet vehicles. the manufacturer stated that the extended warranty expired in 2012 and they could not assist. the failure mileage was 105,082. *tt consumer purchased the truck new and notice undercarriage was rusting. consumer spray painted the hitch. vehicle's brake lines were rusting and consumer had no idea until it ruptured and brake flowed over the driveway. *jb

The brakes are very hard to press and the truck shakes i tried everything to try to fix it balanced the wheels and everything still shakes and brake pedal is very hard

Brake light sensor constantly defective. replace about 6 times. transmission jerked all the time. won't go into drive but will go into reverse. makes a very loud clanking noises.

All brake lines are eroding, rusting out to the point where they have to be replaced...had a brake line to the real wheels blow out on me as as was leaving a bank i do my business with. had to replace a section of it.upon inspection of the other lines they are all rusted to the point the it's just a matter of time before they fail. vehicle had 75000 miles when this happened, it now has 80000 miles on it.

Brake lines rusted, resulting in loss of brakes. brake line running from abs unit to rear brakes rusted and blew out right over the read differential. the vehicle was in motion when the brake line bust.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance, the mechanic noticed that the master cylinder was leaking into the brake booster. both components would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 118,000.

This recall has been for a year already and yet they havent fixed the issue

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado. the contact stated that after inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was a brake fluid leakage and found that the brake lines were corroded. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 63,000.

Driving slowly up to a stop sign coming out of the target store in shoreview, minnesota. the abs anti-lock brake system activated and made the truck difficult to stop. the vehicle went through the stop sign but did not collide with any oncoming traffic. according to many other incidences described online, the exact same thing is happening to others. in the northern "salt belt", rust and corrosion gathers around the front brake sensors and pulls them upwards sending the wrong signal to the computer. there is already a recall on some chevrolet trucks pre-2005 for the very same reason. this is a very dangerous situation and preventable if gm would solve the problem once and for all.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet silverado 1500. while approaching a traffic light, the brake pedal was depressed and failed to respond. the contact stated that the emergency brakes had to be used in order to stop the vehicle. after inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that there was brake fluid leakage and found that the brake lines were corroded. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 48,707.

Abs unit on front brakes malfunctions at low speed. the abs sensors mistakenly releases brake pressure, as vehicle slows to a stop, thinking the wheel is skidding. this release of brake pressure lengthens the stopping distance, which could result in a low speed crash.

Brake lines had corroded and a pin hole leak allowed brake fluid to leak out of the system when the brakes were applied. braking ability was greatly reduced. i was towing a boat at the time, making the failure even more dangerous. inspection subsequently showed that all four lines which run forward from the abs module to the master cylinder had several areas of severe corrosion. all the lines needed to be replaced. the use of carbon steel brake lines was a poor design decision. gm has subsequently in 2008 upgraded the materials of construction, but owners of older vehicles are at risk, and subject to an expensive repair bill.

Rear brake line that runs along frame badly rusted and developed leak that resulted in loss of rear wheel braking. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated while driving approximate 70 mph, the front driver's side wheel fell off. the contact was able to safely merge to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to a dealer. the technician diagnosed that the front driver's side wheel bearing and rotor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 78,000.

I was taking my daughter to the store when i tried to hit my brakes the pedal went straight to the fire wall. we were able to stop using the emergency brake. i took it to a garage and was told all of my lines were corroded through and that the master cylinder was bad to. i left it there to be repaired with the final cost of approx. 675.00$ . is gm offering any assistance for this premature brake line failure?? or do thirteen people have to die first?? *tr

When i am applying the brakes, at about 10 mph, the abs kicks on and keeps the truck from stopping. the driving conditions haven't mattered. the roads are dry and there is no indication on the dash that there is a problem. it is happening pretty consistently at slow speeds.it seems to be a problem with the abs speed sensor on the drivers side. *tr

Like many other gm trucks, the steel brake line rusted and failed. i was backing by boat on to the ramp when the brakes failed. the weight of the boat and the steepness of the ramp pulled by truck in to the bay. thank god my family was out of the vehicle. the nhtsa must mandate that gm fix all severely corroded brake lines at either a reduced or no-charge fee to owners. i am being told that a large portion of the $1,200 labor fee will be for bending of replacement lines. at a minimum, gm should bear the cost of the labor involved in bending of the lines as they refuse to provide performed lines to their dealers. if the government (which is supposed to represent the citizens) really cares about safe vehicles - and we see some of the 'things being recalled nowadays" - why on earth isn't gm being held responsible for recalling gm trucks when there are so many examples of brake line failures!

