Recently reported SEAT BELTS problems on 2007 Chevrolet Impala

Drivers side seat belt latch malfunctioning. buckle will not insert properly. this is the second impala my family had that had this problem. it appears a spring clip of metal comes out or breaks off inhibiting the insertion of the buckle.the first 2 images are of the defective buckle. the third image is of a working properly buckle( passenger side)

I did not know who to report this to or i would have done this about 6 months ago. every day when it is the first time to drive the car for the day, i have trouble getting the drivers side seatbelt to latch. it does not latch for my first attempt. but it may take a few times before it finally does. i have been very concerned that at some point it will not latch at all or that i may not be able to unlatch it. i do not want to drive without the seatbelt. there are times when i have my grandchildren with me so this is a concern for me. my husband purchased a devise to cut the belt if necessary. please let me know if this situation can be resolved before something happens for the driver of the car.

The drivers side seatbelt fails to latch. on the morning of 5/22/2015 i was able to get the seatbelt to finally latch. when i went to lunch i could not get the seatbelt to latch no matter what i tried. the red button moves up and down freely just like the other seatbelt latches in the vehicle. is there a recall on this year impala?

Attempted to latch seatbelt on driver's side. buckle would not latch. buckle slides in but latch does not lock buckle in place. contacted dealer and was told. "why would the warranty cover that?" with all the recent seat belt issues with manufacturers, i would have thought this would have been a concern to the dealer. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the front passenger side seat belt failed to latch to the buckle and the front passenger side seat belt warning indicator was illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 94,000.

I bought this vehicle used 17 months ago and have had intermittent problem with seatbelt but yesterday the seat belt would not buckle into latch on driver's side at all, checked for debris, coins in the way, not there. the red release latch will not release and pop back open so that it can accept the buckle. i called the dealer and he said there are no recalls for this item and i can bring it in and pay $106.00 for them just to look at it. i am going to try and find the parts to fix it myself. *tr

Dear nhtsa, please investigate the following serious concerns that have affected my vehicle safety in addition to other chevy impala drivers: vehicle: 2007 chevy impala. 65,000 miles, 1 owner, impala ls 3.5 l v6 safety concern # 1- intermediate steering shaft - gm refuses to acknowledge the seriousness of this problem. my vehicle's steering wheel clicks during driving & temporarily jams causing a feeling of disconnection from the road. it has caused a momentary loss of steering control, and i feel this is a serious safety concern to be addressed. this is an ongoing design problem for many gm models(as per my google search), gm refuses to make corrections to the design nor issue a recall. --------------------------------- safety concern # 2- power steering pump- power steering pump loosing effectiveness & turning performance, meaning pump may be failing at any time. this too is another common problem with chevy models. please encourage gm to expand power steering pump recall to include chevy impala models. ---------------------------- safety concern # 3- rear back seat center seat belt looses tension when used in conjunction with infant car seat. when vehicle goes around 30 mile/hr turns or mild turns, seat belt locking mechanism(the one that holds the seat belt tense during braking) disengages & permits the seat belt to loosen causing child seat to move across the seat & or in one serious case with my son flip sideways(luckily my wife caught the seat as it tipped sideways). i have followed all safety instructions as per car seat manufacturer (evenflow aura travel system). this is a concern, since the tension only stays firm in abrupt stops, this leads me to question the safety in a roll over scenario. i have since used the seat level car seat hooks since the past few events( this greatly reduces the ease of sharing the car seat between vehicles). my other vehicle(nissan altima) has no such problem, the tension mechanism on the altima remains firm

I was traveling on the hwy at about 70-75 miles per hour when i tried to miss an object in the road my steering wheel locked up and i spun to the right resulting in my car hitting the guard rail and spinning back across the hwy to hit the median wall. my passenger was injured b/c his seatbealt did not restrain him and no airbags deployed. nothing has been done to the car it is still in post accident condition. *tr

I own a 2007 chevrolet impala. both front seat belts do not latch or when they do latch they unlatch on their own. i've taken this car to the dealer twice and the dealer has not resolved the issue. i am driving a car that does not have working seat belts. *tr

We purchased this vehicle from wally mccarthy's in minnesota on 12/21/07. on february 15, 2008, the car was involved in a severe collision when other driver failed to stop. on star was alerted immediately and showed that air bags deployed. however, air bags did not deploy and pretensioner belts failed causing permanent injuries. wally mccarthy refuses to speak with us and gm offers nothing in resolving case as of 2/17/09. see cnn ireport for photos under "chevy impala". *tr
