Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

General motors have been at no assistance to me since my purchase of my 2010 chevrolet equinox i purchased it february/march of 2016 and have had continuous issue with the vehicle, i contacted the place of purchase and general motors numerous times about the complaint of my vehicle. also with the attached proof of repairs i referred to the dealers who did the repairs and general motors of any current recalls. back in october 2019 my check engine light came on because my converter went out and my 100k warranty expired, gm was not in understanding and would not assist. then i did my own research and found there was a oil consumption law suite and a separate special extended warranty in the catalytic converter but only until 120k. my issue is general motors will not assist me due to me being over the 120k mileage even though i inquired about it time after time since the time i purchased the vehicle. i have kept up to date in my address even when i moved out of state. i'm just looking for assistance in why my vehicle is not covered under the law suite or covered with the special warranty with my catalytic converter. i never received any mail notification and all my repairs were done at a licensed certified general motor dealer and they are aware of this issue/recalls and i was not told of the issues. i would just like to get my vehicle fixed since i spent so much money on it as it is. i had to do my own research online to find this information which could of been avoided if i was contacted front the beginning. i was never notified of a recall but once back in 2016 for a windshield wiper recall

Car was dying when i tried to pull out onto the road, city street from a stop sign.was almost hit. my grandaughter is just learning to drive and i am scared to death to let her drive it . running after key taken out, running very ruff. check engine light kept going on & off as well as stabli trac warning.smelled like catalytic convertor burning took to dealer to have diagosed and they said high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. engine had high content of fuel scanned and had excessive amaount of rich codes and misfire codesthat there was fuel getting in my oil said there was a recall but not on my vin. saw other complaints same problem that were told vin wasn't right. cost me $500.00 to fix bought this car brand new and had to get a new engine at 62,000 and new pistons & cracked manifold replaced at 102,000. i had taken the car to dealer a few years ago for same issue and engine light had gone off and they said they could not find anything wrong. out of warranty now and finally diagnosed the problem.getting ready to buy 2 cars and i will never by another chevy or gm car again .going with the foreigns. i think these cars are all lemons.i have seen others that were also told wrong vin but same issue, needs investigated. i have already recieved invitation for class action suit on this darn car! really

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet equinox. while driving, the check engine and stability control warning indicators illuminated, and the engine would stall. the vehicle was taken to ferman chevrolet (9751 alamo dr, tampa, fl) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. the contact indicated that the high pressure fuel pump was previously replaced, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 27,000.

Gas in my oil caused by a faulty fuel pump. this is causing my vehicle to run poorly and continue to run after the key is removed. this effects the vehicle when running parked or running in all gear positions.

Takata recall: my cars engine is running extremely rough, it's idling very "bumpy" and seems to sputter, stalling out (while driving or stopped) and continuing to run a few seconds after i turn it off and the check engine keeps coming on and going off. when i took it in to see what was going on with it, the tech explained that my high pressure fuel pump is what is causing all the issues. i was talking to a friend about it and she sent me a link showing me that a recall was done on my make and model so i called my local chevy dealership and they show nothing for my vin. upon calling the actual chevy number listed on the site where we saw the recall they explained that even though my car is having the same issues for the part being recalled, my vin is not included and that i will have to pay out of pocket. this is extremely frustrating! after finding this website i started reading complaints and the same thing is happening to another person with the same vehicle. i understand that these cars are made in different locations and the parts in those locations may be made differently then the parts in others but if we are having the same issues, i would think that another investigation needs to be opened and another recall needs to be issued including all vin's for this make and model. if this has to be paid out of pocket a little help would be appreciated too. this is an expensive fix.

A year after i purchased my used equinox my water pump went out. while at the dealership they realize that my opinions have been worn and my timing chain needed to be replaced. less than 6 months after my engine light popped on.. this car has been unreliable almost the whole time i've owned it. last march i replace the timing chain again. after much research i realize that my timing chain keeps getting destroyed because the high pressure fuel pump is leaking gas into my crankcase. chevy has put out a recall for my make and model vehicle but my vin is not listed. i'm not sure why it wouldn't be listed especially since i am experiencing the same symptoms that is listed in the bulletin.

Exhaust leak between the manifold and catalytic converter with only 57,000 miles. dangerous odor and potential carbon monoxide exposure. there was no incident that could have caused this problem. mechanic states that problem has been common among gm suvs this past year.

