Engine is burning oil at an alarming rate. every 1,000 miles there will be no oil on the dip stick. no warning light has came on stating my oil is low. i could have blown my engine multiple times if i didn't check my oil regularly. this is not safe. i bought this car from a dealership 5 months ago and have already had to get 3 oil changes bc of the excessive amount of oil loss plus have had to add oil in between.
Blown engine. large oil consumption
My engine light came on while driving my equinox 2013, car started stalling and running rough, the car starts up, however cut off at the traffic stop, i had my car diagnosed.odometer 166,388; which needed timing chain set, timing solenoid and cam shaft, and variable valve. cam sensor, in addition in between oil changes by the dealership, i also, have to add oil my car uses excessive amount, i thought i had a great suv, i even recommended and spoke highly of my equinox, please look into this issue and resolve these problems.
The engine oil consumption is 5 to 6 quarts of oil in 3000 miles. this often results in violent vehicle jerking, as well as stability and power reduction, resulting in the engine power to be reduced causing potential collisions in traffic. this can occur and has occurred both when stopping and while in motion.
I have a 2013 chevy equinox, 2.4l with a huge oil consumption problem. my engine light is on, and the vehicle stall intermittently if i'm sitting at a stop light, and i often have challenges starting it back up. i purchased this car about 6 months ago, and being a single father of two, i don't have the financial resources for repairs.
In motion driving to work entering onto two lane highway decelerated and not able to maintain speed limit. no warning lights came on car started sounding louder. pull off and shut the car off got out and saw oil running out from under the car. had to have car towed to repair shop.
The hood open sensor keeps going off and i . noticed when its beeping it interrupts the turn signal. i don't know if it affects the outside turn .or not. this alarm goes off even when car is shut off and drains the battery
Hvac buttons became inop. therefore, no defrost. very dangerous. no heat. no a/c. no rear defrost. backlight buttons yes are illuminated. i replaced two fuses, no change. i replaced the hvac blower motor resister, no change. no defrost is very dangerous on my 2013 chevy equinox lt 4 cyl 2.4l. the battery is 10 months old. i disconnected the entire battery for 15 minutes. no luck. yes the entire radio works fine. audio is good. however, the popup on the radio screen which reflects the fan speed motor changes is not showing up when i adjust the fan speed.
When driving to work today, i was in the middle of parking my car. the car cut off before i could completely park. it started right back up then cut back off. i took my chances and drove it to the nearest dealership. every time i came to a complete stop the car would cut off i.e red lights, stop signs, heavy traffic. which became extremely dangerous. i dropped my car off at the dealership and i noticed that there were several vechicals that were the same model / make as mines waiting to be serviced. also serveral of my relatives who has the same car as mine has told me that they are experiencing the same issue. the dealerships all across town are out of loaner cars and can't get to mine until next week. 3 people i know took their vehicle to be serviced and each were told they needed a tune up. after receiving the tune up the problem still remained. all of our check engine lights are on.
Because of fast oil consumption the check engine that came on and the vehicle continues to stall when idling.
The infotainment radio system failed. this controls not only the radio but the backup camera and the hands free calling. been googling and it appears to be a common problem that is not being resolved. i called gm and they put me with gm infotainment team and they acknowledged that there is a problem but it is not a recall item at this time. nothing is being done and the repairs are $1200.00
I bought this vehicle i'm march 2018. a few weeks after buying it the check engine light came on with the code p0014 for the camshaft position sensor. i took it back to the dealer who replaced the part and changed the oil and it was all fine, no more check engine light. august 2018 i get an oil change on it again, check engine light comes back on for same reason. why was this part not recalled like previous years? i will never again purchase a chevy.
Burning oil between oil changes
Excessive oil consumption. gm covered repairs for 2010-2012 models but not 2013 despite continued problems and complaints. went through gm process for oil consumption testing and verified this is an issue in this vehicle yet they refuse to offer any kind of assistance for repairs. problem began january of 2018, less than 3 months out of warranty and only 630000 miles. when taken to have serviced was told 3.5 quarts low in oil yet no low oil indicator light ever came on and cam sensors had to be replaced.
I know there has been a few racalls on my vehicle and need to know how i can fix the recall s without out of pocket expenses
Pcv system rear main seal froze and burst resulting loosing oil in the vehicle.....was told the intake manifold had to be pulled also to check if anything was blocking. vehicle was parked in work parking lot all day and drove home only to find that oil was leaking from car. i was told it had to be taken to a dealership learned that there is a bulletin from gm stating that when the seal burts, the intake manifold has to be pulled and checked for blockage...which the consumber has to pay for.....gm does not.....why??
