My chevrolet cobalt 2007 was called for a recall, even though my car was running perfectly i decided to take it to the closest chevrolet dealership to me. at the dealership they changed the power steering wheel, the ignition and all that had to do with it, and to my surprise they also changed the fuel pump. when i received my car from the dealer i noticed a fuel odor coming from my car, i did not pay attention to it because i thought it was normal since they changed the fuel pump. after a couple of days i took my car back since i noticed a big gas leak on the driveway when i moved my car. the dealership checked the car and said it had nothing to do with the recall and that the filler neck was cracked, and that i might have possibly hit my car and cracked the filler neck. i was very frustrated and i talked to managers and everything, but the only response i got was that they will not cover it and that i will have to pay for it. after calling general motors and chevrolet, they told me that i had to pay $500 dollars for the repair and that they will cover the rest. i was very upset and frustrated, but i am a college student and i work, so i needed my car. i paid the $500 dollars out of credit cards because i did not have the money for a mistake that they made and people at the dealership even told me they did because they said that the filler neck is plastic and that with the weather changes in houston when "handled" can crack easily. i thought it was a total fraud and i want my $500 dollars back and also the fee they charged to check it which was almost $85 dollars. *tr
Several months ago got notice that ignition lock was "recalled" by gm. shortly after that i noted the "service air bag" light was on periodically. stopped at gm dealer and was advised that parts would not be available until oct 2014. got another notice that it was time to get recall fixed. i took my vehicle in for replacement of ignition lock, which was done on 12/10/2014, got home and saw "service air bag" light was on. called dealer and was advised that "air bag" light was not part of the recall. have another appointment for 17th to get it checked. recall 14v047000 is "airbag and electrical" but it doesn't cover airbag ??? i had trouble with this dealer years ago but he is the closest (within 30 miles) to me so i use him. *tr
2007 chevrolet cobalt safety recall ignition switch *cn the consumer was only given one set of keys, when the recall was performed. the dealer stated they would issue the second set in october. the consumer called the dealer in october, and was informed there was a shortage of keys and they did not know when the keys would be available. *jb
On the 2007 chevy cobalt, the key gets stuck in the accessory position and cannot be removed. you must either jump the car or push the switch under the steering column to remove the key. with the key in the accessory position, the battery drains and renders the radio inactive. this adds to an additional safety concern because the seatbelt chime and blinker sound go through the radio and cannot be heard when the radio is inactive. chevy stated that you must bring in the car to have the radio reprogrammed for $130 each time the battery goes dead. *tr
Gauges going haywire message flash of low fuel and power steering clicking in the gear shift head light flashing snatching while shifting gears up or down with accelerated or decreased speed. at a turn to pull off the road power steering is lost and hard to turn. when i shut the car off and started it again every thing cleared until i reached 5 miles from start over point. every time i start the car everything is fine until i drive it a little. i had this same problem 2 year ago and had it repaired @ jupiter chevrolet. they said it was tcm, ecm module. i have it now @ reliable chevrolet waiting for diagnostics. *tr
The radio started displaying phone and did not work, i do not have the option to plug in a phone to my car. this happened off and on for a week then on 11/17/2014 i went to start the car and the car would not start, the gauges went crazy and the ignition locked and will not let me take the key out. the anti theft icon keeps coming on and i now have to tow it to the dealer to have it fixed. i have had nothing but problems with this cars electrical system and from reading the other complaints here it seems that gm should be investigating these electrical problems and expanding recalls for these issues. *tr

I was driving in town and suddenly lost all power. i had to use the momentum of the car to move over 2 lanes of traffic in order to get pulled to the side of the road. had it towed to the mechanic and found out that both the fuel pump and the electrical panel under my fuse box had gone out. this cost me over $1800.00 to have fixed and the mechanic states gm was aware of the fuse box issue and to watch for a recall. also the fuel pump was a specialty that was not placed in most cars of this year/model and had to be ordered from the factory. the problems that are happening with these cars are ridiculous. gm should have to pay the owners to have the entire car replaced. *tr
Parked vehicle and entered house. roughly two minutes later the neighbor was banging on the door saying the car was on fire. the vehicle was not overheating or smoking when we left it. we used a garden hose until the fire department arrived and my husband disconnected the battery. the fire seems to have began at or near the fuse box. it also appears to have burned into the fuel line. without the presence of our neighbors and living two blocks from the fire department, it could have been much worse. *tr

