Problems with 2014 Chevrolet Impala SERVICE BRAKES

On average, the 2014 Chevrolet Impala starts to “feel” problems with the SERVICE BRAKES and its various aspects after 41 377 miles.

Recently reported SERVICE BRAKES problems on 2014 Chevrolet Impala

The vehicle had water damage from 'clogged sunroof drains', which cause water to run all down the side and back panels causing an extensive amount of damage from one horrible design flaw. some of the things effected was electrical company's such as electronic parking break was engaged and would not release cause the vehicle not to move! next was corrosion on several other inside wires having to do with steering and possibly air bags, but who knows if they will be effective until there is an accident and it's too late to find out if they are dmamged. other safety features such as side detection was corroded so it too malfunctioned. there was a lot of other electrical things damaged but the car is in the shop and i don't know what else could be a huge safe concern. there is now so much mold which is dangerous to be breathing in if not totally replaced. there is an extensive amount of water in the spare tire wheel well that is causing rust and the inability to use this safety feature if needed! this became a horrible safety concern for myself and whomever my be traveling in my vehicle. please do research into this because i could not believe this could happen to a car with only 70,000 miles! my car is in the shop so i cannot take any pictures of it! please help!

I have a traction control light on, also the abs light is on, and i get a stabilitrack warning.

Parking brake warning light stays on. stationary. gm recall #15259. root issue electronic parking brake drag.

We i purchased the car they had changed the wheel bearings and since then i have had to take it back and have it serviced for the same thing several times. i changed out the hub assembly for the same problem and now just like before the traction control light is on and the abs light. i don't know what else to do. i turned into our local walmart and the car just stopped and would not go.

While engine running and vehicle is stationary and/or in motion the brake lights flash intermittently. brakes do not engage, but it does cause cruise control to disengage. saw a recall for this, but my vin not included.

While driving down the road the message center popped up the service power assist steering, and the abs and stabilitrak were also deactivated. this all happened while driving down the highway at 55mph in a straight line.

It has a few different problems. the first being a trunk seal that was already recalled, yet my “fixed” seal wasn’t even fixed and my trunk is still taking on water when it rains. the other problem started a week ago. my abs light came on while driving and the traction control light and neither will go off. today while driving my car felt like it was losing power all of a sudden and a dinger went off and the brake assist light came on as well as 2 parking break lights. both times the lights come on i was driving. none of the lights will go off, and now it’s dinging for a minute or more just because of the warning light.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the vehicle did not fully shift out of park. while driving various speeds, the contact heard a loud grinding noise coming from the brakes. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the dealer and manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 62,860.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving 5 mph, the abs, traction control, and power steering warning indicators illuminated and the steering failed. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

I was driving and i pressed on the brakes the cars starts jerking and it felt and sounded like it was dragging something or scrapping the ground. the abs light comes on and the stability light pops on. i'm out in the middle of the road doing a left or a right turn when this occurs and the car basically stalls for a minute and won't move then all of a sudden jerks really hard and starts moving again. this occurs on the city street and the highway when exiting or changing lanes.

Master cyl and booster failure while in motion

When making turns, left turns especially, the car hesitates and makes a grinding noise. it feels like it loses power, and will not move, which is very scary and dangerous in the middle of rush hour traffic in a busy city. sometimes the stabilyzer and/or traction control lights come one during these episodes. this is the 3rd time i have had to have my car serviced for the exact same problem. i am a single divorced [xxx] woman, i do not have the time away from work or the money to continue to spend on repairs that i have no choice or control over. please recall this problem. i have read hundreds of complaints about the same thing online when i researched my problem. recall !!! or do we have to get killed before you the manufacturer does that? parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *an

While driving around 7:30am on nov 2nd, the vehicle power steering and abs stopped working and warning lights began to go off. i was traveling at 70mph on a wet highway. steering became very difficult. i got off at the very next exit.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while making a left turn at a low speed, a grinding sound was heard coming from the engine compartment. in addition, the brake assist, traction control, stability control, and abs warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 74,000.

