Problems with 2010 Chevrolet Equinox ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

While driving vehicle doors are locking and unlocking themselves, radio and heat turns off and on, blinkers not working,headlights flash on and off by themselves, airbag, stability control and abs flash on and off on dash. rpm and speedometer are at zero while driving and accelerating, gas hand shows on low fuel when there's gas on the car. took to have vehicle scanned and alternator is reading at too high voltage and revived 15 error codes all relating to speed sensor, engine and transmission control model malfunction, power train control module and camshaft position circuit errors etc.

My car started itself when the key was in my pocket and i was at the rear of the car unloading. i do not have a keyless entry or starting feature on my car. i was parked at our community garden and my daughter and i were unloading garden tools, so we were touching the car and felt it when it fired up. it was an underwear changing moment.

Car will stop after pressing the break. wipers no longer work. now car won't start due to timing belt

Vehicle was stopped at intersection. vehicle would not move after using accelerator, and the engine continued to run at higher rpm. i was able to move after shutting off and restarting the vehicle. during the same drive i also had trouble shifting from 1st to 2nd gear with high rpm before a moderately hard shift while accelerating after a stop. amber check engine, brake, and abm lights all lit. vehicle is currently with mechanic for diagnosis and repair.

Original recall 09 v4 89000 was supposed to have fixed visibility issue. car was taken in at the time of the original recall. the vehicle is showing symptoms of the exact same issue as before where defroster is no longer working because of controls not functioning. radio is also out along with possible other unknown electrical issues. we've turn the car on and off several times hoping it was just a glitch, however it appears the problems of the first recall are back again. driving the vehicle pose a threat has we live in weather we're having to have control over the defrosting is needed. defroster and panel do not work because of lack of electrical control. my worry is that this is systemic, the the issue is reoccurring, every so years or so, that other issues will continually make this an issue in the future.

Instrument computer mailfuctionin. light and controls stop working and nothing on radio lights up. radio screen and ac/heat controls not function properly. checked there was a recall previously.

My ignition when i tuen my key back to turn off my car it tries to start back up again by itself it has happened about 7 or 8 times now. i have been asking around what that coold be and i get in response that it could be the electrical system or the ignition. and i still have 3 yrs to pay for this car

2010 chevy equinox ltz windshield failure! wednesday night, may 2, 2018, i was driving home from the four winds casino, south bend, in, it was pouring down rain...when i got into mishawaka, in, my windshield wipers suddenly stopped and lodged to the left of the drivers side! i got out of the car, pushed the wipers back down in there proper place and i could hear the motor running! i got back into the car and turned on the wipers several times, they would not budge...i took the equinox into basney honda on thursday, may 3, 2018 and they inspected the vehicle. they told me the windshield motor and transmission assembly needed to be replaced! i bought this suv in march from basney honda! i have only had the car a couple of months and problems already? this is very dangerous, plus, the cost of repair! total cost= $453.43. also, my research shows many recalls on this same issue by gm! many complaints by consumers! why does this keep happening, and why has this not been addressed? no wonder no one wants to buy a chevy! when i purchased my 2002 toyota camry solara used in 2010, it was years before i had any repairs! never a windshield issue like this...never! i thought i had made a good choice buying this chevy equinox suv, liking it a lot, but, now, i am looking to get another toyota, honda, nissan or mazda and trade this one in! i have called a certified chevy dealer to have an inspection and diagnostic done on thursday, may 10, 2018. after that, i will call the chevy recall number for further assistance! this is a very dangerous safety hazard! i could not see! i could have had an accident and ran off the road, or worse yet, been killed or killed someone else! i hope i can get reimbursed the cost of this repair!

I could not turn on my defrost on while i was driving i had to pull over and wait for it to kick back on so it could defrost enough for me to see where i was going to get home i have the videos

Car looses power while driving

Since i purchased this vehicle, i constantly get a "service airbag" message on my dashboard. i have notified the dealer as well as gm/chevorlet by phone and was told that unfortunately there is no recall for this. i took my car to the dealer in which i purchased and since they did not see the message they said there is nothing they can do. i fear (god forbid) being in an accident and the airbag does not deploy. i do travel with my children in which one of the 3 is a toddler. is there anything that can be done. - also which is very annoying my key gets stuck in the ignition. now i have 2 sets of keys one gets stuck more than the other, but there are times where i have to spend hours trying to remove it - i took it to the dealer but once again was told nothing is wrong with this. i have seen numerous videos and forums with the same complaint. needles to say i would never purchase a chevy again! too many issues for a car that i've only had a few years.

