Wheel is cracked, and the tire will not hold air pressure. do not know if wheel was in motion, or, if wheel was cracked by cold temperature, as vehicle is stored in an unheated garage during winter.

Right rear wheel rim on z06 cracked in two places. lost air while driving on highway. took to dealer thinking had a nail or slow leak in tire and discovered the two cracks causing resulting in a deflated tire. did not hit potholes, bumps or other obstructions.

Replaced 4 tires at 22,000 miles. noted out of round/bent right front wheel and cracked left rear wheel causing a slow air leak. gm denied left rear wheel warranty and claim pending on front right.

Passenger-side rear wheel cracked in three places. i noticed the air pressure in the tires going down so went to get it investigated by local tire shop who found the three cracks. gm won't honor their bumper-to-bumper warranty which is incredibly disappointing, despite the car only being 2 years old with 9k miles on it.

Cracked right rear wheel on highway with road repairs in process. no damage to the tire when inspected by discount tire company. wheel was leaking air from the inside flange of the wheel. the crack or fracture was very visible. contacted gm executive office via email and their investigation through the dealer indicated it was a road hazard issue. bob hook chevrolet in louisville, ky was the servicing dealer. invoice [xxx] dated 30th april 19. phone number 502.499.0800 cost of replacing broken wheel was $883.78. the car resides at my address in texas. was purchased from reliable chevrolet in richardson, tx who implied the wheel should have been covered under warranty. it is my understanding gm has a class action suit on grand sport and z06 models as they both use the same wheels. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tt

With approximately 9500 miles on our 2017 corvette, we purchased new tires in anticipation of a long road trip this summer. when the car was picked up from discount tire, we were told that at least two bent wheels. we contacted the dealer, who told us that the bent wheels are not covered by the 3-year 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty. the wheel repair facility informed us that 3 wheels were severely bent and one was slightly bent. we paid $400 for the repair to all four, as we consider it a critical safety issue. after this, we searched the internet and found hundreds of similar complaints, some on cars with under 500 miles. others reported that they were told by a dealership that the problem was not covered by warranty or recall because gm is not hearing about the issue repeatedly. a federal class action lawsuit has now been filed in california over this problem. our invoice for repair is attached.

In april 2019, my car's right rear wheel lost air pressure while i was driving on the interstate. i discovered that the wheel had a hairline crack on the inside lip, so i paid out of pocket to replace the wheel. in september 2019, my car's left rear wheel lost air pressure while driving locally. i discovered that the wheel had 3 hairline cracks on the inside lip, so again i paid out of pocket to replace the wheel.

Hairline crack on the inside rear wheel with no visible road hazard damage to the wheel or tire. it was discovered after a tpms low tire pressure warning after starting the car. the previous day was light city street driving without driving over any debris or potholes.

The car has had a vibration since new. the dealership said it was due to four bent wheels and three bad tires. the car had the four wheels and tires replaced at 3200 miles. two weeks and 400 miles later i took the car back to the dealership because the vibration did not get solved. the dealership said that three of the replaced were bent. the service manager said that due to the poor design of the wheels that are very prone to bending. now i am not driving the car in fear of the constant problem of bending the wheels. in one month the car has had seven wheels and four tires replaced.

At around 10,000 miles, it was discovered that all four wheels were bent. when replacing the rear tires at 17,000 miles, it was discovered that one of the rear wheels had two sizeable cracks on the inside lip. based on reports from corvetteforum.com, this a major problem with the c7 grand sport wheels.

Cracked rear wheel (inside lip). no curb rash, no marking on tire. dealer will not replace in warranty.

I have a 2017 grand sport with approx. 17,000 miles, and am losing air in the rear-left tire. i pulled the wheel and discovered four cracks on the back rim edge, located at 12:00, 1:00, 5:00 and 6:00. there are absolutely no signs of impact to the tire or rim.

