Markeshia was driving in her neighborhood when she swerved into a pole while trying to avoid hitting a stray dog. her airbag deployed and her 10 year old daughters did not. immediately after accident she went in ambulance to tx. children's hospital where her daughter was rushed to trauma unit for immediate surgery. her daughter has a permanent brain injury.

My 16 yr old son was driving in a cul-de-sac when he was about 3/4 of the way thru the curve his steering failed and he hit a light pole. he stated that the steering wheel froze up on him. he couldn't turn the wheel. we took the vehicle to chevy dealership. they stated that the recall work was already completed. then why are we continuing to have this problem? my son is suffering from whiplash and is going to chiropractor visits twice weekly.

I am extremely upset with my 2007 chevy cobalt, i do not want to complain, however, something must be done. for as long as i have had the car i have had a number of problems. however, the dealership failed to acknowledge the warranty. i needed to replace multiple keys and door handles. recently. the car has failed and is sitting. i find this ironic since my warranty recently ran out. the timing chain jumped and bent the valves. this is a very serious repair and is very costly. i have had everything check regularly. there was no warning and i nearly wrecked my car, as i was driving when it happened. i recently received another recall for the ignition switch. the car was recalled before for a similar issue. prior to the engine issues recently, i had noticed an ignition and steering problem. however, now i cant even move the car to get the recall issue resolved. this vehicle was my first car, the car is nearly new and was when i bought it. this should not have happened. especially so close to the warranty expiration and with no warning. there was no way to prevent this from happening. i was not aware that cobalts had zero tolerance. this should not be the case. i would not have bought the car if i knew of these potential problems. i have faith that gm will help to resolve these issues. thanks so much. *tr

I was traveling on the freeway when i was clipped by a diesel truck on my drivers left rear. i spun counter clockwise in front of diesel and went straight towards center divider, upon observing a vehicle in the same lane my vehicle was head towards. both vehicles made contact hitting me on my drivers front panel and the cobalt hitting straight into center divider no air bags were deployed. injuries were sustained, car was a total loss. this vehicle has nothing but problem twice in 2013 the key would break off in the ignition and were not fitting correctly causing replacement. *tr

The drivers side door handle does not work from the inside. this is dangerous because it could trap a driver inside the vehicle. *tr

4/22/13 approx 7:30 am, approached red-light, gently applying brakes. car started to lose power! dashboard lights dimmed while i was slowing down. this has been happening for over a yr. as soon as light turned green, car felt like it was losing power and was going to stall out! (like if you were to run out of gas. stepped on the gas, as soon as i saw the light turn green, to try to prevent the stall out, and about 1/4 into intersection, another car was running a caution light, which turned to red... my car regained power with a thrust of the engine, which took me into the path of the other vehicle who hit me at about 35 mph, which caused us to spin completely around in the middle of intersection. airbags did not deploy. the police report stated i failed to yield the right of way. in part that is true, as i felt i had to apply the gas to the car to keep it from "stalling! heavy damage to driver's side, front end, hood, bumper and support beam by engine. there are many recalls on this car. 5/9/2012, fuel odor or spotting on ground; 9/16/10-loss of power steering assist; 3/1/2010-recall 10v073000 power steering motor replacement; 1022/2009-fuel pump module replacement. in the pass three yrs i advised east syracuse chevy dealer that my dashboard lights, lighted areas radio, etc; go in and out like the car has an electrical problem, door left-open, lights, low-fuel, single lights chimes all don't work. dealer advised me there is a short in the dash somewhere causing all these problems, radio speakers are all connected i would have to pay to repair which was over $2,000. remotes don't work. i have had many front end problems with this vehicle, i.e. sway bar, steering column bushings; struts;steering components, linkage/cv drive axle boots, control arms; repairs;11/30/11, 2/16/2011. *tr

Driving west approx. 35 mph lady pulled in front of across 4 lanes traffic hit broadside on her passenger side. little damage to her car. over $6000. damage to my car. no air bag deployed. driver of my car hurt wrist and hit knees on dash. ended up 8 months later having knee surgery because of tear in knee from wreck. passenger hurt wrists. *tr