8/6/14 i drove my car to work and when i got in it to go to lunch it wouldn't start i purchased a brand new legend battery from napa on 2/13/14 got it jumped drove it to napa the battery was completely dead they gave me another one the next day it did the same thing the whole car lost power and cut off while i was about to make a left turn. my locks on the doors are jumping up and down, my speakers on the doors are going in and out. my ignition switch has not been changed yet they tell me it takes 8 weeks before the part gets in. i am frustrated about this, this is not safe and i bought this car brand new paid for and i'm having all kinds of issue. *tr
I am extremely upset with my 2007 chevy cobalt, i do not want to complain, however, something must be done. for as long as i have had the car i have had a number of problems. however, the dealership failed to acknowledge the warranty. i needed to replace multiple keys and door handles. recently. the car has failed and is sitting. i find this ironic since my warranty recently ran out. the timing chain jumped and bent the valves. this is a very serious repair and is very costly. i have had everything check regularly. there was no warning and i nearly wrecked my car, as i was driving when it happened. i recently received another recall for the ignition switch. the car was recalled before for a similar issue. prior to the engine issues recently, i had noticed an ignition and steering problem. however, now i cant even move the car to get the recall issue resolved. this vehicle was my first car, the car is nearly new and was when i bought it. this should not have happened. especially so close to the warranty expiration and with no warning. there was no way to prevent this from happening. i was not aware that cobalts had zero tolerance. this should not be the case. i would not have bought the car if i knew of these potential problems. i have faith that gm will help to resolve these issues. thanks so much. *tr

While driving along, getting off of an exit ramp onto a main hwy, i reached over to turn my defroster off, when the wheel jerked to the left, i attempted to gain control but never got total control although i did get back onto the road. a few seconds later the car jerked again and this time i realized the steering wheel was not moving-it was locked up and i could not turn it. i then hit the guard rail on the north side of the hwy and then came across to the south side hitting the concrete bridge railing. the ignition switch recall had supposedly been corrected but the ignition locked up on this vehicle. *tr
I take the car to camino real chevrolet to do the recall for ignition key on 6/9/2014, i get back my car on the same day and go home. i feel that there is some problem on control of speed. on 6/11/2014, i went out with the car for a few mile, the car began lost power and slow down. so i called aaa to tow my car back to the dealer for investigate, they ask me for a checking fee of $300 and told me that they have changed the part, it will be other problem. so i searched the internet there is more recall on that model on the fuel pump and other, but they refuse to replace for me. so i called gm, they said there is no recall on my car, i don't know why? information i searched from the internet said that the wrong computer program, connection, coded keys anti-theft function will affect the car from starting. they never check that and told me to paid for changing the fuel pump. what should i do? i have no car to use over one week. *tr

Received original notification of chevrolet recall several months ago, scheduled for repair, and took vehicle in to have recall performed and advised they could not do it. have received several notifications that correct i the repair has not been completed and have scheduled the vehicle 2 more times for repair to be told they do not have parts. contact with chevrolet has been lees than cooperative. total of 3 times they have not been able to perform the required recall repairs. the recalls numbers are for 13454 ignition switch, 14113 ignition lock cylinder and key. it appears from the staff of local facility that no vehicles on list have been repaired yet nor do they have any knowledge of when this will be corrected. it is of my opinion that gm is playing a game to relieve themselves of liability by sending notification to schedule your repair but unable to provide the support to correct the issue. *tr

I had my ignition switch replaced by a gm dealer, now the airbag light is on. i noticed on the ignition recall it mentioned the airbag. so i'm wondering if this airbag light is on due to something with the switch replacement. *tr
My speakers on the front of the car go on and off as well as my inside turn signals. now it has progressed to the check air bag indicator going on and off while starting and during driving. i have informed the dealership and was told it was several electrical problems. the airbag portion of it scares me as i am only 5 ft tall and sit close to the wheel. i don't want to fork over more money than the car is worth especially since i know there are several complaints for the same problem. why not have a recall on at least the airbag part of the problem. *tr

I own a 2007 chevy cobalt included in the nationwide recall. i have been trying for months to have this car' ignition switch replaced in accordance with the recall, however both chevy and the local dealer, ed morse chevrolet have been uncooperative in replacing the ignition switch, providing a date the part will be available or provide a loaner vehicle. i have called and spoke with both gm and ed morse numerous times, however each time met with the same old, stock answer - that it's "ok to drive as long as all other keys/fobs are removed". this answer is not sufficient for me nor will i accept driving the car "as safe". the car, over the years was driven with up to 15 keys on the ring, so whatever damage to the ignition switch occurred, is still present and poses risk at current. i am asking your agency to intervene in this matter. i have put excess miles and wear and tear on my primary car and will incur an additional financial burden since this 2007 cobalt is sitting idle. neither gm or ed morse chevrolet has or will step up to the plate and assist in this matter. i trust your department will assist in my issue. thank you. *tr