Tl* the contact owns a 2017 chevrolet corvette. while driving 70 mph, the rear driver's side tire shredded due to a crack in the rim. the vehicle was sold to the contact in february and the dealer (gray chevrolet, 1245 n 9th st, stroudsburg, pa 18360, (866) 505-3058) stated that this type of chevrolet rim would crack in cold weather. the vehicle was taken to gray chevrolet (1245 n 9th st, stroudsburg, pa 18360, (866) 505-3058) where it was diagnosed that a new rim was needed. the rear driver's side rim was removed and a new one was replaced; however, after receiving the new rim, the other three rims also cracked. all four rims were replaced in march of 2018. a few months ago, the contact struck a pothole and the front driver's side rim cracked. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who stated that all four rims needed to be replaced again. the tires were replaced. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was 780.

I began experiencing moderate but worsening wheel shaking approximately 3 months ago and took car to chevrolet dealer to have it checked. technician found three our of my four original oem wheels are bent which was causing vibration. car has approx. 15,000 miles - locally driven, pleasure and weekends only!

My corvette grand sport with 4900 miles has experienced three bent or out of round wheels. the chevrolet dealership identified this during alignment process. i am still working with them to find a financial solution. but i have come to learn from forums and from talking with other owners this is a common and perhaps dangerous problem. wheels can eventually crack and tires can leak.

2017 corvette grand sport, purchased in june of 2017, only used on weekend and the current mileage is only 930. just noticed a vibration in the front end when travel on highway at speed 55+. bring the car to the dealership for inspection and the service manager inform me all 4 wheels has been bend and need to be replace. file a case (9-5019078980) with gm customer care center and after 1 week, gm center called and told me this is not cover under the factory warranty. very disappoint and loosing trust in gm product related to quality, reliability and safety concern for the consumers. this problem with the factory wheel bending or cracking has been report and listed in several corvette forum and most are related to the 2017-2019 grand sport model. hopefully there will be an investigation open soon to prevent any further damage causing serious accident similar to the air bag problems.

Right rear wheel cracked, not due to hitting anything i.e. curb, pot hole etc. normal driving and tpms sensor activated indicating low tire pressure. upon careful inspection i discovered the wheel developed a crack. very common problem amongst owners of late model corvette grand sports. i've read of scores of corvette owners experiencing the same problem, some owners experiencing cracked or bent wheels many times on the same car even after several replacements. on the corvette forum some owners have had cracked wheels on brand new cars with only a few hundred miles or new cars only weeks or months old in the majority of cases gm is refusing to cover the wheels under warranty even though the cars are technically brand new and still under factory warranty. i've spoken to the head corvette engineer who is in charge of the entire development and design of the car about the problem. his reply is that they were aware of the problem but don't know the cause yet they won't warranty or replace the defective wheels. my car only has 19,000 miles on it and is still under warranty. i'm afraid the same problem will happen to my other wheels. i don't want to replace the wheel out of my own pocket only to have it happen again.

The wheels on my vehicle are cracked on the rear passenger side. i picked up my (new) car from lamarque auto dealer in new orleans and drove home to beaumont. when i got to beaumont, the low tire pressure warning came on. so today (1-21-19) i took car to discount tire and they found that my wheel is cracked. i' assuming it cracked while driving over 200 miles on i-10 headed home.

Cracked rim from everyday driving on vehicle. issue was discovered after putting new tires on vehicle at 14.8k miles. vehicle was driven for approx 50miles when i noticed that a rear left tire was slowly losing pressure. i didn't recall driving over any significant bumps in road during this period.

2 bent wheels under (better than) normal driving conditions on my 2017 corvette grand sport. garage kept/covered. pristine 2-year-old car with 7000 miles. service dept alerted me to the bends during scheduled maintenance and while investigating a pulsing problem in the front brake rotors. the vehicle is hardly ever driven, has never seen rough roads/city streets/bad weather/etc. the vehicle has never been "tracked" or otherwise abused. this is a "summer only," weekend vehicle that has been impeccably maintained. there are no visible scuffs/scrapes/bends/bulges or other damage to the tires or wheels. never hit any pothole/road hazard/debris, *ever.* based on recent online research and information from the service manager, i'm now concerned that these wheels will totally crack or otherwise deform while driving. this is an accident waiting to happen. after opening a case (9-5012193448) and over an hour on the phone, gm has denied a warranty claim and will not further discuss/escalate this issue. gm would not provide a description or copy of the method used to determine "defect vs.damage", or a written copy of the evaluation made by the regional warranty rep. gm refuses to disclose any information regarding other instances of this problem, will not replace/repair the defective wheels, and will not pay for a suitable/comparable 3rd party replacement. i've also read about other owners have the same issues via these links: https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a23705281/2017-chevrolet-corvette-grand-sport-reliability/ https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-general-discussion/4161059-2018-grand-sport-cracked-rim.html http://www.carproblemzoo.com/chevrolet/corvette/wheel-problems.php

