Just bought this vehicle, 1 day after owning it abs and no traction control light comes on and there's a rumble in the brake pedal. my husband is a mechanic, so he put new brakes and rotors on and cleaned wheel sensors. took it to sears and had new tires put on and wheel alignment and balance done. 2 days later i've got the same lights on and rumble in pedal. ran fine for those 2 days. i've read way to many complaints of the same problems and no solutions to be comfortable about purchasing this vehicle and now i'm stuck with it! when is chevy gonna wake up and take notice of this problem? they have recalls for reflector and console latches, but they don't find faulty brake systems important enough to address? why is it gonna take accidents or possibly deaths before someone does something about these faulty vehicles? i see post that say we need so many people to send in complaints or sign petitions to get something done...........really? why........can't chevy read forums and posts about the vehicles they are putting out there? or can't someone in charge of safety and wellbeing see how many hundreds of posts there are about this issue? my husband has always been a chevy man, i'm not sure i'm with him one this one! why would a company with such a great reputation chance throwing it down the crapper! come on chevy stand behind what you're selling and make it right! *tr

I took the vehicle to the shop to get it checked on 11-21-11. we took the vehicle thinking that a piston was bad, because that was the way it felt, like not getting the right pressure from the piston once the brakes were activated/pressed. once we got the call back from mechanic, he stated that we needed new rotors due to both being warped. i thought that that will take the problem away but once we got the truck back, immediately within days the problem came back. we took the vehicle back to the shop and they stated it was a tire the one causing the noise and rattle once the brakes were pressed. at the shop, they replaced the front brake pads as well as the disc brake rotors, they applied lug nut torque 100, inflation 35/35, cleaned and adjusted rear brakes. after all of this was done, i still get engine lights on the dash board. i took the truck to get it tested at autozone for free and got this code on their machine oem number to cross: p0171 definition: fuel trim bank one condition explanation: the power train control module uses the oxygen sensor to calculate the air/fuel ratio of the engine. the computer has recognized a rich or lean condition on one bank only. probable cause: a1. if bank one and two set together suspect fuel pressure or maf (mass air flow) sensor a2. oxygen sensor defective. a3. ignition misfire-repair. a4. fuel injector problem. i have not used my truck for the past 2 and a half months for fear of having an accident if breaks fail to do their job or lock up while braking. it is stressful enough if computers/mechanics nor dealers make up their mind about what the codes are or mean. i also notice the the button for the all wheel drive does not work anymore and that is being in that stage since the problem started. if anyone has a solution to this issue, please let me know. thank you. *tr

Abs brakes activating at low speed. brakes lock up momentarily at low speed, just prior to coming to a stop while decelerating. vehicle has only 39000 miles on it. *tr

Own a 2006 chevy equinox and when braking or attempting to stop the vehicle i have to press on the brakes very hard. i can feel the brakes pumping (abs system) and making a rattling noise when trying to stop and the aba and track lights stays on. *tr

Driving 2006 equinox and the brakes were not working properly. the brakes did not press down and seem to be stuck. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet equinox. the antilock brakes failed indicating that the sensor was corroded and began to make a grinding sound when coming to a stop. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who replaced the abs and hub sensor. the manufacturer was notified and informed her that there was no related recall and that the vehicle could be repaired under the warranty after she paid the deductible. the failure and current mileages were 55,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet equinox. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle would start to slow down. no warning lights illuminated on the instrumental panel. the vehicle was inspected by an independent mechanic who informed the contact to disconnect the electronic braking control module. the vehicle was repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 60,000. the vin was unavailable.