Our 2010 chevy equinox was working fine. last week we came to a stop at a stop sign... heard a bang noise and it started to idle rough, and shut off at stop sign ( hard to even know...since radio still playing). also sounds like a thrashing machine.... check engine light came on and has since gone off and back on and back off. what is the best correction for this safety issue. continues to shut off at stop signs. ????

I purchased this car as used. when i first bought it there was a ticking sound that could barely be heard. the dealer said that was common. for vehicles sitting in the lot. i brought the car back once it got a little louder and they said most fuel pumps make that sound overtime but there was no issue. and that the manifold was causing the loud noise and gas smell. and needed to get repaired. that was during the warranty period .now an year later. a week ago my car started making the same sound again and been getting louder. my check engine was blinking a d i noticed the car wasn't driving as smoothly and was using up more gas.an engine power reduced light came on and my engine just cut off.i had to get it to towed to a shop and there is an issue with the fuel pump pressure. i see there have been a lot of issues with fuel pump on this vehicle and a tsb recall. this is a safety concern as it is causing the engine to cut off. this happens to me on a busy street. thank god i wasn't on the highway i get on to go to work

Fuel pressure regulator 1 exceeded control limits pressure too high. problem with malfunctioning fuel pump similar to 2.4l ecotec engines from gm. models from same year and engine however not all vins covered. engine misfires, stalls, smoking. occurs while running with highway driving.

I got a recall letter onhigh pressure fuel pump and you dont have it listed, why.?.i have had other recalls you dont list i trusted this site now i am not sure

Brought my suv in delership for recalls from 12/5/2016. it's been in for mutiplable recalls plus oil consumption recall now received my car back had it for 2 days now service department telling me my transmission wave plate needs to be replaced. service department had returned my car saying everything was fine to drive let me leave in it knowing they knew this would happen. very upset plus am out around $800 dollars thought these recalls were covered nope had to come out of my pocket. now they want $4374.69!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Constant transmission issues, rebuilt motor and still having issues doesn't change gears or will make constant putt putt noises like its going to quit, goes through quarts of oil constantly, no leaks found but adding large amounts weekly, heating/ac system doesn't turn on all the time i have to turn it off and on and it eventually works. stabilitrak keeps turning on with check engine light the cars power then gets turned down all the way or off, i have to turn the car off and turn it back on to get back to normal. very dangerous car stopping with traffic all around. nothing but headaches.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet equinox. when the vehicle was taken to have routine service preformed, the technician stated that there was a strong fuel odor in the oil and the high pressured fuel pump needed to be replaced. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 89,782. updated 01/11/2017*ct updated 7/13/18*jb

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet equinox. the contact observed an abnormal ticking noise coming from the hood without warning. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle was consuming a lot of oil. it was diagnosed that the high pressure fuel pump lifters failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 102,000.

From inception this vehicle has burned through oil and has consistent issues with running smooth. the poor fuel injection system has caused abnormal wear on engine and parts therefore it has caused me to pay out of pocket for breakdown of parts in a premature stage. now my catalytic converter is bad, all fuel injectors, coils and everything around that system!!! i am looking at over 3k in repairs again!!!

There is a current recall in place for the timing chain and fuel pump in this vehicle. both items were replaced at 30,00 mile and now 107,000 miles later the same problem is occurring and both of these items need to be replaced again and instead of gm recognizing the recall they say that they can only provide $300.00 towards the repair cost of the vehicle. gm says we have exceed the mileage for the repairs to be done at no cost and want to charge us $2200.00 for the repair of the vehicle. the recall number for this is (12313). the poc at jack evans dealership in front royal va is [xxx]. the only assistance the dealership worked out with gm towards the repair of the vehicle was $300.00. gm needs to recognize that not every single vehicle is going to be the same and not all vehicles are going to have problems at exactly the same mileage, if there was a problem with the parts in the vehicle and you replaced those parts when the vehicle only had 30,000 miles on it and the problem is occurring again 107,000 miles later then there is obviously still a problem. the recall was put in place for a reason and they need to do the right thing and honor that recall instead of trying to give us rebates and dealer incentives of up to $3000.00 to be used towards the purchase of a brand new vehicle, which is what they are trying to do at this point in time. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Started my car on a normal day and it sounded like a motor boat, and when i turned on the heat the entire car smelled like gas!!!!! *js

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet equinox. while the vehicle was being serviced at the dealer, the mechanic noticed that fuel was cross-contaminated with engine oil. the mixture caused the engine to run continuously and roughly. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 33,000.