Driving down a street in aiken sc (york st) i ran across a manhole that was below street grade. immediately upon speeding up, noticed vibration. took the car to local tire dealership that specializes in corvette tires and they verified that both wheels on the left side were bent. they were both bent on the inside of the wheel away from the spokes. i was going less than 25 mph when i ran over the recessed manhole. gm does not recommend repairing theses wheels since according to them will eventually fail if repaired. that means i have to buy two new wheels for over $1800 out of pocket.

When we starting losing air in the left rear tire, we had it checked and a cracked rim was discovered. did not hit any obvious road hazards, curbs or debris.

2 bent wheels traveling from tucson to memphis. pot hole on interstate in tenn. 2 more bent wheels on return trip in nm. a pot hole on the interstate.

The right front and right rear rims on my corvette are bent and i have had this car less than 3 years. i have other cars that are much older and have never had a bent rim. this seems to be a common problem with the wide rims on this car and the z06 since the wheel barrels are very wide and have no support by way of the spokes at the far edge.

2017-2019 corvette grand sport has a high number of report instances of rims cracking and bending that forum members feel is not normal, not due to hitting potholes or anything. i had never hit any potholes or anything hard, and while having my tires changed, the shop shows me a crack in the rim. on the blog site "corvette forum", there's numerous people and pictures of people showing their cracked or bent rims. gm is telling people this is normal wear and tear and not dealing with it. this is not normal. several people have reported multiple tires bent or cracked. please investigate. i'm sure gm does not have accurate data, people most people report the dealer turns their claim away as not being covered, so it's not getting fully reported. this appears to be a problem only with the grand sport model.

Wheels bend out of round during normal use..dangerous and is a manufacturers defect that chevrolet will not acknowledge.. i am aware of several instances with other c7 grand sport owners this should be addressed by chevrolet. fixed at no charge to the owners... the wheel could sheer of the car and result in a serious accident and fatalities

My vehicle was purchased new april 2017 last year the rear wheels were leaking air and upon inspection it was discovered the inner rim was cracked in several places. this was the first occurrence happening to passenger side rear. within 6 months another issue with the driver side rear rim this had one crack upon inspection and taking it to dealer who would say that it's driver driving habits and road conditions that is the cause. during the second incident the dealer service agents said that it is common and they get a lot of them. the issue is not enough people are reporting it or know the process to report it so the manufacturer (gm) can be held accountable for it. once i was able to capture photos of the wheel with the 7 cracks and send it to gm corporate did i get assistance for warranty coverage for the wheels. my concern now is the wheels that are on it now. i have a vehicle that i fear has defective unsafe wheels that can possibly crack and fall apart like glass. i am attaching photos that show the wheel with the several cracks. confirmation of actual dates can be obtained upon request.

Noticed a vibration in the car at highway speeds. took the vehicle into the dealer and was told that the wheel was bent. service manager stated that this was happening to many corvettes and was due to the stiffness of the tire and the weakness of the factory wheel. gm has denied a claim under warranty.

