Strange smell in a/c unit when turned on. fan blower wasn't blowing high enough, then eventually stopped working. took vehicle to mechanic. stated the fan and resister had burned up. there was a recall on manual a/c but not on auto. the same problem happened in my auto a/c as happened in manual a/c why is my vehicle not covered under the recall when it is the same problem. *tt

The automatic 4 wheel drive shifts from 2 wheel high to 4 wheel low while driving. i have replaced encoder once and now does it again. this not uncommon in chevy p/u's. was told by service writer this happened to a truck while it was going down road at 70mph and it destroyed power train. the person was lucky that they had their seat belts on. problem # 2 is sometimes the speedometer works and sometimes it does not another common defect. when i worked for a plumbing company they had this some of their trucks. i also talked to a former gm mechanic and he said that these problems were common with chevy trucks. there are recalls for hub caps and lights but not for something as serious as these 2 defects. how long before someone is injured or dies before this is corrected? *tr

My truck as dual ac controls, while driving the driver side air blows hot air while air conditioner is on. if you turn the truck off and then back on it fixes the problem for sometime 2min and sometimes 30 min. i know multiple people that have the same problem as me, i have seen hundreds of people on forums that have the same problem with the same truck and others such as the tahoe, avalanche, suburban of same year and different years. some forums that i have read stated that the truck could catch fire, i am very concerned about the situation, most people say that the parts to fix the problem are around $500 - $700, but this is occurring in hundreds if not thousands of gm vehicles. *tr

Speedometer not working properly. does not read accurate speed. when needle starts to rise, the motion is not constant. the needle instead "ticks" up upon acceleration. *tr

Defective cd players. will not eject cd and this is a problem for almost all cd players in the 03-06 models. i personally know 4 people with this problem, and there are thousands of reports in forums on the internet. *tr

Chevy silverado and chevy suburban with same problem. check engine light comes on. this could either mean to check engine or that the gas cap is loose. engine was checked and so was gas cap. nothing wrong. servicer turned off the check engine light. next time truck was started up the light came on again. *cn

Just bought my 2005 chevrolet silverado 24 hrs ago. speedometer went out. reads 120 at all times. this is very dangerous , also illegal. something needs to be done to resolve this issue. gm should have quality product ! *tr

2005 silverado instrument panel fails. the first replacement was at 23k miles (mar 07). the engine hours kept resetting. now my vehicle has 43k miles and all gauges are faulty. the gas gauge goes from full to empty and back regardless of the amount of gas in the tank. the engine hour keeps resetting back to zero and the temp gauge moves from hot to cold and back. the same thing is happening on our office vehicle. according to gm special bulletins this is covered for 03 and 04 models using the same ipc. why isn't this covered for 05 models as well? if there is an electrical problem shorting out the ipc it needs to be fixed by gm and not the consumer. this is only one of many problems i've had with this 2005 model. *tr

Speedometer no longer works. began to fail just after it reached 70,000 miles and gm will not fix it. *tr

2005 chevy 1500 silverado - heater blows hot air on drivers side, cold on passenger side - happens without notice - have spent around $300.00 (+) dollars trying to fix this. was told by gm service tech it was the heater motor resistor wiring harness, it burns out the resistor. i replaced both, the resistor burned out again and the wiring harness was fried again. the internet is full of these reports - a recall is needed - this condition is not safe. thank you for your help. *tr

The fan speed selector wiring plug in the passenger side compartment started smoking when the fan was on speed 5. i got it turned off and looked at it when i got home and found the plug at the hot wire and the hot wire (red one) were melted. it happened at 37590 miles. could happen to more vehicles. *jb

Took my truck to the dealership and was advised my tires were almost bald...had only 16,900+ miles. dealership replace tires, but not the same type. yes, same brand, bridgestone dueller a/t. also dealership did a realignment. truck never rode the same after the alignment and the new tires. dealership replaced two on the back after my mechanic noted they were egg shaped. this still did not correct the problem. tires given to me were bad and the dealership would not correct. took it to another dealership and their gm rep wrode with me and noted the truck running rough from the tires. ordered a road force balancing on the tires. this did not work also. now this dealership will look at my vehicle an further. truck is still under warranty. did take it to tire service center and they said the tires are bad and truck needs realignment and also a check of the front end. advisor stated he could feel every divot in the road, which is not normal. faxed their report to the local gm rep and he refuses to acknowledge the problem. neither dealership will even look at the problem. i am afraid for the safety of my family. can you help me? *tr

I was driving 55 mph on a state highway when the engine started revving up. the transmission quit while driving down the highway with only 63,000 miles the transmission would engage but would slip out of gear around 45 mph the dealer replaced the transmission at a cost of $2700. took 3 days 18000 miles later driving down a country road the transmission quit again. i was able to limp it home (60 miles) in first gear. the dealer said it was a rare occurence. the dealer rebuilt the transmission free of charge but it took 11 days the dealer said forward spring assembly broke? *tr

my 2005 general motors product (purchased new) now has 15,600 miles on the odometer, and has had (5) five front end alignments. each time the toe/camber/and caster , have changed. this product had (2) new front tires replaced by a g m dealer @ 2,800 miles it is still "pulling to the left" and as of two days ago the steering wheel does not lock when the key is removed from the ignition. this vehicle is also on it's(3) third battery,(3) third radio, and the sun roof has leaked water inside cab >directly on my left hand on the steering wheel @ 55 mph. the water is dripping from the sunvisor post directly above steering wheel. i have filed my complaint with the n h t s a .. on oct.28,2005 reference # 10141129. *jb