Periodically, the driver side door handle would not work. it could be pulled, but the door would not open. this has happened several times over the past few years. it cannot be opened from the inside either. today, it happened again, and this time, the outside door handle came off in my hand. *tr

Door wont open from inside or out. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet colbalt. the contact stated that both the driver and passenger side door latched detached from the vehicle. neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 99,000 and the current mileage was 102,000. the vin was unavailable.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet cobalt. while driving 25 mph, the contact stated that the passenger side door opened without warning and he was unable to close it. the vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who diagnosed that the vehicle had a fractured latch. the manufacturer was aware of the failure. the current and failure mileage was 59,000. the vehicle was scheduled to be repaired. the vin was unavailable.

I have a 2007 chevy cobalt with a leaking sunroof. it has been to the dealer to be fixed 4 times. i was told: it cannot be fixed permanently, don't park it outside in the elements, bring it in regularly to have the drain lines cleared out, etc. it has been parked under our carport all winter. took it out 2 days ago and it rained last night.... it leaks! the car smells and it only has 21,000 miles on it. a car with a sunroof/moonroof should be made to drive out in the elements. i have had numerous cars with the same kind of roof and it never leaked. the car is faulty and i am extremely frustrated. spoke to gm executive office and the said "bring it back to the dealer to be fixed". lesson: if your roof leaks on a gm car, get a new one! very poor customer assistance and service. *tr

Chrome plated door handle on 2007 chevy cobalt. the chrome has come off and sliced opened my hand. you are taking to long to force gm to recall vehicles with bad handles. you are already investigating the 2007 tahoe for the same problem. now that we are all part owner of gm and taxpayers keep nhtsa running, stop taking so long with the "red tape" and do the right thing. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet cobalt. the contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the driver side door opened independently without any warnings. the contact mentioned that once the door was able to be closed, it was unable to be opened to exit the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not offer any assistance. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 35,000 and the current mileage was 85,000.

I purchased a 2007 cobalt in july of 2007 my car had 43 miles the date of purchase i've had problems with it leaking water in the floor board on the passenger side twice it finally got fixed under warranty, now i'm having problems a year and a half later with my powersteering going in and out when i'm driving that's so dangerous my car now has 40,000 miles on and customer serviced tells me my bumper to bumper is for 36, 000 i can't afford to get this fixed. i've owned my cars for twelve years and have never had any problems with any of my vehicles please help me understand having such major problems like this with a brand new car that i've had for three years. here's my case number with chevrolet customer service 71-777593891. *tr

I purchased a 2007 chevy cobalt in 2008, with approx. 30,000 miles. when i had around 35,000, miles it started to get loud ,rattling noises, like metal on metal, coming from under the car. they usually happen when i go over ripples or bumps in the road , at slower speeds. i took my car back to the dealer and asked him if they had heard of any problems or received any technical service bulletins about this problem and he said they had not. (july 2009) i told him to inform me if they did. in the meantime, my warranty expired. at that time,i had already started to research the problem online and network with some other persons, locally, to see if they had any such problem. well lo and behold, it seems that there was a technical bulletin issued on 11-9-2005 (# 050232005) that details this problem. and yes, apparently, other persons that i have talked to, and also with the research that i did online, definitely showed that many others are also having this same problem! i feel that as a responsible auto manufacturer that gm needs to correct this horrible rattle.a recall for this is in order, especially since they were aware of this since 2005. i do not feel that we,,the consumer ,should be responsible for this repair,as gm is trying to repair their image,"do the right" and fix this at no cost to the consumer--recall. *tr

2007 chevy cobalt- many problems, electrical comes off and on, car rides like a bucket of bolts, at 50,000 kms front passenger wheel had 1 1/2 inch movement while parked. very dangerous. why no recalls for these issues? the fixer of the car replaced a suspension control arm bushing. all kinds of noise, all pot holes i thought the car was going to fall apart. hunk of junk car. many safety issues should be investigated. brought back to the dealer several times for sagging doors on two door model, irregular idol, rattling sounds in the front end to no avail. thank god i only leased it, they can keep it, it is a hunk of junk. i would never recommend this car to anyone. *tr