In the past year my rear alloy wheels have suffered two separate cracks in the left rear wheel and one crack in the right rear wheel causing flat tires. on each occasion i went to my chevy dealer and was told that this damage was not covered under my bumper to bumper warranty. i had to have the wheels repaired at my own expense. the dealer told me that these wheels are fragile because they are low profile. this car has never been driven off-road or tracked nor hit any major potholes. i am 76 years old and have driven millions of miles and owned dozens of cars and have never had a bent or cracked wheel before. these incidents happened in september of 2018, august of 2019 and october of 2019. i am now afraid to drive this car because of the danger of driving on unsafe wheels. by the way, these rims cost over $800 apiece. i have met many other owners of 2017-2018 corvette grand sport and z06 models that use the same wheels and have had to deal with the same problems of cracked and bent wheels that were refused warranty coverage by chevrolet. online blogs have stated that chevrolet doesn't keep records of all of these claims that they refuse to honor. if chevrolet refuses to deal with these problems there should be a government recall to force them to correct the serious danger posed by these substandard wheels. it also appears that there is a class action suit that is being created to force some action and reimbursement from the manufacturer.

During a routine tire installation, the service dept of the dealer from which the car was purchased bent (3) of our grand sport wheels laterally. we have read other reports on corvette forums about these particular rims cracking and bending with little or no reason for them to do so. we've also read where the ahtsa has been notified by other corvette owners concerning this problem and yet to date no action has been taken to rectify the situation. corvette forums have also stated that these wheels can bend easily duration the vehicle operation. these are high performance vehicles with wheels that are substandard. how many people have to get injured or die due to these defective wheels before your agency forces gm to make definitive changes for the consumer?

Pissed off!, ... my grand sport is 1 year old this week, and it's been babied the entire time when it comes to driving over road imperfections. 8,000 miles on the odometer, yet my driver's rear tire has been leaking air slowly since about 4,000 miles. this certainly happened while in motion driving over normal freeways and streets. in the last 2 weeks the leak has become so bad it's been flat (11 psi) twice the next day after having been properly filled the day before! (i've always carried a portable tire inflator in he trunk). this is sooo obvious that there is a manufacturer's problem with these cast aluminum 12" wide wheels on the z06 and grand sport models. gm should be exposed for denying anyone's claim when one of these are bent or cracked within the warrantee period. what makes me even angrier is that much of this could possibly be avoided if chevrolet would make the "mag ride update" available for free, instead of the $350 they charge!!!" ... many who have paid for this ridiculous charge, (should be free) ... have said it makes the suspension and ride, softer and far more compliant while improving the the cornering and handling. i believe this would go a long way toward relieving the stresses these wheels are failing under! i wish we would organize and file a class action lawsuit against gm for these wheel failures! now i have to go through the aggravation, time loss of vehicle usage and probably still have to pay for a wheel repair that itself will likely crack again, (safety concern)... or buy a whole new set of aftermarket wheels !!! i am here, contacting nhtsa to file my complaint!

Had vibration and was told i had 3 bent wheel at 6500 miles. i am 65 years old and never in my lifetime did i ever have a wheel problem. i was one of the lucky ones. i used "smart driver" to defend my driving habits. gm did replace my wheels. now i am afraid to drive my 84k car

After driving the car the tire pressure warning came on and we started noticing the tire pressure leaking on the right rear of my wife grand sport corvette, the wheel was taken off to investigate the cause of leak. it was discovered that there was a crack alone the bead ring area of the inside drum area of the wheel. the dealership refused to cover under warranty and didn't offer repairs. the wheel was taken to a reputable wheel repair shop with a guarantee on the repair. after driving the car approximately 1000 mile the same wheel started to leak again. after removing the wheel there was another crack approximately 180 degrees from the repaired crack. after refusing to drive the vehicle to the dealership with a cracked wheel, it was removed from the car and taken to the dealership and also called the gm priority care at 866-636-2273. gm priority care gave me the case number 8-4778215369 . the dealership still refused to cover the wheel under warranty but offered to sell me another wheel for $250. the vehicle currently has 19000miles and is my wife's daily driver for work. the car has not been abused or involved in any accidents. it has been painted due to scratches from tornado wind damage. i took pictures before the repair was made and additional picture of the second crack in the same wheel. in my opinion the dealership should have replaced the wheel when the first crack occurred. now i have no confidence in the quality of the grand sport wheels and will refuse their offer of getting a wheel for $250. after checking with an aftermarket wheel company for replacement wheels, they notified me that gm is aware there is an issue with the grand sport wheel and that i should take it to the dealership for replacement. the car is currently not safe to drive until i get a replacement wheel. see attached photos of the first and second crack in the wheel.

