I was driving on a residential street, going no more than 25 mph with my two two year olds in their car seats behind me. suddenly and simultaneously, all four of the side airbags deployed (front and back), knocking my girls seats together, the front right side of the car dropped down and started grinding on the wheel. i was able to pull off to the side of the road thankfully. i turned the car off, and when i got out to look at the front, the car door shut, and for the first time, automatically locked me out, my kids inside, with its own key and my purse as well.

While driving on city streets and the highway, the stablitrax lights come on then service indicators displays: service stablitrax, front camera, and power steering. the car slows down significantly and the power steering then locks up until you dismiss all of the codes. then you can hear a clicking that sounds like the car is trying to restart. it happens sporadically. i took it to a shop and he stated to check for recalls because there have been quite a few impalas being brought in for the same reason. i contacted chevy and they stated that there are no known recalls for my make and model.

Driving car made right turn and lost power steering. service indicator text appeared to warn me. track control and stabitrack was also affected.

Started my vehicle and power steering warning came on, dismissed it, stability control warning appeared, dismissed it, traction control light and abs light remained on. this occurred when leaving a friend's driveway and driving onto a county road. the power steering was inoperative! took vehicle to repair shop. mechanic found left rear wheel speed sensor ring broken. this should not happen! there are 50215 miles on this car and it is very well maintained.

Takata recall. the power steering light signal came on while starting the car. the sterring wheel waa stiff. the car acted as if it didnt want to start when it on my radio station was on some random station as if the battery was messed with. while driving and in park the passenger airbag light goes off as if noone is in the passenger seat when clearly someone is sitting buckeled in. the power steering happend today and the airbag light has happened occasionally in the past couple months.

Takata recall my steering assist light is on as well as stabilitrack is on occurred after going through water crossing

A few problems. wheel bearing senors go bad effecting power steering and stability control. replaced 3 wheel bearing on different wheels in past 12 months. also 20" rims with low pro tires are a problem. had 2 plow outs in past 6 months when hitting pot holes and damaged 3 rims. very costly to buy rims at $650 a piece and tires at $230 each. a safety problem not knowing if you will have a tire plow out because of a rough road or pot hole in the road. i have been driving 54 years and never had a problem like this before. car was in motion with wheel bearing problem and tire and rim problem. at different times i was driving on city streets and highway. this problem happen at different times but most recent 5/5/19

Power steering went out while driving vehicle on the highway. abs error lights and stabilization alert popped up, but it did not call out that power steering was unavailable intil i had later shut off and restarted the car.

Every warning light on the dashboard became illuminated. lost power steering, car became sluggish, lacked speed, and power. braking control was limited. vehicle was drive able only in limp mode.

While driving down the road the message center popped up the service power assist steering, and the abs and stabilitrak were also deactivated. this all happened while driving down the highway at 55mph in a straight line.

I have filed a complaint last month about my 2014 chevy impala's side detection system, back up camera warnings, and forward collision systems all not working. today i am adding that while driving on the freeway in moderate rain doing 55mph, my stabilitrak light came on, abs light came on and i lost power steering. i did not lose control of my car, but it could have been bad. i called chevy as soon as i got home to file a complaint. i will be bringing it to the dealership tomorrow as i have read other complaints of this happening as well with the next thing to go is the car won't start. this situation is uncalled for in a vehicle with 45,000 miles at a price tag of $35,000, especially when the other issues started happening around d 38,000 miles. before today, when i started my car the service lights for front camera, park assist, and side detection all lit up. i did not take it to the dealership at that point because i heard it was expensive to fix now i have to as the safety of driving it is severely unstable.

We lost power steering. there are at least 2 bulletins on the steering control module. total pscm failure. dealer claims entire steering system needs to be replaced. car has 68 k miles. who would ever expect to lose this critical system on a well cared for car. this is a dangerous condition

Service power steering was displayed on my vehicle which made you're driving very dangerous and unsafe. i took the car to the dealership but they couldn't fine anything wrong but the problem was clearly there. this occurred on february 1 and again on march 8.

While in motion around 30mph, felt a vibration followed by 2 messages on the info center. service stabilitrack, service power steering drive with care. the abs light and the stabilitrack lights are illuminated on the dash as well as no longer having power steering.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving 5 mph, the abs, traction control, and power steering warning indicators illuminated and the steering failed. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

While driving around 7:30am on nov 2nd, the vehicle power steering and abs stopped working and warning lights began to go off. i was traveling at 70mph on a wet highway. steering became very difficult. i got off at the very next exit.

