Turn signals continue to fail and so does the emergency flashers on a daily basis. they just don't come on at all or some times they come on and then flash once and then they stop very dangerous. dt
Turn signals go out intermittently. vehicle has not been examined by dealer.*ak
Turn signals are occasionally not working. when they do work, all bulbs are functional. my wife first reported this to me the other day that they didn't function when she tried to use the turn signal from a stop sign. when i drove the vehicle, the turn signals appeared to function fine at first, then they failed to work when making a lane change. i then tried the emergency flashers momentarily, then the turn signals were functioning again after that time. there must be some sort of switch problem somewhere. i did not get an owners manual with the vehicle, so my investigation is limited to looking at the fuses in the fuse box. *ak
The hazard lights and turn signal lights were defective. sometimes they worked, and sometimes they did not work. if the consumer hit the dashboard the signals would work. this vehicle was not included in the nhtsa recall 03v327000. *ak *tc
Brakes failed for the 2nd time accident occurred have not had car for 3 weeks, have been waiting for gm to send inspector. car is out of service for more than 15 days and gm has exhausted the time limit for action. i do not want this "death trap" (car) back. i also want to be credited for lease payments. i should not have to pay for manufacturer defects. *ak

Tl*the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet malibu. in 2001, the turn signals failed on the vehicle. when the hazard indicators were activated, the turn signals would work. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the hazard warning switch failed and would cost $200 to replace. a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the vehicle was old and not included in nhtsa campaign id number 03v327000 (exterior lighting: hazard flashing warning lights: switch). the manufacturer would not assist with the repair. the vehicle has not been repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 10,800 and current mileage was 17,000. updated 5/26/09 *cn updated 05/28/09.*jb
I bought my 2000 malibu brand new in september 1999.... my engine was pinging and making all kinds of noise, even when warm.... brakes are very hazardous to public safety... i have been to the dealer numerious times for rotor and pad replacements and even gm's so called new thicker and improved rotors they installed on my car was just as bad as all the other ones ... i almost lost control of my car when i was traveling 65 miles per hour on our local highway when i was almost had a wreck due to complete failure of my brakes... my car vibrated so badly and did not slow down...at all!!....i thought i had 2 front tire blowouts... i pulled over on the expressway and my tires were fine it was my brakes...... i went straight to a local autozone and purchased new rotors and pads....gm needs to issue a recall asap before someone gets seriously injured or killed!......i have called gm and made a complaint and was told no recalls were made..... another issue im having is it takes 3 or 4 times to get my car started ... not sure why my car is having all of these problems but it is at a local gm dealership as i type this .......i hope they will be able to fix the noise from the engine and my cd player that goes in and out of power and sometimes wont release my cd's .... i have given up on gm brakes. *ak
Tl* the contact owns a 2000 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the turn signal indicators would only work intermittently. the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 03v327000 (exterior lighting:hazard flashing warning lights:switch). the failure recurred and the vehicle was not further repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 35,000 and the current mileage was 45,000.
I have replaced my tail light bulbs numerous times as well now the entire bulb panel once on each side. the design and the seal allows for water to enter and hold water in the covering/reflectors which in turn cause rusting and blown bulbs. at this point i now need a whole new wiring harness due to the water damage on the passenger side as well as another new bulb panel. i have many friends whom also have the same cars who can not keep tail lights working either. i notice as i drive around many, many others on the road have no visible lights i would have to guess for the same reason. i am pulled over by the police frequently for this as well. i have not been issued a citation yet as i have a spoiler , rear window, and both break lights that are working. this is definitely a design problem and have been told this by many mechanics over the years. this should be corrected to potentially reduce accidents due to lack of rear lights and owners not knowing they have gone out or being unable to repair. the seals are poor and hold bowls of water constantly in the covers. i often see the problem in the passenger side as well as mine. unsure if this in common or just my observation. *tr
Hazard lights and turning lights work intermittently, and as a result have nearly caused several accidents on the highway changing lanes; levels 1 and 2 for the blower for heat/air stopped working; had to replace the brake pads and rotors in the front at 26,000 miles. *ak

Consumer states that tires experience abnormal tire wear and are noisy, firestone affinity. dealer replaced left front bearing and hub assembly. they also tightened front control arm. the tires have been rotated, however noise continues and tires continue to wear, possible suspension problem. *slc *nm
Engine kept knocking and the first dealer said they didn't have time to look at it , they put a new engine in but still having problems, the brakes have been replaced (rotors and pads) 2 times and still are not right, the car would not go from park to reverse on 2 occasions, i have had lights not working, door latches broken. *ak

Gm has a recall on chevrolet malibu's year 2000 (hazard light switch replacement) i have a chevrolet malibu year 2000 with a faulty hazard light switch, but ms. gay miller of chevrolet customer service said, "your vin wasn't included in the recall." help me to understand why you would repair some faulty hazard light switches on chevrolet malibu's year 2000 but not all chevrolet malibu's year 2000 with faulty hazard light switches.
The brakes don't stop properly. the brakes have been changed 3 times. the rotors have been turned once and changed once. the blinkers don't work 95% of the time and the emergency flashers never work properly. the ac settings change on their own as you are driving the car. this causes the compressor to turn on and off, eventually causing premature compressor failure. the vehicle has died 4 times as we were driving down the road, once almost getting us killed as we were turning in front of a truck. also, the brakes have almost caused us to be in a wreck. we have almost been rear ended because of the turn signal failure. the manufacturer and the dealership has had many times to fix this vehicle with no success. to this point, we have not been involved in a motor vehicle accident. however, is it going to take me or my family being killed to get something done with this vehicle?
If the headlights go off at night during the driving, accident could happen. *ak
The vehicle experienced excessive brake shimmy due to warped rotors, also the front brake pads have uneven wear. nlm
Turning signals and flashers have been fixed. they want me to bring the car in on monday so they can replace the pistons. i think they should give me another car. *ak