Gm is putting defective wheels on grand sport and z06 corvettes. these wheels will not withstand normal driving on any highway. the issue is that these wheels bend on impact, be it expansion joints along bridges or small imperfections in the roadway that other cars handle every day. the issue is that gm says these are road hazards and they are not responsible. the wheels were not engineered to take normal driving on roads anywhere. this started in june after a trip i took and the car picked up a vibration. took it to s dealer and he said the wheels were bent and not covered under warranty and would sell me new ones 2 front wheels for about $1800. i then took the car home and took the front wheels off and had them straightened at a cost of $110 each. i thought that took care of the problem so we drove the car on another trip to nova scotia, canada. we were on a trip and lost air in the left front tire ( picture below ) it had worn all the way down through all the belts due to the wheels being bent again. see all 3 pictures. these wheels are a safety hazard for these cars to use on public highways as they develop cracks and cause severe tire wear in short periods of time. i had another set of brand new wheels at home. i had to come back home and get them and take them back to canada to get my car home. on the 1700 mile trip back the car developed a vibration and when i took it back to my tire dealer he said that the right front wheel was bent. the big issue is gm does not track these issues if you do not buy the new wheels from them and it goes unreported. a friend of mine who has less than 5000 miles on his 2019 needs to buy 4 wheels and 4 tires and the dealer even told us there were 2 people the week before that had bent rims on i-71.

Had 3 of the 4 rims bend, per the dealer diagnosis, for no apparent reason. car had 2,000 miles on it. it seems to be a systemic problem. there are multiple posts about this issue, along with the wheels cracking for no reason, at the following internet forum; https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c7-general-discussion-142/ in my instance the car drove fine the evening before (i'd actually picked it up from the dealer the same day as they repaired another issue). got in the car the next morning to go to work and noticed the bad vibration. i thought a wheel weight had fallen off. took it to the dealer and after diagnosis they informed me that 3 of the 4 rims were bent (both passenger side and driver rear).

Crack in driver side rear wheel rim. loss of air pressure warning came up on the information panel, would not hold pressure after re inflating tire .when inspected there was a crack in the rim.

Left, driver's wheel cracked with normal daily driving.

Ordered my car and picked up @ bowling green ky as a factory delivery(at corvette museum) i had had problems with wheel bending and cracking. had a tire going flat. had all tires checked and rebalanced at dealership, they informed me they were bent. talked us into repairing them. short will late had tire complete flat on the drive. took to the dealer for repair. wheel bent again and some cracked. they say the are not part of the car. never seen car going down the street without wheels. they would not repair or replace again. i can't keep paying for repairs on defect wheels. i have the wheels stored in my attic if anyone would like to investigate, this very dangerous product on these corvettes. i could not continue to drive my car safely so i replaced the 4 wheels at my expense. gm did not pay for any repairs, or new wheels.

2017 chevrolet corvette. consumer writes in regards to cracked wheels. *ld *js *js the consumer stated two wheels cracked while on a trip. the tires were drained of air. *js

Left front and left rear wheels bent after very minor defect in highway, had to replace wheels

On multiple occasions, my dealer or tire shop have found cracked or severely bent wheels. i have had to replace several of them out-of-pocket at a cost of nearly $1000 per wheel. there was usually no indication of a problem besides a slow air leak. i have always taken great care to avoid potholes and large bumps.

I had 3 bent wheels and 1 cracked wheel after about 10,000 miles

2017 z06 corvette. consumer writes with concerns to safety defect and many malfunctions with the vehicles tires. *as *tr

Both left wheels on my 2017 grand sport bent in normal driving over normal roads. in researching the issue, this seems to be a recurring problem with the stock wheels on 2017-2018 corvette grand sports and 2015-18 corvette z06s. gm agreed to replace the front wheel, but the dealer didn't realize the rear was also bent (no visible damage to either wheel, the wheels are just not strong enough). gm is now claiming they won't fix/replace the rear wheel. car vibrates because of the bent wheel.
