We have classified the 2 complaints from 2000 Chevrolet Malibu about SERVICE BRAKES, AIR into the following categories.
I have already filed complaint in regards to the hazard light recall, which for some reason does not cover my 2000 malibu. i noticed other complaints on the malibu and figured i would throw my two cents in. i to have had to drop over $1000 dollars into the most defective car i have purchased this includes the $200 piece of junks i bought when i was a teenager. my list of problems. 1. coolant system leak cost $700 note: mechanic laughed and said this happens all the time is this type of engine. in reviewing other complaints, the one really stands out. nice i am glad gm owns up to its problems. 2. brakes constantly need to be replaced well below mileage. glad gm saved a few bucks under sizing the rotors. 3. within a year the fans switch (levels 1,2) and lighter stopped working. boy gm is saving lots money now. 4. within the past year i had fuel pump failure, nothing like traveling in rush hour traffic doing 75mph and car totally dieing. boy gm has made one quality car. 5. the last insult, my first and likely last gm product is when i thought boy i finally get something from gm in regards to one small defect, the hazard switch, i find out that my vehicle is not covered by this recall. wow not only i am out at least $1000 bucks on piece of crap product, gm does not even want to give a bone to hungry man. with this type of product it is no wonder gm is losing market share faster than any other automotive company. keep up the good work gm. clearly the are some serious defects with this vehicle and the gms ownership with defects.
Every time i would push on my brake pedal it would pop and my brakes would hardly stop. i had it looked at by the gm dealer where i bought my car, they said there was nothing they could do it was a manufactors problem. well it kept happening,so i took it back and had new front brakes put on my car. i have drove it for about 3 months and it is starting to do it again . i would l ike to know if there is some kind of problem with the brake pedal. i think it keep s runing my brakes what ever it is.*ak
I have 2000 chevy malibu. breaks (abs) occationally loose power while on a dry day and may lock on a wet day while car skid to stop (a difficult to control situation). dealer replaced the hub (for a bad abs sensor!) but it did not fix the problem; dealer contends that such occurance is normal and recommends caution. i believe it is result of a malfunction or defect and is only a matter of time for an accident to happen.*ak
I puchased this car with 20000 miles on it. i had it for a little over 5 months and i am replacing a fuel pump that will cost $650. the power steering has corrosion, so the power steering has to be flushed. replacement of the fuel filter, a cracked fan belt, and throttle body service. i have the gm extended warranty, but it only covers the cost to replace the fuel pump. everything else is out of pocket expenses because it is considered "regular maintenance". the brakes also grind and seem to take too long for the car to stop. so i think brakes aren't far behind to be replaced. i am hoping i will not need rotors too. i have read so many complaints about the brakes on the 2000 chevy malibu. i try to buy american because i am a proud one. but the quality seem to be substandard compared to japanese cars. my next car will be foreign. us car makers need to "step it up", as far as quality with these cars.*ak

Vehicle experienced a "ticking noise in the engine." *ph the consumer left front caliper bolt is stripped causing a vibrating/ grinding noise that radiates from the left front wheel under the driver side when the vehicle comes to a complete stop. when the dealer was contacted they stated that they could not duplicate the problem. and the consumer is trying to obtain an over all inspection of the mechanical defects of the vehicle so gm can be held responsible for the faulty automobile. *cb