Car only has 89k miles and it's having issues when it's accelerating and switching gears. it also stalls often while in motion. also having an issue with my defroster controller. seems like this is a recall in the same year and model but my vin doesn't qualify

Intermittent loss of system heat. blower works but blows frigid air into cabin and onto windshield causing frosting and safety issue. controls do not work to correct issue. actuator doors either don't move or move randomly. no change in blower air. air temp feels like below zero. no warning of change from hot to cold air. vehicle can be stationary, in motion, highway speeds, side street speeds, turning, straight, it doesn't matter. in going to destination heat stopped and cold air blew. this has been a recurring issue for about 2 years. dealer says not coding or storing codes. main computer doesn't sense the problem. actuators recalibrated on friday, it reoccurred on saturday. there is a recall on the control system brain but dealer unwilling to do repairs. 2010 and 2011 were the worst years for issues in these vehicles. many complaints of the same issues. dealer says they can't fix it if it doesn't display codes according to my almost $4000 warranty service contract. i love my equinox but i need it fixed and working. brought it into dealer on friday, intake person actually felt the frigid air coming from blower. no amount of flipping switches, turning knobs or pushing buttons correct this issue. still they don't fix it because of no codes. i say main computer is malfunctioning because it doesn't sense the problem therefore it doesn't show codes. dealer admits there is an issue, just don't know what it is. on a personal note, i am a cancer survivor and have many medical issues, i also transport young children in my vehicle. this issue is a health hazard to myself and them.

The car shuts off by its self can't pick up speed i can be at a light and the car will jurk and try to pull of and can go no mrs. than 15mh.

The radio will not turn on when i start the vehicle. it is not until 10 minutes later that the radio will finally turn on and work properly. this also effects the turn signals and hazard lights. i feel that with the fact the turn signals do not work this is a safety hazard and a recall needs to be issued to fix this problem. this started in my driveway.

Audible tone volume for seat belt unbuckled, door ajar, key left in ignition, turn indicator, etc intermittently reduces to a level that may be barely be heard. next time it may or may not be restored restored to normal. problem is random, sometimes lasting for entire trip but is normal on next trip. i have seen this problem listed on various internet automobile problem sites but not on your site.

Car radio display does not turn on when starting car. it will automatically start playing sometimes 10 mins after driving or not at all. ac went out on car at 89000 miles. pretty lousy considering it is only 4 years old. also makes a loud noise and sounds like it is not shifting. sound never goes away. *tr

Car battery constant drains, car wont start upon hot/cold weather...bcm might be the cause-body control module computer, car cuts off while driving, has stalled, nocking sound when ac/heater is on ,burning smell.battery replaced and not the problem, alt also checked and is working good. have to constantly charge the battery to charge the computer to get the car to start. *tr

Defrost not working and instrument panel fades or completely goes out... i went to my local heritage chevrolet dealer in chester va. 23831.. i was told there was not a recall on my vehicle... but they would hook it up and do a test to determine the problem... at the cost of $170.00.. i told them my vehicle was on the recall for the visibility #09v489000 software instrument panel/ fmvss 103 & 101.. i told them forget it i should not have to pay for a recall and left.... *tr

Was driving vehicle when all of a sudden entire dash lit up and car stalled. messages included service stabilitrak, service abs, engine light, and service traction control. i lost power, power brakes, and power steering and coasted vehicle to a stop. it took a couple of tries but finally got the car to turn over, engine light remained on but drove to dealer. vehicle did not drive correctly when accelerated, it was slow and jerky. when i took the vehicle to the dealer they told me it would be covered under warranty, they plugged in their tech code reader and determined it was throttle body. i was given a concierge vehicle and informed it would take them the weekend to fix. when i picked the vehicle up they charged me saying that it would not be covered under the warranty and tried to make me pay for the rental and i have still not been reimbursed for the repairs that should have been covered under warranty or the rental car. the service agent at the dealership printed off where it clearly states that it should be covered. this is a dangerous problem and should be recalled. *tr

While driving the vehicle the wipers stopped functioning making it dangerous to drive. the center console display, radio and heater controls, went off and stopped functioning. this has happened several times and is a dangerous situation. i have had it looked at by the dealer and they tell me nothing is wrong. they also tell me there is no recall on any equinox for these issues even after i recommended them to look at your site. they told me to "stop looking at the internet for information because it is no good and that people do nothing but complain on the internet." i called the gm customer service center to explain that to them and they recommended me to file a complaint with nhtsa to make it known that my car is having the same issue as the recalled cars to possibly get it added to the recall. i am not only doing this because they recommended me to, but because my family is at a safety risk driving this vehicle and gm doesn't seem to care. they need to be held accountable for this issue since there are many people out there having the same issue that are in the same boat as i am without being covered by the recall. *tr

Car made noise and engine started to stop. pulled off to side of freeway, turned off key and car burst into flames. car is a total loss, due to the fire damage. *tr

