Purchased vehicle used 8/2017. 5/2018 car smoking and overheating while driving. water pump replaced. still having issues with car overheating while driving, i was replacing coolant about once a month. twice the thermostat housing was replaced, 8/2018 and 11/2018. car had issues again overheating while driving in 4/2019. an intercooler pipe, pvc pipe, water pipe, and water hose were replaced. my check engine light came on again in 9/2019, many issues were found but i only had enough money to repair the catalytic converters. at this point i was replacing coolant every two weeks to avoid the engine overheating and at times it was a visible puddle coming from under the car. 11/20/2019 i returned to get a sensor and another thermostat housing replaced. 11/27/2019 i had the car towed to the shop after my vehicle began smoking while driving. i pulled over and coolant was quickly dripping out from under the car. the radiator was cracked and needed to be replaced. when the car was returned to me i noticed that the engine was noisy and there was a screechy sound upon acceleration. i had trouble picking up speed. i got to the gas station about a mile away and turned off the car to get gas. when i turn the vehicle back on the engine began to shake, rev up and down on its own, and then cut off. i tried a few times to start the car up and it happened every time. i immediately called the repair shop and had the car towed back the same night. they were able to look at it on 11/29/2019 and reported that they saw no issues. in disbelief, i picked up the car, and i drove around for almost a week. i ended up coming back to ride along while a technician test drove the car. he saw and heard the same issues that i clearly had with the vehicle. we returned back to the shop and he did a diagnostic test that showed there was an issue with the turbocharger.
Car had been repaired for a cracked radiator. diagnostic test showed that turbocharger is malfunctioning. upon starting the vehicle there was issues with engine the engine stalling. upon driving the acceleration of the vehicle is abnormal, loud engine noises upon acceleration and and car does not pick up speed at a fast enough rate to safely merge into traffic and navigate at a safe speed.
On october 25, 2019 my turbo failed leading debris to clog my catalytic converter leading it to fail as well. i bought my car new on october 10, 2015. since buying it, my water pump failed twice, camshaft cover replaced twice, thermostat replaced, oil tube and pan replaced twice, coolant tube replaced once. every time i brought it in to the dealership, i reported the car's problem of idling rough while in drive at a stop light or in park in my driveway and every time, the dealership reported they couldn't find anything. when i was told my turbo had failed, they said that's why my car was idling rough. every time one of these problems occurred, i was on the highway. i am lucky i wasn't hit or killed in any of these instances.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. the contact stated that the vehicle sputtered and was difficult to crank. also, when the accelerator pedal was depressed, the vehicle failed to respond and did not move. furthermore, the check engine warning indicator was illuminated. the contact called turan foley chevrolet buick (1123-b us 49, gulfport, ms 39503, (228) 206-0289), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not contacted. the failure mileage was 69,000. the vin was invalid.
Purchased new. repeated failures of coolant reservoir, replace turbocharger 2x, replaced water pump, tank replacement, intake manifold, valve cover and pcv pipe, and now another failure, head gasket failure.
I had stopped at the store. when i came out and started my car. it instantly made a loud whistling noise. i opened the hood nothing obvious. when left i pulled out on the main highway and it stalled. problem was the pcv valve in the intake manifold causing several other major issues after the failure
While driving, overheat alarm activated. arrow on hot. message said turn off a/c idle engine. i turned off a/c and placed into neutral. hot arrow went down. i pulled over. turned car off for 15 seconds. restarted. drove home with a/c off for 5 miles with no problems. at home. engine not hot. fluid level. ok. i looked online and found 119 complaints for same issue for same model year and dozens for other years. why no recall?
The front crank shaft seal is bad. it makes the engine make a very loud chirping noise when it warms up. if you pull the oil dipstick out it stops. i've had to keep my dipstick out so that it doesn't chirp. it's causing other issues with car. like stability control, fuel mileage and having to change oil more often. i've been trying to get it fixed but haven't been able to. i'm afraid that it is damaging the engine more than necessary. from what i've learned chevy is aware that this is an issue with the cruze. but no recall has been issued to fix this. service bulletin p11297b, 2-2015
Vehicle emits a hazardous fume from the coolant reservoir and enters the cabin when heater is used. this is usually when the heater is on parked or driving. usually after the car has heated up to normal standard.
Chevrolet and pontiac cannot do a diagnostic unless we pay the cost on what ever vehicle being recalled. they told us to schedule a diagnostic test and pay for it and any necessary repairs also. they also said the vehicles warranties has expired. so the defects are the customers fault for purchasing their products. they have us pending for and unknown reason. when they first called they did mention a $500.00 voucher or a new car, but that came to pass also. someone name .... regional supervisor told us that, and it was all lies. we still pending....this is a follow up claim # 8-4866033982.
Cooling system continues to leak after being replaced for the third time now. the car does not retain coolant or water to keep the engine from overheating. the car will overheat if it doesn't have coolant or water. i have to fill the reservoir each time before driving and when driving i am limited to about 8 hours without the air condition on.
Water pump failure. the recall on the cruze is for the years prior and still an issue for the 2015 model.
Apprx. 29000 miles. prob. 1: heater stopped workiing, prob. 2: vent blower motor making loud tinking noise. prob 3: feel pulsating intermittently while driving, got really bad and service stabilitrak display appeared. got to destination, car parked couple hours. upon starting car and putting in drive with light acceleration it wouldn't move, accelerate more would jump forward then lock up. next day had car towed to dealer. picked car up 7 days later, it drives but now makes chirping noise when shifting with break completely depressed, break line chirping as well. will bring back to dealer. all repairs covered by warranty. 1 month warranty left.
