Problems with 2001 Chevrolet S-10 ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

1) tail gate cable broke on my '01 s-10 pick up have not replaced the part yet,the other side is supporting by itself currently 2) at 80000 miles in jan. of this year the motor had to be replaced at a cost of $1000. it was a used motor. it was knocking, missing and running rough. pieces of bearing were in the engine oil. *jb

I am smelling a strong odor and smoke of oil burning on the exhaust of my 2001 chevy s-10. it is coming from the engine compartment i went to the auto hobby shop at the us naval base and put the vehicle on a lift to see where the leak was coming from. the technician at the hobby shop has an s-10 also. his was doing the same thing. his was coming from a leaky valve cover gasket that would drip oil down the back of the engine on to the exhaust. i could not get a clear look. i did see oil collecting on a brace on the frame near the exhaust. i an afraid that the oil will catch fire. i haven't driven the vehicle since i noticed the problem. i am scheduling an appointment with the local chevy dealer to have it checked out. *jb

1)motor mount broke. 2) day after purchasing used vehicle for dealership, truck was in gear and top speed was about 15mph for about 50 foot. engine would die then have a hard time starting. happened for 30 miles. after that, after running engine for more than 1 1/2 hour, the truck would die. i have to pull over and let it sit for a few seconds before it will start again. happens numerous times.*ak

Intermittently vehicle would not start under normal procedures. vehicle was taken to the dealer, who claimed that the neutral switch needed to be replaced. *ak

Consumer stated that vehicle in the last 3 months in repair shop for transmission problems 9 times. after bringing vehicle to repair shop shop everything else started to break down. also, fuel pump was replaced 3 times. fuel gauge operated poorly, and vehicle died/stopped while driving on the road. *ak

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning vehicle will stall and shut down. *ak

The vehicle stalled, when the vehicle reached the speed of 50 mph. *jb

The engine light illuminated. the dealer replaced a part in the evaporative system. dealer parked vehicle. and then the vehicle caught fire. *jb *ts

While traveling on the highway and without prior warning, the vehicle will lose power and shut down. dealership is aware of the problem. *ak consumer states that if you have driven this vehicle until it is warmed up and or have in hot weather, and shut it off, or idle for some time, and try to start it back up, the temperature of the engine has risen and the clutch fan kicks in, if a person accelerates, the engine will lose a lot of power. *scc

Engine has stalled four times unexpectedly while driving at any speed. dealership has replaced the following components: catalytic converter/ fuel pump/ oxygen sensor, and ignition switch. all repairs have failed to effectively remedy the problem. please provide any additional information / documentation.*ak

Electrical/ at times it will not start,engine turns over but no fire, fuel,ect.30min later it starts. engine/ burning 1qt. of oil per 1,000 miles, dealer knows, at this time nothing done,dealer states defective oil passeges
