Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet hhr. while driving approximately 35 mph, the service air bag indicator illuminated. also, the windows did not roll down and the speakers did not work. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was called, but did not call back. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000.

While driving my 2010 chevy hhr, i had just exited the highway and was entering the speedway fuel station, my steering just seemed to lockup on me and a dash alert flashed "service esc" then i suddenly lost all power! in order to avoid any major tragedy like colliding with a gas pump or another vehicle, i was able to run it into the curb i felt like my arms were nearly ripped from the sockets. after having it towed to my home and the following day towed to a mechanic. discovered that the experience was not exclusively mine, apparently some 444 others had as well. i checked for recall notices was told that the recalls were closed and repairs were done. i would like to know by whom, when and where exactly! it obviously was not done permanently nor satisfactorily as i'm very sore now, but could have been killed!

Service air bags comes on sometimes saying i need to get it serviced only comes on when car has just been started . sometimes gos out sometimes don't then sends service code on main display. also radio shorts out cause driver to be distracted trying to figure out what happen changing from cd to fm to auxiliary on its own.

On april 25,2018, while driving on the freeway rt passenger back door opened, no indicator light came on dash board to show rt back door ajared... on april 19,2018 while driving on city street rt front passenger door opened, no indicator light appeared on dash. both rt front and back passenger doors opened with in five days apart while driving.i was informed by dealership that the vehicle was old. cause: faulty latch spring loader a15 body & electrical, 10470c lock, replaced rt front passenger door latch assembly. i purchased it in 2011and the present mileage is 17,000mi. i feel if the hatch door opens while on the freeway and my wheel chair rolls out a fatal accident would occur. i feel the material used in the latch spring loader and door latch assembly is unsafe. parts should be recalled and replaced by the manufacturer, as well as notifying owner.thank u for your help.

1) the turn signals have failed to cancel after a turn on an intermittent basis since the car was new. 2) recently, the turn signal will not hold in the on position on a left turn and has to be manually held down to actuate the signal for the entire turn. 3) at the same time, the right signal will no longer automatically cancel and has to be manually turned off after a turn. these are issues because you either have the turn signal not on during a cross traffic turn when you thought it was engaged, or you have it on when you thought it had automatically shut off.

I am experiencing intermittent problems with the gauges and power steering as well as warning lights coming on and loss of communications to the d.l.c. connector. it may happen at any time anywhere.

Service air bag light on, also passenger air bag and seat belt alarms intermittently, radio display screen intermittently blank and scrambled, but audio works most occurrences stationary and while driving on streets or highways. appt. w/dealer for airbag service tomorrow

Front headlights, low beam and high beam, not working because bulb wire connector was melted.

Takata recall one or more of power windows don't work, most of the time. the headlights. parking lights & tai light don't work alot of the time. comes on then goes off. most of the time, the passenger side. people will tell me they are not working or if i pull up to a store i can see one of the lights are out, then sometimes they come back on. seems there is a short somewhere! this is moving or stationary both & anywhere i drive.

This vehicles safety chimes can shut off causing owner to be locked out of the vehicle with keys still in ignition. this occurs when parked and turned off or when parked and engine running. small occupants as infants children and pets could be trapped in a freezing or hot car. this vehicle has no interior hatchback door opener and can essentially pin occupants in a accident into the vehicle if forward doors are damaged during accident. the only escape comes from removing plastic housing and using a screwdriver to a hidden latch inside the door housing.

*this an update on file number-# 10672324-2010 chevrolet hhr-shifter problem on my last filing i stated that we had another recall on our 2010 chevrolet hhr. previous recalls were the ignition switch and the power steering system. but i found out that the key getting stuck when the car is in park, is not a official "recall ,but it should be! we received a letter warning us of the problem and if it occurred, gm would fix it for free. well, as i reported , it did happened. my husband parked the car, and we were preparing to go to his doctor"s' appt. & to an evening service & the key got stuck. no power, no nothing, we tried everything. and that thing that the manual said would help us release the key, was not there. so the car, sat there draining the battery. dr. appt's were missed. and because we both had appt's coming up, we had to rent a car. but to sum it all up. when the toll driver came, he was able to jump the car, and the key came out. after taking the car to the dealer, they could not duplicate the problem. they said that the battery was gone. but it was fine before the key got stuck. they refused to change the shifter. we got a new battery, and are praying that we won't get stranded if it happens again. and we are going to continue to fight for ourselves and for others! no reimbursement for the battery or the rental. we have made our complaints to the management at the dealer & to gm. and one more thing, our first sign of trouble before parking the car, was that the air bag light would not go off. an issue also after the new ignition switch was put in. this is a recall item. but once again, gm cares more about saving a dime. not lives. not a safety issue? i can think of few scenario's that say that they are wrong!-thank you, and "be blessed" ...

