We have classified the 2 complaints from 2000 Chevrolet S-10 about ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING into the following categories.
Soon after purchase (sometime in 2001), check engine light came on. diagnosed as water in air pump and check valve corroded open. brought to dealer several times to have repaired with only the last service successful. forward to present. again, check engine light illuminated. computer scanned, same diagnosis. even after previous failures with air pump and check valve, no longer warranted. *jb
While driving check engine light flashed on the dashboard and remained on. then, vehicle stalled. consumer was unable to restart vehicle, and had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection. mechanic determined that the engine needed to be replaced due to sludge inside of the engine. *ak
While traveling on the highway an dwithout prior warning vehicle start leaking oil. *ak

Broken tailgate support cables rusted through recall on other models besides the s-10
Consumer states that while driving the vehicle the check engine light would come on. dealer notified.*ak

Oil leak dealer can't locate source of leak. dt
Driver/passenger seats would need to be slammed back to lock into place after moving them in order to allow someone to get in rear of vehicle, extended cab. have been to dealer 7 times for problem. each time mechanic indicated nothing wrong, and that was how seat should work.*ak
Vehicle died at highway speeds. it has been in repair shop 4 times for this problem, and dealer couldn't find cause. consumer felt it was very unsafe to drive this vehicle. *ak