Takata recall upon making a left turn, the abs light flashes on and off, the engine grinds, and the car hesitates in the middle of the turn. on occasion the dashboard will indicate a stabilitrak warning. the pavement is dry and there no sand present. it happens most frequently when making a left turn after a complete stop. there are multiple forums by other impala owners with the exact issue.

Upon starting the car warning message appeared on the dash stating power steering drive with caution. the car seemed to almost stall after that. the vechicle was stationary at the time. it immediately became hard to steer. after 20 mins i was ablw to turnthe car off and restart it and drive.

2014 chevrolet impala. consumer writes in regards to issues with power steering. *ld *js

Steering locks while driving

I get intermittent service stabilitrack, service brake assist, service traction control notifications where my odometer reading is as well as abs and electronic stabilitycontrol illuminations almost immediately after shifting my vehicle into drive and turning and it is during motion. also there is grinding and hard and difficult braking during these illuminations...

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving at low speeds and depressing the brake pedal ,the vehicle hesitated to slow down and the steering wheel became difficult to steer. in addition, the abs, power steering, and stabilitrak system indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to winegardner motor company (22675 washington st, leonardtown, md 20650, (240) 256-3959) where they informed the contact that the vehicle was serviced in 2014 per nhtsa campaign number: 14v450000 (steering). the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 65,495.

While driving on a rural road approaching a sharp curve my vehicle's control panel began to display service power steering drive with care and service stabilitrack messages respectively; immediately thereafter i began to experience difficulty with steering.

Power steering was lost, stability light came on - was told this was due to erosion - had repaired at my cost - extended warranty would not cover as techician stated my fault although apparently this area is not visible during normal service. now the car twice has not started at all - all electronic sensors go dead. have taken to chevrolet dealer and they are unable to determined what is wrong. at least every other time i turn on car, the stability light or steering light come on, as well as the park assist light. i wait for about 10 minutes or so, try again, and they may or may not go off. 2 - the rear view mirror fell off during the first month i purchased, so it was under warranty and they "re-glued) it several times - finally it was recalled, and replaced about 15 months ago, now the mirror is doing the same thing again. 3- last is the pillar trim - it peeled and i had to have replaced at my cost - this should not have occurred. i fear i have a lemon, but more importantly i am not receiving the service necessary from chevrolet dealer - i have maintained the service on my car through the dealer, but so many unanswered concerns leaves me at risk for accident should car just stop!

The power steering failed on a interstate ramp, i pulled to the side and restarted the car and it worked again. it failed two more times on the drive home and twice while driving to the dealership. the car had 11035 miles and was 40 months old. i had to pay $3051 to have the power steering rack replaced.

While driving power steering failed, leaving a very dangerous situation. for a car with only 74,000 miles it is unacceptable that the entire power steering rack should be replaced and only a dealer can reprogram that rack. it is a cost of over $3,000 and with a prior minimal recall i smell a larger quality issue.

It would cut off and will not start with everything going blank thought it was the battery got a new one to replace the old one but still doing the same thing then the power steering light will come on sometimes when driving and we put in a new alternator thinking that it would solve the problem that didn't work still cuts off and won't start until 15-20 minutes had it checked by a mechanic and they couldn't find the problem scared to drive it do to having my kids in the car with me or going to work and it happens often then it should and only had the car for a year and a half and it have done it at least 5 times already

Driving in highway and the power steering wheel becomes extremely hard to turn move it completely electric shut off it was in dangerous situation vehicle running and and can't even move the steering wheel dashboard showed power steering need service. went to side of highway for few mins and went back to car and turn on work back to normal this will be the second time happen 1st was on the garage turn engine but steering wheel wont move at all verh hard...

While driving vehicle on interstate after work a burning smell was noticed followed by the stabilitrak, abs and service power steering lights came on, which made the vehicle very hard to turn. took vehicle to a chevrolet dealership believing it was a recall due to research online, service department stated the recall was fixed so they reprogrammed it. upon leaving the dealership, the brakes were grinding and all the lights came back on. took back to service and it's taken 3 days for them to try and figure out what is wrong. they've now decided it needs a new steering gear. i've researched other 2014 impalas having a recall on steering gears but this vehicle is not listed? how is that? i feel it needs to be recalled and fixed since there's been previous recalls regarding the whole electrical steering system, steering modules, and steering gears. the service department is saying it is going to be $2,800 to fix.