This a recalled 2010 chevrolet hhr. we had the ignition switch recalled, power steering system recalled, and right after the ignition switch was installed, the keys stop working and we had to get towed. now, the airbag light came on. and when we went to re-start the car, nothing. the power went totally out, and the key is still stuck in the ignition switch. about a few weeks ago, we got another recall notice from gm that the transmission shifter may not properly transmit an electrical signal properly that will cause the key to stay in a lock position. we are now stranded. and we have to once again get the car towed to the dealer and pay for a rental. and there are still so many recalled cars at the dealer that they are so behind. all of this is going on while gm is showing off their new cars at the detroit auto show. cars that will probably soon be on another recall list. enough is enough!! all chevy hhr owners who have had more the one recall on it, should be allowed to turn the car in without penalty or charge. all car notes should be cancelled!-thank you. and "be blessed"-[xxx] in c/o [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet hhr. while at a stop sign, the vehicle shook violently and stalled. the lights on the instrument panel illuminated. the failure recurred three times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the technician could not find a failure. the vehicle was not repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

I asked for a warranty repair on my airbag. the dealer got the part and sent it back on 7-13-12. they never called, emailed or wrote me a letter. i was never contacted. . recently. gm recalled my keys, i asked about my airbags. for the first time, on 9-12-14, [xxx] was the only service employee who told me the part is not at the dealer and it was sent back 2 years ago and if i wanted it i would have to pay almost 400.00 for it. i had detrimentally relied on the representations of at least 13 different contacts with service people, over this period of time, with this service department to honor the repair. [xxx] copied the service work order sheet and gave me a copy of it. there was no mention or notation of a phone call ever been made, on it. [xxx] and [xxx] , service managers at james martin chevrolet 6250 woodward ave. detroit, michigan 48202, refuse to honor the airbag repair although they are repairing other model airbags daily on a open safety recall from the nstb. general motors representative [xxx] at 1-866-790-5600 extension [xxx] refuses to honor the repair although he has open recalls on other models for the same issue. since general motors has a history of exploding airbags causing crashes and several open recalls on several models, i am certain that this one (2010 hhr) should be added to the list for safety concerns. also, the running lights have a safety issue too, on almost all models the daytime running lamps and regular lights have the right headlight out. this is not a coincidence, it is a known design defect and all gm products from 2010 forward and should be recalled as the lights cause a safety hazard. in summation, i want the 2010 hhr recalled for their right headlights and their airbags. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

No accident has occurred; i would like to know why it takes so long to remedy the recall(s) on my vehicle; the first notice was received dated april 2014 from gm regarding the ignition switch. the next recall letter was received on may 11, 2014 and i immediately called my local gm (cecil clarke chevrolet) in leesburg, florida to be put on the 'list' for the required parts/replacements. on june 17th, i called cecil clark again and was advised that although they were receiving 4 - 5 replacement kits a day, mine had not come in yet. now i have a safety recall for june reference the eps and that parts are not currently available. i have done what i need to do, i drive only when i have to now, and although i follow the safety rules reference removing all items from the ignition key, i do not feel safe while driving anymore. please can you find out why it takes so long to get parts for a very safety related issue. i thank you in advance. *js

i was backing up out of a parking stall the power steering suddenly stopped working , that is on recall along with the ignition switch we called may 20 2014 no parts for the ignition switch still no parts for that now another recall this time electrical power steering ..... sunday july6 2014 at 11:30 am power steering suddenly went out call gm road side assistance got a tow to h&h chevy omaha ne . then first thing monday morning went in and got a loaner car. the service guy stated that gm doesn't no how to fix the power steering problem nor do they have anyone to fix it and no part to fix it with so it could be a month or longer we have to drive a chevy cruze which for someone with a very bad back and arthritis in knees and back bad car not comfortable. i think gm needs to just scrap all these cars and buy them back from the ppl and pay off there loans. i am looking into buying a different brand of car. one the corporation will communicate better then gm is now the company of we wont say a word til you get hurt. dealerships telling owners to just drive your cars but becareful til they do get the part in. *tr

