My complaint concerns my 2007 chevy impala transmission floor shifter is locking in park.. i could not depress the button on the floor shifter, to shift to reverse. i tried turning the steering wheel which of course is locked when the vehicle is in park. i am worried that next time it will not get unstuck. so i checked the internet and saw many comments about 2007 impala shifter's locking and realized i needed to file a complaint. *tr

I was driving down the interstate about to get off on a exit and the service brakes and service traction control light came on. the car was unable to slow down, the car jerked and the brakes went out. *tr

I was driving down the road suddenly check engine light came on speed reduced get a reduced power/traction control message and speed drop to 40 in matter of seconds engine running very rough. almost caused a accident due to this happening at the morning rush hour on commute to work. i looked online this seems to be a common complaint that there needs to be something done about it. i have had other issues (eg: steering mid-shaft failure front end shimmy, brake issues, connector to rear defrost melting, wires in shifting console breaking to where couldn't remove keys or get out of park) with this vehicle and called gm about them and they assign a case number and tell you sorry you will need to pay and keep receipt if there is ever a recall issued. *tr

When the car is idle upon acceleration, the car jerks profusely, while the heat/cool system is in operation there is a grinding noise along the dash area and continues for 5 minutes after controls has been shut off, drive side door electrical refuses to work to lock/unlock position. *tr

After driving it for many years and having no problems, i drove it a short distance and parked and could not remove the key, i tried taking it out of park and putting it back in park and after trying that several times and it not working i tried (jiggling the shifter when it was in park) and it released. it happened again for the 2nd day in a row. i will bring it to a local repair shop after the weekend is over and see if it is a bad wire or something. *tr

The power window keeps breaking. we take it to get fixed and a month or two later it breaks. the last time it went out my window shattered. i have been driving without a driver side window and a passenger window being held up with pencils. i can't afford to keep paying for these windows to be fixed every month. *tr

While driving car started to jerk and hesitate the check engine light came on along with a message of reduced engine power. could not drive the drive over 5 mph. was able to get to the side of the road. had to push the car into a parking lot as the engine will no longer start but cranks over fine. had to buy a scanner to read the code because the car was not able to drive to a auto repair shop or auto parts store to read the codes. the po641 code was set. checked and tested the sensor wires for the 5volts every one that i tested showed ok. replaced the gas pedal assemble because of the code that could be a source of the problem no difference. cleaned the throttle body unit no change car will not start.checked and gave all the wires a good pull and or tug to wiggle the connectors and took apart all sensor connections no corrosion was found.all grounds appear to be good. no broken wires are found no blown fuses were found.after 2 days was able to start engine with the message reduced engine power and car died again and would restart but not idle. was able to rev engine and keep it running but once it idled it would die and sometimes not restart again.at this time car is unsafe to operate on any roadway because it might die and random times. *js

My car has been having numerous electrical problems. i have changed my headlights and tail lights ect probably twice since i've had it, bought november 2013. my transmission shifts really hard it had just started this. i am scared something is going to happen while me and my 2 year old daughter are on the road. *tr

I was going over the vehicle for the season and found i had a leak in the power steering line. the line effected was covered with a ribbed plastic sheathing like what is used for a wire harnesses. the sheathing caused road salt to build up and corrode the line, causing a leak and loss of power steering. there were two lines held together, side by side, with a plastic bracket but only one of those had the sheathing and i cannot understand why it was there. i also found a wire that overheated and melted the insulation and left the wire bare. it's located behind the power steering pump as viewed from the passenger side of the engine compartment under the plastic that displays the engine size. the plastic is held down with a couple of pins that the plastic pushes down over when installed. the dealer couldn't tell me what the wire is for when i called to explain what i found. *js

the vehicle failed to shift into park. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that there was a broken wire in the btsi solenoid terminal which needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired by re wiring the ground wire to the shifter where the pin had broken. on may 3rd the key got stuck in the ignition and would not come out. let the car sit for 24 hours the battery died and the key released out of the ignition. took the car to the dealership on may 5, 2014 and the shifter wires were re constructed. car still acts as if the shifter is not going to shift. *tr