After backing out of my driveway, the warning lights stating service stabilitrak, brake assist & traction control. also, abs light stays on and when initiating brakes, brake pedal vibrates and makes a vibrating noise. while i was driving to my appt, the message kept flashing over and over. same problem 6/15/18 & had front hub & bearing assembly replaced. ok until 8/22/18.

I get intermittent service stabilitrack, service brake assist, service traction control notifications where my odometer reading is as well as abs and electronic stabilitycontrol illuminations almost immediately after shifting my vehicle into drive and turning and it is during motion. also there is grinding and hard and difficult braking during these illuminations...

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving at low speeds and depressing the brake pedal ,the vehicle hesitated to slow down and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. in addition, the abs, power steering, and stabilitrak system indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to winegardner motor company (22675 washington st, leonardtown, md 20650, (240) 256-3959) where they informed the contact that the vehicle was serviced in 2014 per nhtsa campaign number: 14v450000 (steering). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,495.

While driving on a rural road approaching a sharp curve my vehicle's control panel began to display service power steering drive with care and service stabilitrack messages respectively; immediately thereafter i began to experience difficulty with steering.

Had a brake inspection one week prior to brakes failing while driving, pedal was soft all the way to the floor while hear air compression noise. no warning lights or alerts.

When i start my car my epb is stuck to my rotors and will not disengage while driving or when i apply the brake. i am in fear that my brakes will catch fire from the fiction. the recall that was on this issue, when my vin was checked it said my car wasn't affected by this but clearly it is. the recall said the dealer needs to update the electronic parking brake software but they will not do it because my car has a salvage title. also my car won't go over 50mph because the brakes are engaged and wont release

I was driving on the interstate at approx 70 mph when the power steering quit working. two warning messages came on stating that the "power steering needed to be serviced", the "stabilitrack needed to be serviced" and the abs warning light came on. the car became difficult to steer. i had my son and a neighbor's child in the car with me. it was not a safe condition.

Having problems with my car when i do a turn in sterring wheel it makes a craking sound i hve changed brakes and other part in order to fix but did not solve the problem , also i braked hard once and the brakes locked and stayed that way i had to get vehicle towed because of this issue and this happen before new brakes, also when i turn all the light turn os as for brakes turning and other things.

Electrical failures. i experienced a failure in my stabilitrak, power steering and abs system on my 2014 chevy impala 2lt. this caused my vehicle to lose power steering, and abs brake control, which while driving on a rainy surface (in ma today 3/2 the weather was insane) was not reassuring. i have read numerous reports of other people experiencing this issue as well. chevy seems to have are recall open for power steering, but my vin supposedly is not impacted despite me having a power steering failure. many, many electrical issues with this car have been reported, and yet chevy does nothing to correct this clear safety concern. thankfully the power steering system only partially reduced itself, and didn't completely fail or else who knows what would have happened. very dangerous and disappointing that nothing is being done to protect people.

While driving, the power steering, abs and stabiitrak all became nonfunctional and the problem has persisted for about a week following the onset. this occurred while driving in a straight line, with no turning involved.

My impala 2014 was making a loud noise from, the rear of the vehicle as if it was the muffler. the noise could only be heard while i was inside the vehicle. i had my wife stand outside while i drove the vehicle down our street and the loud noise could not be heard outside of the vehicle. we could hear the noise once the vehicle reached 20 mph. after getting the muffler checked we found out the muffler was in good condition., but shortly after the impala started making the loud noise we made a left turn at a signal light and the abs, power steering, and stablitrak service lights came on the dashboard. the power steering has gotten increasingly worse since the service light came on.

Parking brake will automaticly partially engage with no indication causing pads and wheel cylinder to heat up causing damage to wheel cylinder, rotor dis, brake pads

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the electronic parking brake indicator illuminated. while the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to stop. the contact had to depress the brake pedal twice to stop the vehicle. the contact heard an abnormal noise in the rear of the vehicle after the indicator illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact notified an unknown local dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 64,970.

Power steering, abs, and stabilitrak lights all coming on. only 40,000 miles on the car. car is starting to become hard to turn. started while i was driving and went through a large puddle of water.

