Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled and the engine warning illuminated. the vehicle restarted after several attempts; however, the failure recurred on two other occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 203,954.

While driving on the 91 freeway, the power steering went out causing the vehicle to jerk to the right and i nearly collide with the vehicle to my right. in addition the fuel gauge and the engine light came on. *tr i notified gm asking to please take some responsibility since many other drivers are experiencing the same problem, and the defective parts could cause an accident with serious consequences. the response that i received was that it is the government responsibility to place a recall and not theirs. *tr

After filling the gas tank on my 2007 chevy malibu the gas gauge went to empty and began acting erraticaly. this has happened 6-7 times over the past month. typically when this happens the check engine light also comes on but not always. *tt

The following codes are active; p0463 fuel level sensor a circuit high input, b0561 abs $43 sys disabled and c0561 sys disabled issues. the fuel gauge was fluctuating, but has now stopped working. the service engine soon light came on and will not reset to off. the service seat belt warning message came on. the problems were intermittent prior to 50,000 miles, but now, just after 50,000 miles nothing resets. i have found that this is a common problem and the repairs are very expensive, yet nothing has been done to convince gm to recall and make repairs. we own a 2006 malibu with 35,000 miles on it. now, i'm worried that it is going to have the same problem as our 2007 malibu. and, who wants to face those repair bills! *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated upon starting the vehicle, the gear had to be shifted into neutral so that the vehicle would start up. the shift linkage malfunctioned which caused the inability to shift gears. furthermore, the catalytic converter had been replaced on two occasions but the check engine light remained illumnated. the vehicle was not in drivable condition at the time of the complaint. the vehicle had not been taken to the dealership regarding the shift linkage at the time of the complaint. the failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

Engine cut off while driving on highway. could not restart. almost hit by an 18 wheeler as i tried to get to the shoulder. *tr

Have had problems with the fuel sensor, thought it was fuel level sensor but apparently from all others reports these are several problems with the fuel system. this causes the check engine light to come on and will not allow the remote start to work. also have problems with sensor in passenger seat. just works randomly. very concerned this will interfere with air bag deployment. all of these things were fixed while still under warranty but started doing it again after it expired and too costly to fix on my own. *tt