Water pump failed while driving
Car is releasing gasoline's fumes . very strong and is giving m a headache which also makes it difficult to breath while driving
While driving all of sudden traffic began to slow eventually all vehicles stop this car did not stop until it had to be also most floored; then as we start to proceed the vehicle did not want to move it was in drive all the way; it just started to vibrate an not actually moving with acceleration; then with increase acceleration it got out of the vibration and began to move forward; then we smelt something as burning; all this happen while we were driving on a busy three lane one direction traffic street; we call it stop and go; there are traffic lights, and you must go when its time to go on "green". if not this can cause and accident.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while attempting to accelerate the vehicle, it began to sputter and hesitate. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 27,250.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while driving 70 mph, the brakes malfunctioned. the contact stated that the emergency brake indicator illuminated without warning. in addition, the contact stated that the front passenger wheel seized. the dealer diagnosed that the vehicle engaged in abs diagnostic mode, which caused a transmission failure. the master cylinder was replaced in the vehicle, but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 9,000.
Tl* the contact rented a 2015 chevrolet cruze. while driving at unknown speeds, the gear shift changed to the manual position without warning. the contact also stated that there was an abnormal odor coming from the air vents intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 21,500. the consumer stated she had a habit of resting her arm on the gear shift, and had done so many times. however, the last time her arm brushed against the gear shift and the gear unlocked. updated 01/31/17*jb
Car is in for service for 3rd time -- intermittent electrical problem causing loss of transmission (i.e. revs then drops in and out of gear); driver display warnings include service stabilitrak, service power steering, service transmission. power door locks also operate on their own. instrument cluster gauges will drop towards their off position, then resume normal position during these events. if the car is shut off, sometimes a "no start" condition will occur when the key is turned to the start position, gauges will operate normal even with no start condition. after rapidly cycling the key off/on/start position for sometimes up to 30 times, car has always eventually started. sometimes condition has cleared, other times transmission is stuck in a gear (3rd for previous dealership visit, 4th for current visit) but not in a limp home mode as full engine power is available. manual shifting is not permitted, "shift denied" appearing on the driver display. very concerned about safety as dealership cannot guarantee that transmission will not drop into lower gear at highway speeds. if the transmission were to suddenly drop into 3rd at 75 mph with no application of the brakes, the car behind me may not be able to react to the sudden drop in my vehicle's speed. condition has happened when vehicle and components are hot, such as after highway/city driving for 2 hours.
On the same day, within a few hours of each occurrence, first i had the keys in ignition and vehicle running, and shut the door and all four doors locked. then a few hours later, i tried to put the vehicle in to drive and it would only rev up and would not go forward. when this happened, the d for drive on dash was flashing. reverse worked fine. in both instances the car was stationary. when the car was locked, we used the spare key to manually open the door. in the second instance, i had the car towed to a dealer. having trouble uploading the service receipt, but they found nothing wrong.
Sometimes when slowing to a stop, the car engine accelerates. i have to step on brakes very hard to keep the car from going forward. on november 5, 2015, i was slowly pulling into a parking space and the car accelerated, i stepped on brakes really hard but the car went forward...into a stone wall. no one can tell me what the problem is so i wind up still driving a car that may decide to lurch forward into traffic, a wall, another car. the vehicle is at the dealership now and i am waiting to hear about the status. i was told by the service center person to call gm and tell them that i have a potential product liability case. i am at a loss at what to do.
On 7/1/15, i was moving forward at about 5 mph, with my foot on the brake, looking for a parking spot in a parking lot. the engine speed suddenly increased and then returned to a normal level after a few seconds. a similar incident happened on 8/8 while i was maneuvering into a parking spot to parallel park. with my foot on the brake, the engine speed increased for about 5 seconds. the speed returned to normal after i put the car in park. the chevy dealer examined the car on 8/11, but couldn't duplicate the problem. they said there were no codes or bulletins regarding this problem. therefore, they said there was nothing they could do for me.
This complaint is regarding 3 issues since my vehicle purchase mid april of this year. the vehicles mileage at purchase was 7 miles and currently has approx. 6100 miles on odometer. the 3 issues are: #1) regularly while driving my vehicle at approx. 45-50 mph there is a steady humming noise coming from the engine compartment on the drivers side that last about 30-45 seconds. #2) also while driving my vehicle in traffic and coasting without pressing gas or brake going approx. 5-10mph the engine will shutter and cause the car to shake. the engine feels like its going to stall but i always press the gas petal so it continues driving without stalling since i'm always on the freeway when it occurs #3) involves the same or similar driving environment as issue #2. this issue occurs while coasting at various speeds unlike issue #2 where the cause feels like it could be the engine this is more like the transmission slipping into different gears mostly downshifting since the car suddenly jerks back as though you slammed on your brakes for a second and it regularly happens only while car is coasting at various speeds which i'm regularly doing since i drive down the cajon pass sitting in traffic every day, while coasting it happens almost every 90-120 seconds. on 7/21 i contacted my dealership and received a appointment for 7/22 since these issues could cause something very serious to happen to my wife or myself. though i have not had my car looked at by my dealership yet, i still wanted to make this report to insure that other owners are aware of the issue i'm facing, and this hopefully gets investigated thoroughly (by a third party) before someone gets seriously injured in a accident.
