The air bag service light and is lit as well as the service center saying it needs service, also has the same brake problems the 2007 and up silverados where recalled for with the failure of the front abs sensors. the abs problem could cause an accident at low speed because everytime you stop the abs system activates and pulses until stopped at 15 to 20 mph and increases stopping distance. the air bag light is because of a sensor failure in the front end area and requires replacement. from what i read on the internet these are well known safety issues with the model trucks. the other problems with the premature failure of brake lines that have corroded, and the check engine light being on for the ever well known problem of the vacuum solenoid near the full tank. these are constant problems with this yr and other models at gm. they should be recalled. *tr

Rotten brake lines. i looked at the brake lines while changing my oil. my truck has 47k on it. i called gm. they told me that i had to bring it to a dealer. i did. they confirmed that the brake lines are bad and need to be replaced. $1500 also the transmission cooling lines are leaking. i have been through almost all of the brake problems listed on this web cite. abs light comes on, twice, 2nd time i replaced the left hub bearing assembly. the 1st time the dealer replaced the front abs sensors. air bag light comes on, i replaced a bad front air bag sensor, right side. this truck is turning into a money pit!!!!! this new (rotten lines) issue is a safety issue as was the abs issue. gm needs to do a full recall and replace the brake lines before someone gets killed. *tr

While driving my truck down the freeway, the engine light suddenly came on and a warning appeared on the dashboard stating "reduced engine power" and the truck shut itself down to 10 miles an hour in seconds. i had vehicles coming up behind me traveling at 60 mph and higher that nearly hit me from behind. even if i floored the gas pedal the truck would not speed up making it extremely difficult to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. the local chevy dealership had my truck 2 days and charged me $400.00 for an emissions part. i picked my truck up on thursday evening, jan. 20, 2011, and it broken down the very next morning with the same issue. i took it right back over there and they told me to return it on monday jan. 24 which i did. they returned the truck to me on weds. jan. 26, and said they couldn't figure out the problem but may have been a loose wire. the truck broke down with the same issue again on feb 14. the dealership had it another 3 days and said they soldered some connections. again on march 10, my truck broke down again, same issue. they had my truck until march 14, and again charged me for replacing the wiring harness and throttle body. i picked my truck up at 6 pm mon march 14 and it already broke down again this morning march 16, same issue. on two occasions now i have had my kids in the back seat, driving on the freeway when the engine decides to shut itself down. no one at chevy seems to care if we are injured or killed when we are hit due to this defective truck. i am not the only chevy owner reporting this problem. not only are there complaints all over the internet, but the dealership had another truck in at the same time as mine at the march 10 visit, with the exact same issue and it had already been in multiple times for the same issue as well.

I own a 2006 chevrolet silverado truck. i have noticed a ticking wile the trucks engine is cold. i have taken in the truck for repair and my mechanic informed me that the exhaust bolts are broken on the exhaust manifold. this is a common problem with gm trucks and there should be a recall from gm to fix this problem. *tr

2006 chevrolet silverado. blower motor resistor shorts out and melts wires, have replaced twice - once a burning smell was noticed. the same problem happened with an 04 and an 05 silverado at my job. despite fire hazard, inability to use defrost causes visibility problems. *tr

Exhaust bolts on 2006 silverado, 4.3 v6, breaking at 40,000 miles, creating fire hazard and letting carbon monoxide back into cab. contacted gm, wanted to run diagnostics on broken bolts, ha ha very funny. lot of good that would have done. *tr

2006 chevrolet 1500 dual air conditioner control blows heat on driver's side while blowing cold on passenger's side (even though the ac is set for both sides). wiring harness has a short on the blower, which produces a burning smell. *tr

Bought it new, replaced battery in 6 months, have replaced headlights and back lights twice, the truck shimmies while braking, engine light keeps coming on, engine heats up while idling, shall i continue? i have purchased gmc prior to this chevrolet. i do like the product but gmc has incredible customer service for these types of problems. chevrolet will not provide you with a loaner and can never duplicate the problem. i hope the truck lasts until my last payment. *tr

Normal vehicle operation - passenger side exhaust flange don't/gasket- do to a flaw in the design, the flange is not allowed to be tightened enough to maintain gasket seal thus allowing carbon monoxide/exhaust into the vehicle. *tr

Chevrolet silverado 1500 truck has a problem with the engine warning light coming on and a reduce power message comes on.* nj the dealer has not been able to rectify the problem. *jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet silverado 1500. at 4,000 miles the indicator light for the four wheel drive illuminated and stayed on for 2 to 3 days until it was repaired. at 11,000 miles the vehicle over heated, and the water pump had to be replaced. under 20,000 miles the front brakes failed, and it was hard to stop the vehicle at a normal distance. on 04/30/2007 while driving 75 mph, the abs indicator light came on, an hour later the right front end of the truck shook and the engine shut off. the vehicle currently has 52,000 miles , and began failing at 4,000 miles. *ak

This vehicle is 9 months old. from purchase of the new vehicle there was a rattling noise under the dash - dealership replaced flex pipes. the noise has come back about 6 months later. from purchase of the new vehicle the left driver side mirror shakes, am unable to see out of it. under the driver side seat, the truck shakes. dealership refuses to admit these problems exist. the valves are clattering in the engine compartment while driving, not just with accelerating. rotors act as though they are warped. upon resetting the oil change indicator light, the battery failed. the dealership has refused to look into this. *jb

My 1500hd super crew cab has had a harmonic rumble since the second week of ownership. it varies some with speed and load but can be felt through the floor into your feet and be heard easily at all times. it gets progressively louder until it is serviced. the dealer has worked on the problem 4 times in 5 months and it still has the problem. it will go back for a 5th visit this week. *nm