Smells like something is burning & service engine stays light is on, engine has low power or is idling rough with a whining noise from high pressure fuel pump. model 2010 equinox, has a couple other recalls that also tie into the constant electrical problems. also i recently went to adjust the vent and the button disappeared into the dash. what's this. it's something new every week now. no know cause for the engine light, despite diag. tests. my fuel mileage is also shortened although the vehicle is on a strict maint. schedule. *tr

My car began chugging, losing power and eventually stalled as i came to a stop. this began when i slowed my vehicle on three separate occasions (once when i slowed to turn a corner- 2012, once when i slowed to stop at a light-3/2013 and the third time was when sitting idle with my foot on the brake-2/2013.) each time my gas tank was less than half full but at different levels at each occurrence. my check engine light came on after the incidents. after the car stalled, i turned it off and was able to start it back up without incident each time. the car rides rough and is now making a rattling/rubbing noise. i have had two code checks; one returned as an issue in bank one with 3 potential issues: oxygen sensor, fuel injection system or ignition misfire. the second code check was code po172, fuel too rich. after the first code check, we replaced the o2 sensor and the car stalled the next day so the codes were checked again after my check engine light came back on. other issues: *driver side lumbar support broke. chair rocks a little but is still usable (albeit probably not safe): december, 2012 *car jerks/shifts roughly when slowing down or shifting from second to third. also, when you turn off the cruise control, it slows down significantly and abruptly. (current issue and an issue since the day i bought the car in august, 2009. *climate control stuck on high (documented recall that i was not notified about.) *weather stripping on the inside of the passenger front door stuck to the door and pulled off when the door was opened (unknown month, 2010) *driver side bottom part of seat cushion came unattached from seat base when i pulled it to the side to get an item that dropped down near the console (unknown month 2010) *constant knocking in the engine (been an issue since shortly after i bought it). *tr

Purchased 4/2010 1 at a red light, car idled really rough, then all of the dash lights came on. i drove straight to the dealership. they checked it out and said i needed a new fuel pump. i had about 47,000 miles. 2. oil consumption - the first time this happened i was hearing a funny noise when i turned left coming from the engine. my boyfriend checked the oil the next morning to find no oil on the dipstick. we put in 2 qts then when the dealer ship opened i took it in. they told me they could not find any internal or external leaks so bring in weekly for oil consumption test (i was about 1500 miles since my oil change that was done at the same time the fuel pump was replaced) drove out of town to visit family (about 2000 miles after oil change) after driving 200 miles heard the noise again checked the oil.......2 qts low. added oil and took to local dealership. no problems found related to oil, but did find another alert that needed to be completed when i got home related to the water pump tensioner. gm customer service again , but only was told to wait until my next scheduled oil change and start consumption tests again. 3. i pod jack - worked fine for the first 2 years, but then would cause all center console lights to go out, could not operate radio or a/c. 4. stalling - i have only had this problem once but it was as i was turning left across 3 lanes of traffic! 5. jerky transmission - the first time this issue happened it jerked so hard i thought i hit something. took it to the dealership and was told, like others it was the transmission "learning" me. the transmission codes were updated and problem only occurs occasionally 6. drivers seat lumbar support airbladder - has popped and had to be replaced two times. *tr

Excessive engine noise,pinging,misfires-transmission shift hesitations upon acceleration-backfires/tiny explosions coming from exhaust-suspension noise.erroneous mpgs-defective air conditioning/intermittent/stale smelling air/not cold. *tr

When accelerating to pull onto highway, engine stalls with no response from accelerator pedal and sometimes engine completely shuts off and you have to restart the vehicle. this is an intermittent problem that happens often. my vehicle has been to the dealer several times for this issue but the dealership has yet to find the problem. i have also contacted chevrolet customer support about this problem and told them of my concerns of having an accident because of this issue. i have researched this problem on the internet and found owners of 2010-12 chevrolet equinoxs all over the united states are having the same problem. *tr
