Loss of power steering. front wheels sound like they're about to fall off. popping noise in steering column. *tr
Driving down the nj turnpike the warning bell chimed and a message stating "power steering" came up. at that point my power steering failed. once i arrived at my destination and turned the car off and on again, the power steering once again engaged. however on the return trip, with my 82 year old mother in the car the power steering once again failed. dealer informed me that there was a failure of the power steering control module/motor assembly and electrical. chevrolet has acknowledged a failure of the power steering in this model, this year and within the range that this vin falls. however the technical service bulletin only applies if the failure is within the steering column. according to the regional manager i spoke with, the chevrolet warranty dept. feels that this problem is just one of the issues you will face when owning a car!!! total and complete failure of the power steering system with no warning and no maintenance ever is just one of those things??? *tw *tr

I was having trouble with the brakes on my car. it is a 2005 chevrolet malibu. i took the car to midas and had the front brakes replaced in april. i didn't drive the car for about 2 weeks after that. when i got back into town i drove as usual. in the middle of june when i would step hard on the brakes the brake light would come on and the warning bell would go off. i took the car back to midas to have it checked on june 23rd. the brake fluid was less than half full. the mechanic checked the brakes. when he lifted the car up you could see where the brake fluid was leaking. he said the caliper on the right brake had blown the seal. he replaced the caliper. he had to get it from california. he said the caliper shouldn't have blown because the car was only over a year old. *jb
On 3-31-06 i purchased a 2005 chevrolet malibu from chevrolet dealership in loris, sc. in june 2006 i began to notice a musty smell coming from the air-conditioner. i called the dealership and took it in to be sprayed to kill the smell. at that time the dealership would not issue me paper work stating this service was done. i have also noticed rusty bolts that secure the front seat. the front seats also have stains that i have attempted on to occasions to clean myself. this car was issued gm certified used vehicle on 2-7-06. this car was purchased in 2005 as a rental in ohio. driving this car aggravates my sinus and allergies. i really feel it has mold in the air-conditioning unit. i complained to the dealership on 9-28-06 about the air-conditioning. the only thing they state is they need to get it in the shop to further check. i really do not trust this dealership due to all the other problems i have had with them unrelated to this issue. i have had more severe sinus and allergy problems after the purchase of this vehicle. i do not know what i need to do in this matter? help me please. i'm now afraid to purchase another used car due to these possible problems. i can't afford to buy a new one and still pay for a car that possibly has mold and bacteria growing in it. *nm