As i was pulling out of a parking lot the vehicle just shut off with no warning. thank god i wasn't going too fast as i had no steering, no brakes, etc... checked the gm website about the recall and it states to take everything off the key ring except the key. well i've only got the key on the ring so that excuse doesn't wash. i called the gm customer center and they told me that my car wasn't included in the recall with the faulty ignitions, then they hung up on me. well it should be. i think this ignition problem is a lot bigger than they are admitting. what am i supposed to do, i can't afford to fork over big bucks to a dealer. i'm a single working mom. *tr

I was driving down a 6 lane highway with a median in the middle. i was in the left hand lane/fast lane driving atleast 35-40mph. i hit a bump in the road and my ignition switched from run to off causing me to lose all power in the vehicle.. since i was in the left lane luckily a turn around was near and i was able to safely pull the vehicle over before my steering wheel locked up. *tr

Steering spills oil and hard to turn rear brake tire pressure sensor is on. *tr

Shorting of the driver side headlight, tired system alert warning on. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet impala. while driving approximately 60 mph, a burning odor was present near the driver's seat area. in addition, the trunk was not opening, the rear right turn signal was not working due to a blown fuse, and the front speakers were not working properly. the failures recurred on multiple occasions. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 83,000.

I have 2007 chevy impala....i have trouble with my electrical...examples: radio lighting dim or normal, alarm for ignitionkey left in place dings muffled or normal ..headlights work or one side or another goes out periodically, visibility...huge windshield post; excessive tire wear at low mileage...suspension problems with "weird tire wear on insides of rear tires; manufact. defect number tsb#08032. and other customer complaints there are ignition problems, fuel tank adhesive problem and a steering knuckle problem; this means ignition can turn off while driving, excessive rear tire wear resulting in tire blow outs(hard to see because it is inside of rear tires and uneven wear, also let us not forget that the fuel can escape from gas tank and cause a fire and windshield posts terrible for visibility etc....gm is well aware of these problems and has recalled police impalas and not civilian owned impalas,,,,could someone please tell me why gm is allowed to make such a vehicle...millions of people have them and are in danger, this was to be my last car..i am a senior, disabled and wanted to be a loyal made in the usa customer...i cannot afford all these repairs and it seems gm is not doing the majority ie out of my pocket. i cannot afford another car and do i pass this on to another person to be unsafe. also i have 63,000 miles on my car and all four doors on the inside need repair due to rust. kept in garage. also noticed another impala has rust spot same place i do on trunk near impala need cambur kit and wheel alignment...purchased new set of tires. *tr

This is in addition to claim # [xxx]. when i turn the heat or air conditioner on and adjust the knobs there is a loud clapping sound on the passenger side dash board. it last for about five minutes then stops very annoying. when will these cars be recalled to fix these problems. thank you information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Service traction control message displayed followed by engine power will be reduced message. both traction control light and engine check light are both on. *tr

The first instance i was driving and the "service brake system" flashed on the display. i had all brake pads replaced at dealer on 1/3/2013. 2/7/2013 i was in traffic and the car suddenly slows to about 10 mph and would not accelerate the dash then displayed "reduced engine power" and the check engine light came on. on 2/14/2013, i had the throttle positioning sensor replaced and at the same time had the rear defrost wiring repaired because that had not been working for over a year. on 3/4/2013 the car would not start by the factory remote start, so went out and started the car with the key, when i returned to the car the vehicle would not start at all the chime would sound the lights on the dash flashed but no start. i waited a few minutes then tried again, the car started briefly (50 seconds) "reduced engine power" appeared on the dash then it shut down completely. i looked under the hood saw the battery attachment was loose, tightened that up and then the car started up. however, the car radio (factory radio never replaced), the chime, or the ticking of the turning signals no longer work. i have an appointment with dealer on 3/14/13, but the car seems to be failing all around. in reading chevy/gm forums, there are thousands of chevy owners experiencing these same issues, chevy/gm needs to take ownership and investigate these vehicles to determine the root cause of the problems. nearly 3000 dollars later in dealer repairs is not getting to the bottom of the issue. i was nearly in a crash due to the reduced engine power issue and that was scary enough to make me not want to drive this car or an at all. *tr

