On tuesday february 4, 2020 1:09pm my 2012 equinox vehicle caught fire 10 minutes after reaching my destination in a private driveway. the car was shut off, and locked with the key before entering the residence. smoke was seen coming from under the hood followed immediately with flames. my concerns: 1) i had my pastor with me and this could have occurred while traveling; 2) my next destination was parking in my garage and i would have had a house fire. god was watching over us.
Engine is burning oil at an alarming rate. every 1,000 miles there will be no oil on the dip stick. no warning light has came on stating my oil is low. i could have blown my engine multiple times if i didn't check my oil regularly. this is not safe. i bought this car from a dealership 5 months ago and have already had to get 3 oil changes bc of the excessive amount of oil loss plus have had to add oil in between.
I bought my used 2010 chevy equinox from the dealer, and 2 weeks later the service stabilitrak light came on. took it to the dealer, they did an alignment and the same day the light came back on with traction control light. the next day i went to the grocery store, and when i tried to start it to leave it wouldn't start. after 2 tries, it finally started but then the reduced engine power light came on and wouldn't go above 25 mph. eventually the vehicle powered down and i had to pull over for a tow truck to come. the chevy dealer said it was the main timing chain (not covered) and something else in the engine but i would have to pay for labor to disassemble it. my car has been out of service and sitting at the dealer for now 10 days. luckily i wasn't on the highway when this happened, and decided to go to the store before heading to work. carfax reports indicate the timing chain and fuel pump was replaced at 40,000 miles already. i see a lot of people with this problem in much scarier situations. i believe this should be a ...
In -13 degree farenheit, the vehicle locked me out. key fob left inside vehicle for 45 min, engine off, parked in a parking lot. remote start from inside building did not work due to fob in car. once i arrived back a the vehicle i found the doors locked, door handle unlock button unresponsive with multiple attempts. vehicle failed to unlock while i stood outside in -13 degree weather, completely unsafe, for 5 min. i tried all doors and tried unlocking from passenger side. there was no unlocking sound when pressing the door buttons. i tried the chevy app to unlock standing right next to the vehicle, it did not unlock immediately. after a minute or longer delay the locking mechanism started to engage or disengage randomly without me pressing buttons on the door or app. each time i tried to open the door without success. on the last click i was able to suddenly open the door. 2530 odometer reading.
While driving my vehicle from work to home, the controls on my steering wheel for my stereo stopped working. the volume started going up and down and the channels started changing. i turned my radio off and back on and it immediately continued. i called onstar and asked them if they could determine if anyone was remotely controlling my radio and she told me that they had no way to determine that and i would have to contact my dealer. i disconnected my phone from my car, turned off the wifi and bluetooth settings on my phone and the vehicle and continued driving home. the volume changed a few more times and when i got home i shut my car off. i had to drive it again about 15 minutes later but nothing happened that time. i drove about 20 miles while dealing with the radio going crazy the whole time.
I was driving one day and these lights popped on out of no where the exhaust resginator cracking the car constantly has wheel bearing issue and the engine is burning oil it's not doing what it's supposed to do with it.i was driving on the l-90 thruway at 65 mph. i. am also having head light blowing i have changed the headlights 4 times this year
At red light,my car cut out. wouldn't turn over. had it towed and my mechanic said it was timing chains, which affected engine. checked 8 of 16 valves that were bent, along w/8 rocker arms cracked and torn off. $4000 to fix this issue, money i do not have. mechanic said gm knows about these issues and refuses to do a recall on this issue that has been going on for ten plus years.
The driver side door window shattered. i had just entered the highway and the window shattered. i didn't find an object in the car that could have caused it.