While my family and i were towing our camper to start our vacation, we were traveling on the highway. traffic had started to stop so i stepped on the brakes and the pedal went all the way to the floor. thanks to quick thinking i put on the trailer brakes to get us to stop in time! after pulling over to find the problem i noticed the brake line was blown out due to corrosion and was leaking brake fluid all over the engine. *tr

My vehicle has been in the shop twice from 2014 until 2016 for whell cylindersnbecause of abs sensors activating. have purchased whell cylinders twice and now i need them again. vehicle is in motion when abs sensors activate.

The day after i bought this truck, while starting to back out of a parking space at my mechanic's shop, my foot went to the floor. i stopped, got out and found a large puddle of brake fluid on the ground. they took the vehicle into the shop and found all of the brake lines were badly rusted and 1 had completely failed. during the replacement process they also found the fuel line was rusted so i had it replaced as well. shortly after that, the service airbag warning started coming on when driving the truck. transport canada has a recall for this specific problem as follows from their web site: transport canada recall # 2014510 recall date2014/11/07 notification typesafety tc systemairbag manufacturer recall number19270b categorylight truck & van recall details on certain vehicles, the sensing and diagnostic module (sdm) may corrode due to a significant quantity of snow and/or water containing road salt or other contaminants entering the vehicle and saturating the acoustical padding beneath the floor carpet. if sufficient moisture collects and is retained in the padding, it may cause excessive corrosion under the module; compromising the module seal and allowing water intrusion and system malfunction. this may result in illumination of the airbag readiness light along with a "service airbag" message on the driver information center and, in certain instances, may cause inadvertent deployment of the seatbelt pretensioner and/or airbags. inadvertent airbag and/or pretensioner deployment could result in injury and/or damage to property. correction: dealers will remove the acoustical pad above the sdm, inspect, and if necessary, replace the sdm. note: this is an expansion of recall 2009-291 makemodelmodel year(s) affected chevroletsilverado2007 2008 2009 gmcsierra2007 2008 2009 why is canada recalling vehicles for this issue and the us is not?

I applied the brakes of my 07" chevy silverado classic in a parking lot, the truck stopped and then the brakes went all the way to the floor. got the truck home, and soon found a pool of brake fluid on the ground under the left rear wheel. i was able to get the truck to the dealership with almost no stopping power. diagnosis - brake line failure. the brake lines had deteriorated and have begun falling apart. the solution - a $2,400 brake line replacement job (actual part cost $100). the job is apparently extremely labor intensive. is gm doing anything about this? my truck is 7 years old and should not have the major braking system failure problem that i am experiencing. *tr

While backing into my driveway i lost all of my brakes.the pedal went to the floor.i used the emergency brake and put the truck into drive.i managed to stop the truck before any damage occurred,my drive way is steep and i was lucky i was going slow in 4 wheel drive.i found the brake lines had been corroded and burst.the lines ruptured under the drivers side.i read that gm said it was not a safety issue and you still would have some brakes.how on earth would you have brakes when the lines rusted through.a 2007 truck .i read this has been an issue for over 12 years with gm pick ups.check your brake lines-its life or death. *tr

Went to sticker vehicle (state inspection) told brake line failed inspection. with year and mileage, shows the danger posed from manufacture. quality materials need to be installed. early brake line wear poses danger to public. *tr

My brakes did not work as before the warning lights and buzzers went off. *tr

Warning lights and alarms on. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet silverado 1500. while driving approximately 30 mph, the brake warning indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. the vehicle failed to decelerate when pressure was applied to the brakes until after several attempts. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the brake master cylinder and booster were replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 21,532. ...updated 02-13-13 *bf updated 02/19/2013 *js

Brakes went out in driveway. towed to local garage , found all brake lines were rusted and parts of lines were snapped apart. this happened with normal driving,no incident. thank god nobody was hurt. sad to say i have lost my faith in chevy!!! *tr *js

Many electrical issues involving sensors.wheel sensors needed replace twice.non functional cruise control.brake lines, transmission lines and gas lines very rusty.two brake line failures luckily both were stationary..all lines need replaced.

temperature around 0 degrees. snow on road. dash lights for abs and brake went on. when i got to a clear area of pavement i tested abs by jamming on brakes. abs did not work. drove vehicle home to garage. turned on heater in garage. next morning warning lights off and brakes worked correctly. has happened once or twice a winter since 2011. last happened 01/07/14. happens only when less than 10 degrees and wet. otherwise brakes have worked correctly. *tr

2007 chevy silverado classic crew cab: low speed pulsation of brakes, if i wasn't use to this condition, it could cause loss of control. i have this problem on and off since i purchased it back in may of 2010, the dealer replaced rotors and pads. it worked fine for a few thousand miles. then the problem rear up again, i thought it was worn or faulty pads, replaced the pads, still pulsates. had the bearings and rotors checked, no issue there. so here i am with the same problem and not solution. i've owned this vehicle for almost 7 years and the problem is intermittent. chevy needs to own this. it has to be faulty sensor or corroded brake lines. please help!!!!!