While turning right and backing up or turning right into a parking space at low speed the stabilitrac/ traction control activates and stops the driver side front wheel for a moment, and then releases and a grinding/rubbing noise is heard coming from the drivers side front wheel when this problem happens and is a random problem that happens more frequently, when it is cold and damp.

While driving the car the electronic parking brake engaged. we were on a city street on a hill. had to be towed. engine fault light was on. on 6/22/16 ebrake message on dash. car had difficulty passing inspection on5/31/16

Breaks squeal constantly they are new pads and breaks can find any problems have taken it to several auto shops and dealerships and as about any recall issues it seems as if they are locked up i can not take it through a drive through car wash it will not go up on the rollers the back brakes are like they have locked or i have the emergency brake on and in reverse is when they are dragging this is the first complaint that i have found that is the same issue as mine i have called chevrolet they never mentioned anything about complaints or issues

On a couple of different occasions i have been stopped at a stoplight or stop sign. when the gas pedal is pressed to accelerate, there is hesitation by the vehicle to accelerate causing the vehicle's act of acceleration to occur separately from the act of pressing the gas pedal.

Tl*the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, the brakes were engaged and failed to respond. as a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. the air bags failed to deploy. no injuries were reported and a police report was filed. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 32,000.

Parking brake is setting its self at times. recall was done in january 2015 but still having the same issue may 2015.

Tl* the contact owns 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact received a notification for nhtsa campaign number 14v541000 (brakes). however, the parts needed were not available. the dealer was contacted and advised the contact that the parts would not be available until february. in addition, the contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the power steering failed and when engaging the brake the vehicle hesitated and lunged forward. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 527.

Tl*the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, the brake warning light illuminated. in addition, the vehicle skid to a stop and the engine stalled. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the e-brake needed to be replaced and the electronic parking brake software needed to be updated. the vehicle was repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 14v541000 (parking brake).the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 11,000. the vin was not available.

The parking brake will not disengage the rear brakes after pressing the electronic parking brake button. the red parking brake light on the dash goes out but the rear brakes are still engaged. the driver will be unaware that the problem exists until smoke begins rolling out of the rear wheels. this is a safety hazard that should be investigated by nhtsa due to the number of similar complaints already reported. *tr

I just had got my new car that day. i was on my way home and i was approaching a stop sign and i tried breaking abd i could not stop so i had to go on to the curb which i sided with a tree to avoid hitting another car in front of me or kids ridingh in street. i took it in to get looked at and they said they didn't see anything wrong with breaking. so i kept driving after that and it is still doing so i took it in again and they said the same thing again which is making really upset because i am scared of hurting someone or myself and kids when it does that. i am spending alot of money on my new car and im not happy with it. i cant kept running into things to avoid hitting someone or thing when it does not stop. i have called the dealership and left messages for service manger which he has not responded back. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving at various speeds, the brake pedal was applied and the vehicle vibrated violently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the type of fuel needed to be switched to regular. the fuel was switched, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 800. updated 03/31/15*lj

As a rental vehicle to use while warranty repairs where being performed on my traverse; i had been rented a 2014 impala. to my surprise the following morning i came to a stop and the engine quite, there was a clear lane within site that i figured i could push the dead vehicle to. i opened the door, while keeping my foot on the brake and positioned myself in the door frame to push. then i removed my foot off the brake to reach in and place it into neutral and start pushing. to my surprise the vehicle started by its self and accelerated away from me, the door frame almost knocking me down, yet luckily i was able to catch the car and get back to the brake before the car crashed. i came to find out that this was an economic feature on that vehicle. i feel great concern that this car started when my seat belt had been removed and door opened, would they have at least considered some sort of precaution from this occurring. please take this serious, i know that i was not advised of this feature, and had i not caught the car or gotten knocked down and run over, the outcome would have been much more serious. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving various speeds, the brakes locked up. the contact stated that the engine blew out, which also caused the catalytic converter to fail. the contact stated that the dealer could not determine why the vehicle overheated. when the vehicle overheated, the contact became locked inside the vehicle until it cooled down. in addition, the high beam headlights were very dim and dimmer than the daytime running lights. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the vehicle was designed in that manner. the vehicle was repaired several times for the failures, but the remedies failed to repair the vehicle. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 54.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while idling at a stop light, she took her foot off of the break pedal and attempted to drive but the vehicle would not move. the contact depressed on the accelerator pedal with force until the vehicle moved. the contact the took the vehicle to dealer but they were unable to determine the cause of failure. there were no repairs made. the manufacture was notified of the failure but they did not provide a remedy. the failure mileage 14,000. lg