On monday august 7,2012 i started experincing problems withmy car not starting so we replaced the battery. then sat. august 12, 2012 my car completely shut down. after i got jumped we drove it home only to realize the car wa going only 30 mph. having to climb hill was very fustrating. took it to o'rielly and the computer read p0606 which has to do something with the modules. also all the electrical inside the car is going haywire, key stuck in ignition, and has to lock doors automactially due to keypad not working. please do a recall on this before someone or family is seriously injured or killed. as a parent i travel alot with mine. *tr

While i was driving an error message appeared on the panel "engine power reduced". the car immediately slowed down as if the engine had cut-off completely. it did not and i was able to drive to the side of the road at about 10 mph. luckily it was late at night, the few cars that were driving near me were able to change lanes before a collision occurred. *tr

shifter cannot be moved from park position (repair/reroute brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) solenoid harness) models: 2007-2009 chevrolet impala supercede:this bulletin is being revised to end the need for information from the field and provide repair information. please discard corporate bulletin number 08-07-30-007a (section 07 - transmission/transaxle). condition some customers may comment on either of the following conditions: - the key cannot be removed from the ignition. - the transmission gear selector (shifter) cannot be moved out of the park position. cause this condition may be caused by an incorrectly routed brake transmission shift interlock (btsi) solenoid harness which can make it difficult to install. in some instances, the wiring looms are tangled, causing stress on the wires in the connector at the btsi. if the btsi harness is routed incorrectly, it may also result in a wire pinching issue. correction important do not use force to move the gear selector (shifter). using force may cause damage to the btsi. inspection/routing and repair of the btsi wiring harness/connector 1. check for wire damage at the btsi connector terminal ends. refer to si for repair procedures. 2. for very intermittent issues, check the btsi wire harness individual circuits for broken or crimped wires. refer to si for repair procedures. 3. inspect the routing of the wiring harness leading to the btsi connector. the illustrations above show the btsi harness routed incorrectly. 4. reroute the wiring to create available slack and avoid future occurrences. *tr

As i was driving on the highway, suddenly reduced engine power came up on the dash board. followed by the steering wheel locking up and the car shutting off. after 20 minutes the car started again, but now i drive witha constant fear of this happening again, and what if my children are in the car next time! i have a constant issue with the power steering line leaking, although i have replaced the pump, and the fuel line. i feel like i am throwing my money into a bottom less pit. what do i do from here? *tr

Yesterday, 12/1/2011, my passenger headlight failed. over a year ago, i had went to replace the bulb, and it came on after jarring it, so i waited to replace the bulb until today. this morning, neither bulb worked. thinking this may be a problem with the headlight switch, i turned automatic lighting off, then back on. that failed, however the brights did work. i pulled over and rapped on the driver headlight housing a few times, and the light came on. then i did the same to the passenger side, which also came on. very unsafe to affect the visibility of a driver, especially since i suspect this can happen while driving, or leave somebody stranded at work when they go to leave and have no headlights. *tr

The electrical system on the above mentioned vehicle.is acting up. fault display on the dash indicates engine is running hot. and that the ac unit is off. waited for car to cool off sufficiently to allow visual inspection of cooling fluid levels. they checked ok. also checked to make sure fans operate, they both come on. took vehicle to place of purchase for second opinion. mechanic checked vehicle out. could not find any mechanical issues with car. could not explain why the dash is showing that fault code. also replaced thermostat thinking it might be bad. problem still persists, now temp. gauge will that engine is running hot when accelerated. and return to normal when engine is idling. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet impala. the contact stated the vehicle would not start and the failure occurred intermittently after driving the vehicle. the contact stated the vehicle would often take up to one or two hours before it would start. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and an independent mechanic where the technicians were unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

My air bag light continues to come on for no reason, my tire sensor light comes on as well even when there's nothing wrong with my tires, my service engine light is on i got it serviced and its still on , my seat belts do not work properly , my heat and air doesn't work properly as well there's so much wrong with my car and i have spent so much money fixing it and the same problems still occur. *tr

While driving on the interstate, a message was displayed saying "service traction control" and "reduced engine power". i was using cruise control and it shut off after the messages were displayed and i was unable to stay at the speed limit or accelerate quickly if needed. in another incident, i was driving and the two messages displayed and a few minutes later the engine shut off completely. the power steering was not working and the engine was not responding. the only way to get the car running again was to shut it off and wait several minutes until it would start again. *kb
