Problems with 2010 Chevrolet Corvette FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

On average, the 2010 Chevrolet Corvette starts to “feel” problems with the FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM and its various aspects after 75 189 miles.

Recently reported FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM problems on 2010 Chevrolet Corvette

When the vehicle sits in an enclosed garage, it fills the garage with raw fuel odor. this happens most often when it is around 3/4 tank. no fuel leaks on the floor visible but odor is very strong. gas mileage has dropped significantly as well.

Gas smell when tank is filled

After fueling and for at least 100 miles afterward there is a distinct gasoline smell inside the car and in the garage. no leakage noticed under the car. took it to a chevrolet dealer who performed the smoke test which it failed. they replaced the pump and sending unit at no charge. this offer from chevrolet expires after 10 years or 120000 miles currently. this remediation should be a recall or a permanent technical solution for any corvette of this model that experiences this increasingly serious problem, no matter when it occurs.

Fuel smell emitting from vehicle. fills garage with fumes.

Fuel vapors leaking from evap system causing check engine light to come on, code p0455. i took it to the dealership and the service rep informed me that the leak was from coming from gas tank. i was told to drive the car until check engine comes back on and then call the dealership so he could contact gm.

Fuel pumps on left and right side . cracks in fuel i lines and pumps not working. replaced both fuel pumps because of gas leakage and gas smell in garage.plus pumps would not equalize fuel so it would't start. cost $c2666.54 to fix!!

There was/is a strong fuel smell emitting from the rear left side of the car. it is very noticeable when the car is running and then parked in an enclosed area or if standing near it especially on that side. after some light inspection it seems the fuel pump high pressure line is leaking at the pump exit fitting/junction to the high pressure fuel line. this has only recently come to my attention. i assured i had the fuel cap secured and the tank is only half fuel. i can only conclude this is a faulty design or materials and is a severe safety hazard. the fuel tank or fuel system has not been worked on and shows no sign of damage. the car has just over 85,500 miles and is stored in a closed and secure private garage. gm has no recall but has updated parts and will gladly sell them to you and have their dealer repair the defective design at the owners full expense. they accept no direct responsibility for this problem and resulting repair costs yet they saw to it to update the replacement parts.

Have a strong fuel odor after driving the car. garage is inundated with fuel smell and i have to open the garage door and use a floor fan to ventilate it to make it habitable. suspect a fuel leak.

After filling up my tank, i smell a strong gas smell primarily from the left rear (where i fill up) side of the car. it fills my garage with strong fumes and i don't feel save starting it, much less driving it. i don't smell anything in the cabin, only when it's in the garage. also leads me to believe i'm loosing gas and fuel economy so that's a drag. i've looked at possible causes, and it could be many different things so it's currently uknown as far as what part is exactly wrong. i smell the fumes when the car is stationary.

Very strong fuel vapor order when parkedp

The car smells of fuel continuously in side and out. this started happening within the last 5 weeks without cause. it seems more pronounced on the drivers wheel well. it seems that is a more pronounced problem when the tank is 1/2 full or higher. i can not park the car in the garage as it stinks up the house. i've learned from research that there is a plastic elbow connector that deteriorates over time on top of the tank, cracks and sprays fuel. if this is not a safety recall, it certainly should be.

When you put gasoline in the car the smell in the drivers compartment is almost unbearable. it is worse once you start driving.

I have a very strong fuel smell coming from the drivers side near the rear wheel. i believe the problem to be a leak from the top of the fuel pump module, maybe it's cracked and spraying fuel on top of my tank. i am afraid the fuel will run down onto the exhaust pipe and catch fire.

I have a 2010 chevy corvette base model with a gas leak it was parked in my garage for a two weeks . i went and put gas and noticed a strong smell of gas. i drove the car for a while and put it back in the garage the gas smell got worse i took it to the shop they said that the fuel pump is leaking wanting to charge me 2000 to fix it.

Fuel / gas smell ...no leaks detected. most apparent when vehicle is stationary or garaged. vehichle can not be garaged due to excessive gas smell and possible explosion caused by gas vapors coming from vehicle.

My car has a very bad gas smell in cabin and in garage if car has more then a half of tank of gas in it

Overwhelming fuel odors.. at first i assumed it might be a bad fuel cap. replaces with oem fuel cap and smell if still very much present.. 1 thing to note.. smell is present only when fuel tank is filled past half a tank. when i only put about 5-6 gallons from empty; there is no smell or odor.. have tried it on several occasions and has proven positive on each fill up over 6 gallons..

Strong odor / smell of fuel.. noticed after filling fuel tank and stationed vehicle in enclosed garage..

Strong fuel smell coming from fuel cap area, caused by small fuel pump leak. fumes could cause a fire.

When the fuel tank is more than 50% full there is a strong persistent odor of fuel that fills my parking garage and can also be smelled in the car while driving. when the fuel tank is below 50% full the odor is less noticeable and virtually disappears as the fuel tank empties. there are no visible fuel leaks and there is no lack of performance from the engine. it appears that fuel vapors are leaking from the tank without leaking to the ground. the fuel cap is in good condition and properly secured.

Fuel smell inside car

Severe gasoline fuel smell from leaking fuel tank pump. odor permeates garage, house and inside of car.

Fuel smell, leaking pump on top of fuel tank. fire hazard. fills garage with fuel smell that's extremely strong. vehicle could catch fire while driving spilling on hot exhaust. could cause house fire.

Strong fuel smell when tank is over 1/2 full. fuel leak on driver side. strong odor of gasoline by driver side rear wheel well

A strong smell of fuel in the cockpit. while there is no visible puddle of fuel on my garage floor, the fuel odor is very strong and i am obliged to keep my garage door open or the fuel smell enters into the house. i took it to the service dept of where i purchased the vehicle (carmax) and was informed today that the leak is on the top of the left fuel tank and that to access it, it would be necessary to remove the transmission. i was also informed that since the job was a "big one" carmax would make arrangements to have my car brought to a chevrolet dealership. i was also told that my car max service warranty might not cover the repairs done outside their shop. i am bringing this to your attention in hopes that due to the fire danger involved with leaking fuel general motors will issue a safety recall on the problem. the fuel smell is amplified when there is 3/4 of a tank or more. the fuel smell is particularly strong when the vehicle is in the garage. the fuel smell diminishes if the vehicle is parked outside in the open air.

I have a 2010 corvette grand sport with 46000 miles that has strong gas fumes coming from the drivers side by the gas tank while parked in the garage. even after sitting for 2 days the gas smell didn't go away. i took the car into chevrolet and they replaced the gas tank and the fuel pump on the drivers side because it was leaking. the repair cost 2900.00. i asked the service rep at chevrolet if the new gas tank design flaw had been fixed and he replied that he didn't know. i also had a 2006 corvette with the same problem so i have to assume it hasn't been fixed. chevrolet hasn't fixed the problem and i'm afraid it will keep happening and my house or car will catch fire and someone may get hurt. there needs to be a recall and we should get reimbursed.