I was driving on the interstate at approx 70 mph when the power steering quit working. two warning messages came on stating that the "power steering needed to be serviced", the "stabilitrack needed to be serviced" and the abs warning light came on. the car became difficult to steer. i had my son and a neighbor's child in the car with me. it was not a safe condition.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving approximately 35 mph, the steering wheel seized and the power steering warning indicator illuminated. the contact turned the vehicle around and drove home. the vehicle was taken to boyd chevrolet cadillac buick (1875 spartanburg hwy, hendersonville, nc 28792) where it was diagnosed that it needed to be reprogrammed. the vehicle was not repaired due to the repair fees. the manufacturer informed the contact that the warranty had expired and did not offer further assistance. the approximate failure mileage was 23,729.

Electrical failures. i experienced a failure in my stabilitrak, power steering and abs system on my 2014 chevy impala 2lt. this caused my vehicle to lose power steering, and abs brake control, which while driving on a rainy surface (in ma today 3/2 the weather was insane) was not reassuring. i have read numerous reports of other people experiencing this issue as well. chevy seems to have are recall open for power steering, but my vin supposedly is not impacted despite me having a power steering failure. many, many electrical issues with this car have been reported, and yet chevy does nothing to correct this clear safety concern. thankfully the power steering system only partially reduced itself, and didn't completely fail or else who knows what would have happened. very dangerous and disappointing that nothing is being done to protect people.

Abs and stability control lights came on 3days ago

While driving, the power steering, abs and stabiitrak all became nonfunctional and the problem has persisted for about a week following the onset. this occurred while driving in a straight line, with no turning involved.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving approximately 45 mph, the power steering warning message displayed and the audible chime activated. the steering wheel became very difficult to turn. the vehicle was taken to ballas buick (5715 west central ave, toledo, oh) where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering gear was faulty and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified, but no assistance was offered. the failure mileage was 48,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while operating the vehicle, the message "service power steering and stabilizing track" displayed and the power steering malfunctioned, which caused the steering wheel to become very difficult to turn. the cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact indicated that the vehicle was serviced for the same failure on january 19, 2018 by an independent mechanic who replaced the steering sensor, but the failure recurred. the local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failures. the failure mileage was 39,000.

Power steering went out while i was driving.

I've had an issue with my 2014 chevy impala ltz getting locked up when turning the steering wheel. this started a few months ago, i took it to the dealership but they were unable to recreate the problem. the first incident occured 09/2017, i was driving on the highway going 60 mph, upon switching lanes it felt like the steering wheel jammed and locked for a second and the electrical power went out on the radio and dash. the alerts then said "power steering drive with care' & "front camera' or something to that effect. this has happened various times since on city streets, another message i've seen has said something about stabilitrak. the most recent episode occured on 12/25/2017. i was driving on a city street and turned right and the steering wheel jammed and the radio went out and the same messages came up, i took a video this time so that the dealership can see what the issue is. i found that there is a recall on other 2014 chevy impalas for similar issues with power steering but when searching under my vin number there is no recall on my car but i feel as though this is a mistake and my car should be recalled for this issue. this is a big safety issue and a big concern to me as i have two small children and almost crashed while on the freeway due to this issue. luckily the other times this has occured i was on city streets not driving at a high speed but regardless it is still a safety hazard.

My impala 2014 was making a loud noise from, the rear of the vehicle as if it was the muffler. the noise could only be heard while i was inside the vehicle. i had my wife stand outside while i drove the vehicle down our street and the loud noise could not be heard outside of the vehicle. we could hear the noise once the vehicle reached 20 mph. after getting the muffler checked we found out the muffler was in good condition., but shortly after the impala started making the loud noise we made a left turn at a signal light and the abs, power steering, and stablitrak service lights came on the dashboard. the power steering has gotten increasingly worse since the service light came on.

Tl* the contact owns a 2014 chevrolet impala. while driving 50 mph, the abs and service power steering warning indicators illuminated, causing the steering wheel to seize. the contact pulled over, shut off the vehicle, restarted the vehicle, and the failure went away. two days later, the steering failed and the warning indicators illuminated again. the vehicle was driven to the local dealer (walker chevrolet, carothers pkwy, franklin, tn, 37067) while manually controlling the steering wheel. the vehicle was diagnosed that the rear passenger wheel bearing failed and that there was no connection to the power steering. the rear passenger bearing hub and assembly were replaced. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: [xxx]. the dealer reassured the manufacturer that the vehicle was repaired; however, no further assistance was offered. the failure mileage was approximately 70,017. *bf information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I experienced loss of power steering while turning through an intersection. took the vehicle to a dealership to get a diagnosis. the results were that the there was a loss of communication to bcm.