On my 2006 chevrolet equinox, the abs and traction control (tc) warning lights on the dash are on, and the brakes intermittently and frequently will not work, especially at slow speeds. they pulse and the car does not slow, until the brakes pedal is pushed to the floor. the garage has replaced the front wheel bearings twice, the abs control module, the struts, and also rotated the tires, and the problem persists. the diagnostic tester indicates front left wheel bearing. i see on the internet that this s a widespread and persistent problem on the chevy equinox. we still haven't figured out how to fix it permanently. *tr

As the vehicle is approaching a stop sign or stop light while braking the vehicle will get down to about 5mph or less and then the anti lock brakes will engage. this first started happening in parking lots at low rates of speed and i first thought it was possibly ice on the ground but as it is warming up and the roads are clear the problem is more persistent. the vehicle should be stopping and there is no reason for the anti lock brakes system to be coming on. the vehicle should be finishing coming to a complete stop not starting to pump the brakes. *tr

I own a 2006 chevy equinox that we had bought new, now the abs and tc lights come out and the brakes will grind and unless you pump the brakes it won't stop. i took the brakes to be changed twice in a year and no results so far. wife drives the vehicle and now recently has had more problems stopping and being close to crashing. i'm now looking to get rid off this vehicle asap. took it to dealers they had no idea what it was but did charge around 400.00 dollars each time for new brakes. *tr

Front brake rotors bad at 50,000. problem started at 25000 miles on the vehicle. took to authorized gm dealer and they stated that the warranty does not cover rotors even though this seems to be a common issue on this vehicle. when the brakes are pressed the brakes pulsate and the vehicle pulls to the right. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet equinox. she heard a loud noise when she pressed on the brake pedal and the pedal extended to the floor. to release the pedal she had to press it rapidly several times. she has experienced brake failure for several months. the dealer diagnosed the brake failure on three occasions. the dealer replaced the brake pads and some related switches; however, she does not remember the name of the switches that were replaced. report number 71764846662 was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that someone would contact her. the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 39,700.

On 2/29/2009 abs system started to activate around 10-15 mph with or without brake pedal being depressed. this occurs all the time while moving forward or reverse. vehicle is 2006 chevy equinox with 27,500 miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet equinox. while driving at 55 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and felt an extreme pulsation. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the front rotors were resurfaced. the failure occurred again after 20,000 miles and the front rotors were once again resurfaced. the failure occurred a third time and the vehicle was taken back to the dealership; the dealer wanted to resurface the front rotors again. the contact refused as the resurfaced rotors only functioned properly for about 20,000 miles before they failed again. he called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 20,000. the current mileage is approximately 66,000. updated 7/26/10 *cn updated 07/29/10*jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet equinox. while driving approximately 30 mph on normal road conditions, the brake pedal pulsated when it was depressed. the front end of the vehicle began to shimmy. the vehicle unexpectedly pulled to the right without assistance. there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they resurfaced the rotors. on six separate occasions, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for identical failures, but there were no resolutions. the repair consisted of resurfacing and replacing the rotors. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 18,287 and current mileage was 52,000.

(1) on or about 10/27/06, alarm system deactivated itself, interior and exterior lights turned on, doors remained locked. (2) on 11/01/06, alarm system activated itself, doors locked themselves. (3) on 11/27/06, vehicle shuttered and went into 'limp' mode which may have caused damage to the transmission. onstar and dealer retrieved the following error codes: (i) p1626 - theft deterrent fuel enable signal lost, (ii) c0276 - traction control not allowed (tcm / abs), (iii) u0100 - lost communications with transmission control module (tcm), (iv) u2105 - lost communication with engine control module (ecm). between 11/27/06 and 12/21/06, dealer supposedly replaced bcm three times and 3rd new bcm fixed problem. each new bcm would go to zero (0) and the mileage could not be programmed. during that time the theft deterrent system was deactivated which was unknown to me. current mileage is incorrect. i believe that the original faulty bcm may have been re-installed and the codes cleared when they were unable to fix the problem. i do not believe that the other none-bcm error codes have been addressed but the dealer forced me to take my vehicle home on 12/21/06. *nm

Brakes and rotors were bad at only 1,200 miles from factory. dealer wanted to just machine them down to fit but i made them replace them. had both kids in car and car would not stop because of faulty brakes and rotors from factory. *jb

17 trips to the dealership for repeated problems with brakes, rotors, bearings, transmission, clicking/other sound in engine compartment not fixed as of yet by gm, broken door hinge, broken license plate bolt receivers, starter, seat belt clip, air conditioner, remotes, noises in front end, engine miss, clunking when wheels spun on wet pavement. *tr