I have taken my car to chevrolet multiple times because it cuts out when idling and sometimes driving. the dealership i purchased it from told me around 40000 miles that sometimes 'you just get a bad apple.' they replaced my motor under warranty about 20,000 miles ago with a brand new motor and now my car is doing the exact same thing. i contacted customer care at chevrolet and they told me to take it to the closest dealer to get a diagnostic test run at my expense because my warranty is out... mind you i have been dealing with the same issue since i bought my car... and when i called the dealership, they told me that they couldn't service my vehicle because i didn't have the warranty work done at that location. i can't even drive my car because we've almost been rear ended multiple times and i have very small children. i can't drive all the way back to the dealership that replaced it when i am the one paying for the diagnostic exam anyway....so i keep getting conflicting responses from chevy and their dealerships. i have gotten the run around since i bought my car brand new off the lot. i just almost have it paid off and can't afford for them to keep screwing me around, nor can i afford a new car. my car loses the engine but all battery functions work. it happens while idling, driving slowly and even on the highway! it's so dangerous and many people complain about the same issues with the same car if researched online.
There is a tsb 15285c which covers the 4 cylinder for oil consumption. nine is the v6 3.6. this goes through 1 quart every 350 miles. i've been to 2 dealers and was told mine is not covered. i cannot afford this repair. what can be done? i bought used from spitzer chevy in north canton ohio. i think that they knew of this and i asked if there were any problems and was told that there were none.
Oil consumption. car is burning more oil than is "recommended". went to get an oil change and there was no oil in my car. there is no leak.
Drivers door inside handle lamination separates causing cuts to occupants hands when trying to open door to exit vehicle.
At about 95,000 miles the 2013 chevy equinox's engine started stalling when slowing down to stop or while idling in drive/reverse. thinking it was an issue with the gas, the gas was ran out of the vehicle and new gas was put it; this did not correct the issue. car is able to idle without stalling if in park or neutral.
Vehicle shuts off while in drive , loosing all power to throttle , power steering and all other components of vehicle. this has begun happening over the last three days after having the vehicle for only three months. the vehicle currently has 39,000 miles on it . today while traveling 70 mph on the highway the car shut off causing me to have to fight the cars steering to safely bring it to a complete stop in the breakdown lane. i had to put the car into park remove the key from the ignition and then re insert key and re start the vehicle.
My engine cut off twice while driving in a high traffic area. this is extremely scary and certainly should not be happening to a car with less than 50k miles on it. i bought the truck to have piece of mind only to find out this is a common complaint with this model. it needs to be recalled.
The radio failed in oct 2015. no display or controls. reported it to the dealer and they ordered a new radio. it took 3 months. they installed the new radio in jan 2016. on 2/21/16, radio failed again. no controls and blank screen. am stations appeared but it stuck on an fm station. i only started the vehicle and hadn't moved yet. i didn't receive a work order for the repair, but did on the initial complaint.
I was driving down the street and the dash went completely out for a few minutes.
I have had my car to the dealer 4 times for the middle console that controls the hvac, radio, camera, ect. the radio was replaced once. now, i have a complaint with gm and they told the dealership, give the car back, there isn't anything we can do if you can't replicate it. this happens usually when i am starting the car, but happened while i was on the phone driving. the call came back when the system rebooted. these issues began around the 18k miles and i am at 31k miles now. it happens no less than twice before i take it into the shop. i had it in the shop another time because i pressed the gas peddle after a complete stop and didn't go anywhere. then all of a sudden, i was at 3000rpms. this issue began at the 31k miles and only occurred once. again, they couldn't replicate it, so there was nothing to fix. the car is still under original factory warranty.
I purchased this 2013 chevrolet equinox and was looking through the owners manual. i found that there is no way to check the transmission fluid level. talked to the service manager about the absents of a way to check the fluid and was told all new vehicles no longer have a dip stick to check transmission fluid levels. this to me is a safety hazard as if you rely on some service department to tell you that your fluid is low or needs to be replaced you could be paying money that may or may not be necessary. if your on a trip of any distance you could be stuck in the middle of nowhere with a transmission that was destroyed because of lack of fluid that could have been avoided had the fluids been checked prior to your trip. how about driving at highway speeds and the transmission comes apart for lack of fluid an you have an 18 wheeler behind you and the transmission locks up that 18 wheeler would roll right over the top of disabled vehicle. i believe a safety recall should be issued to all make and model vehicles with no fluid dipstick for fluid check of the transmission such as that of my 2013 chevrolet.
The vehicle operator inserted the switchblade style key into the ignition. operator went to turn the ignition over to start the engine. the key fob's metal casing for the key broke. this resulted in 3 pieces, the remote key fob body, the key & the metal cover of the key. the hinge or the swtichblade portion is still connected to the fob. chevrolet customer service could not give an answer as to what actions could have been taken to prevent this from happening again or answer if the ignition switch been bumped while the transmission was in drive. this vehicle is 1200 miles out of the "covered" warranty.
Have had trouble getting the vehicle in and out of park. this has happened many times.
2013 equinox lt was struck on passenger side by a 2012 hyundai sonata while doing under 10 mph. the speed limit was 35 mph for the sonata. the force of the impact caused the equinox to roll over onto its side and only the side airbags to deploy. equinox received damage to all areas of the vehicle except passenger side fender and front end.