While driving on texas highway 287, southbound, my anti-collision alert system activated. it sounded a loud beeping, followed by a full application of all brakes. startled, i was able to apply the accelerator pedal to resume my speed. approximately 5 miles further, the incident repeated it self. during the first incident, there were no vehicles in front of me, none. the road was dry, straight and free of any obstacles. there was no traffic behind me. the second time the car automatically locked up my brakes, there was a car behind me, but he was able to swerve and avoid rear-ending me. again, there was no traffic of any type ahead of me and the road was flat, dry and straight. again i was able to apply the accelerator pedal to regain control of the car and pull over to the side where i .shut off the engine. i restarted the engine and proceeded to my destination in springtown, texas without further incident. i took the car to the dealership the next week for a diagnostic search and repair of the incident. they had the car for three days and told me nothing was wrong with the car. i'm filing this complaint, because i believe that this is a potential deadly threat to me, my passengers, or other drivers. *tr

I've owned my vehicle for over a year and on 3 occasions the emergency parking brake would be applied on its own after i would turn off the vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact was using the vehicle as a rental. the contact was driving 20 mph when the brakes independently seized. the vehicle came to a complete stop then eventually resumed proper function. the next day the failure recurred while driving 40 mph, the contact heard 3 to 4 beeps followed by the brakes independently seizing. as a result, another vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. there were no injuries and a police report was not filed of the incident. the dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 2,500.

While traveling at highway speed in light blowing snow, vehicle began to vibrate. vibration was extreme and constant. after contacting two chevrolet dealerships we were advised it was a common problem with snow building up on rims. we were advised to power wash the inside of the rims. this was done and the problem was fixed. during the approximate 800 mile trip in and out of snow this had to be done twice. chevrolet was contacted and we were advised there was nothing they could do. the vibration becomes violent enough that highway speeds are not obtainable and the vehicle is hard to control. this forced us to travel below the posted minimum freeway speed until an exit with a power wash available. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that smoke started to emit from the rear of the vehicle and shortly after a fire started. the fire department was contacted and the fire extinguished on its own. the vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer. the technician stated that the brakes, brake pads and brake lines needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was awaiting further inspection of the vehicle. the approximate failure mileage was 6,000.

At 55 mph on a slippery right hand side curve (speed limit is 65 mph) vehicle under-steered and lost traction completely, without touching the brakes, it started to slow down and skidded to the outside of the curve (to the left). i tried to get it back to the driving lane, it started to skid laterally to the right and slowed down until it hit a reflector post on the edge of the right lane and stopped. vehicle information on the dash board read "ice detected...". although the damage on the right door was a very minor dent, the car deployed all 4 head curtain airbags and 2 right side airbags, engine was shut down and front seat-belts were stuck. few minutes later, the engine ran normally with the "ice detected .." message still on. it seems that the airbags sensors were activated for no required reason for a minor dent on the door. also, the stability and the faulty braking system might be of a great safety issue on this vehicle. *tr

Tl* the contact leased a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving approximately 70 mph with the cruise control engaged, the front crash sensor warning indicator illuminated as the brakes independently depressed. the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, which disengaged the brakes. the failure recurred on several occasions. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but the failure was unable to be determined. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact also stated that while the vehicle was parked with the keys out of the ignition, the radio, the light behind the control buttons on the steering wheel, and the lights behind the display for the radio illuminated; however, there was nothing displayed on the screen for the radio. the failure recurred on several occasions. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100. ma 10/19/2015 *cn