My vehicle is on gms recall list because of an ignition problem. i was driving down a small hill on friday may 2, 2014, when my car shut off. i had nothing on my ignition key ring when this happened and had just my key in the ignition when this happened. i called gm and let them know what had happened they offered to give me a rental car that they will pay for until my car is fixed . my concern is that these cars should not be on the road because they are a safety hazard to not only the person driving these cars but also to the people on the road with them, i know gm is doing all that it can to fix the problem and wonder why they are being allowed to be driven on the roads when they are unsafe. i do not feel comfortable driving my car because of the risk it poses not only to me but to others on the road and will be getting a rental . oh and by the way when my car shut off, it was all i could do to steer it around the corner because off course my power steering was gone making it difficult to steer. *tr

Greetings nhtsa, i am writing to document some things about our 2010 chevrolet hhr. yes, it was part of the recall, but i need for you to be inform of some things, that i pray can help someone else: 1. power issues: the power would act so crazy that we never knew when it was going to shut off. exp. this past winter, the blower motor would blow cold air, while it was freezing outside! or it would not work at all, then, the blower heater would come on, just by turning the ignition on. . and it would blow hot air. and it would not turn off, unless the key was out of the ignition. the dash would get very hot, showing a potential for a fire. apparently, each time a fuse had blown out. we would replace it and in three weeks it would go out again. something electrical must of been going on. there was also, power steering concerns. 2. we took it in to serra chevrolet in southfield, michigan to have the ignition switch replace. we were given a rental, and it took over three weeks for the part to arrive. we were hoping that the ignition switch was causing the problem and that it would go away, once replaced. 3. on june 4th, 2014-the parts came in.. 4. on thursday, june 5th, 2014, the new ignition switch was replaced. the next day, june 6th, 2014, the blower motor went crazy again, and the airbag warning light came on. ( with all of the issues with the car, the airbag light never came on until the new ignition switch was installed. 5. afraid of an airbag disaster today, june 9th, 2014, my husband took the car back to serra chevrolet in southfield, michigan. they are so backed up, with cars. they cannot even look at it until tomorrow. my husband was dropped off, no rental no loaner! and now we are without a car, thank you. and "be blessed" [xxx]-consumers-2010 chevrolet hhr owner information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6), *tr

Power steering unit went out when driving without warning. pulled hhr over to the curb to get the car off the road and damaged tire on curb. car very hard to steer and could not control when pulling vehicle off road. this is a serious safety hazard especially for my wife who does not have the upper arm strength to control the vehicle. same power steering unit in the chevy cruze and pontiac g6 has been recalled. do not understand why the hhr has not been included in the recall. same problem reported on the internet by many other owners. *tr

The srs light was red and stood lit for one month and then it went away, i have 3 children under 17 years of age and this problem just worries me and has me worried about the safety of my family while in this car. we had the ignition replace by the dealer about a year ago, because my wife could not turn off the car. no other problems reported by my wife. we love our hhr. great family car. we might need to go bigger since our growing family. hope this problem of srs gets fixed or does not become a future problem. *tr

I was driving the car got up to 25 mph and the steering went out, the car was hard to steer i turnaround for home. i turn the car off took the key out of the ignition put it back in started the car up and it work for one minute and went out again. *tr

10/1/13 as i left work, heading home, the car drove fine for approx. the first five minutes. out of nowhere, the steering became tight, as if it locked up. i could not turn the wheel left or right, the car almost instantly produced more heat, i felt the heat around my feet and it came through the vents. i looked at the dic panel and power steering was flashing. there was a smell as if the car was burning. with force, i was able to maneuver the car to a parking lot to sit. after reading through the user manual, i followed the suggestions from the manual, turned the wheel left and right hoping it would loosen and letting the car sit idle. after about two hours of sitting, my brother drove the car home with no problem. 10/2/13 i took the car, early morning, to be inspected by a local repair company. after running diagnostics on the car, i was told that once diagnostics began immediately power steering control circuit was diagnosed as an issue, the only issue from the diagnostic report, that had malfunctioned. i was also informed that could be the reason why one minute power steering malfunctioned and hours later it worked fine. i was also told that normally something like this is recalled by the automaker. *tr