Power steering locked up/stopped working when trying to back up. wouldn't work when put back in forward gear. happened intermittently and when taken to dealer, they couldn't replicate. next couple of months did this intermittently. recently, it did this regularly for a day when driving...very dangerous as it would happen often when executing a turn so car could lurch into an adjacent lane and potentially end up in an accident. warning light came on and this time took to dealer who told me they diagnosed a problem that would require replacement of at least part of the power steering assembly. this seems to be the exact same issue as what occurred with cobalts, hhr, etc. in the latest gm recall and i believe that the recall should be extended to this model year and make as well (if not for others too!). caused me enough concern to get the work done and am now working on my options to try and get gm to reimburse me based on this being an identical issue to these other makes and models. *tr

I put key into ignition and turned toward the start position and key went about halfway and stopped and all lights and dashboard went black,all electrical power went off. the car would not give me the key back. it was stuck in the ignition for about 1 1/2 hours until ers arrived. i tried pressing the brake and turning the steering wheel but it would still not give me the key. meanwhile, the dash board starting flashing on and off and i heard a constant clicking noise. i called emergency roadside assistance and they came and gave me a boost and car started right up with no problems. my battery and alternator are completely fine. *tr

Put key into key switch and turn toward start position and key went about halfway and stopped and all lights and dashboard went black,all electrical power went off. finially after moving steering wheel and moving key back and forth was able to pull key out of ignition switch.then when i put key back into ignition switch and tried to start car all i heard was a click,click so battery was dead,called ers and they came and gave me a boost and car started right up with no problems and service rep. checked battery and alternator and they were operating fine.called my dealership where i bought car and told them what happened but they never had a problem like that so they were no help.i called g.m. and talked to them but they never heard of that problem either so here i am with a car that has a problem which no one has heard of.. *js

I have owned this auto, which i purchased from a chev. dealer in atmore, al dec 2011; first sign of trouble was notice to replace electronic board, and battery which was run down & alleged due to fail., replaced under bank service warranty, plus $110. from that point onthe car would start unattended, and parked, locked with alarm on. attempts to correct meant fighting to get lock to stay open with key, and inserting same into ignition. car has also stopped for no reason at all,.complaint to gn/chevy two weeks ago, complaining of broken key as buttons had dropped off and second set did not work at all. milton chevrolet at milton, fl alleged corrected problem by making second (non-working) key work. a week later car parked, locked and alarm set, started in mid afternoon, no one near auto or keys and alarm ran off. we had to get key, enter auto and turn off ignition. the dealer wants the cost of two new keys to "fix" the problem. i think that the problem is a faulty ignition system entirely. if car stopped running on interstate for no reason, brakes, alarm, air bags would be inoperative. this has been reported to gm/chevrolet about 6 times, a late as yesterday when they demand cost of keys to repair problem.at times we have gone into stores and heard the alarm go off with no one around. this is not the intent of chevrolet to meet recall. please advise as to how this can be resolved. i have no doubt that the key system and the key and ignition and engine are allinked and are faulty with problems yet tobe revealed. current mileage, 60,700 total mileage. *tr

Been having off and on problems with driver side air bag coming on and off. it will appear for maybe a week then go off totally for months. i took it in to the dealer where i bought and they ran a test and said it would be over 400.00 to fix. not sure what to do as this is just once in awhile service airbag! has there been any other problems with this make and model.? not sure what to do. hate spending all this money if it is just a fluke. thank you for your help on this matter. *tr

Hello on a few different occasions my center console as stopped functioning making it impossible to turn on/off defroster, heat, etc. i have called chevrolet about this problem but they told me it is not included in recall 09v489000. can someone please explain why my vehicle does not qualify for this recall when i am experiencing the same problems? thank you *tr

Equinox starts powering down occasionally during acceleration through hard right turns and, once, during a soft bump against a curb. dashboard lights turn off, engine dies, etc. can be restarted from stop. we had been able to duplicate the problem, but haven't been able to do so at the dealership, so it remains unfixed. we are concerned about the safety of driving a vehicle that may power down during a hard right turn and heavy acceleration. we now intentionally accelerate slowly and cautiously through right turns. we worry that we will get in a situation where, for instance, we'll need to turn out of the way of a semi trailer and our car will power down, putting us in great danger. *tr

I have had many problems with this vehicle regarding electrical, audio, airbag lights coming on and now engine oil. the engine oil was just detected at 80,000 miles however i have complained that my car does not run right since the beginning. they claim that the engine is burning off the oil however i am very good at getting my oil changes around 3000 miles and where is the oil going? its not in my garage or on the engine? i have had my car completely go blank on the dash no indicator lights etc. i have filled a complaint with chevy to no avail. i am very disappointed that now my engine needs to be replaced or maybe just he pistons? at 80,000 miles? this has been going on since i owned it from sept 2009! i think chevy needs to step up and make things right! disappointed. just for the record i bought this car in california. *js
