Takata recall stability traction control indicator lights. no warning for brake problem. the brakes locked up and wouldn't stop or slow the car before entering a curve on a major highway.

I purchased a 2007 chevy equinox from a private party back in january but due to a mix-up with the title and the previous owner i could not title the car and start driving it until march. i've noticed lately a strong smell of gas and a very loud clunking noise from the driver side front wheel. i took it to a local shop in my town and was told i had a gas leak at the top of the tank and that the sway bar linkage needed to be replaced . in doing my research i found that there was a recall for the fuel leak on the 2007 equinoxes and that many people have had problems with the sway bar linkage going bad and the service stable track light constantly staying on. i also have the problem stating all wheel drive off flashing on my screen. i found that many people put their vin numbers in the search window and found theirs not to be part of the recall but i'm wondering why if more than just the previous recalled vehicles are having the same issue wouldn't they want another recall issued for the ones that haven't been repaired. i just took it to a gm dealer today in my hometown and they want over $1,400 to fix just the fuel leakage problem i need to know what gm is going to do about it. i don't have 1400 extra dollars to fix this gas leak and i'm scared to drive the vehicle for fear of it starting on fire.

I was driving on the highway when the vehicle lost power and started shaking really badly...i would push on the gas to try to gain power but the vehicle did not respond. i exited to the nearest autozone and had it testes. .something to do with the gsr valve and throttle and fuel system. so i changed the parts that i could but now it's having the same reaction. now the air conditioning is not working properly as well. i've had to buy tires but they keep wearing because something is wrong with the stability track.the air bags need service. and now just two days ago something is wrong with the speedometer. the motor also makes a weird sound. ..over all i don't feel safe in my vehicle anymore. now the vehicle still shakes and i have to buy tires again.it shakes very badly. ai just did an oil change and it already needs more oil. *tr

My wife's equinox was traveling at around 45 mph when axle broke and caused her to crash hitting another vehicle causing minimal damage to it, then it wen down a 10 ft embankment and hit a concrete wall head on. she had to be cut out of vehicle and car was totaled. the axle broke in half. we believe that this contributed to the accident.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet equinox. while driving approximately 40 mph, the contact heard a loud noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. the vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the front passenger side hub bearings were defective. the vehicle was repaired. approximately two months later, she noticed that the abs indicator was illuminating on the instrument control panel. the vehicle was driven to the dealer and they stated that the box for the all-wheel drive was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired again. recently, while driving approximately 3-4 mph, the contact heard a popping noise while making a right turn. the vehicle also began to vibrate. when she applied pressure to the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would not gain speed and began vibrating uncontrollably. she pulled over to the side of the road and the vehicle was towed to the dealer. the contact was informed that there were no defects with the vehicle. the vehicle has not been repaired for the latest failure. the manufacturer was not notified. the vin was unknown. the current mileage was 39,006 and failure mileage was 30,000.

Purchased vehicle in sept 07 and started noticing a knocking noise from the front end of the vehicle at about 2000 miles. the noise would occur during slow reverse, slow forward, and turning at slow speeds at intermittent times. we have taken the vehicle to three different dealers and they have all stated that they could not hear the noise. i am currently at 21,000 miles and we still hear the noise and we can not find anyone willing to perform the proper check on the vehicle to locate the cause. *tr

Engine light turns on and says the stabilitrak needs servicing as well as the traction control and that they are off, also says that engine power is reduced. this has happened about 5 times in the past 2 months and each time that i have an appointment, the light goes off and the dealer says they cannot diagnose without a check engine light on. this concerns me. autozone hooked up there little gadget while it was on once and indicated that the throttle position sensor may be the culprit, said it came up three times. power steering column locks up when i turn on vehicle, this has happened a few times in the past 3 years, each time i take to dealer, they cannot duplicate the problem and therefore cannot fix it. i have had vehicle since july of 2007. my current mileage is 42,998 the first error with column started probably in october of 2007 and occurs every so often but by the time i get it to dealer, it cannot be duplicated. what i have to do is turn the car on and off until it "registers" and then the column works otherwise it is very stiff and hard to nearly impossible to turn.
