Over the past several months my 2006 chevrolet cobalt engine has been cutting off while driving. it will just cut off down to the battery. it started out by just quitting when i came to a stop and then it graduated to cutting off when driving on interstates while i was going about 70 mph. i have been able to pull off on to the side of the road and restart the car. we thought it may have been water in the gas or that the fuel injector was stopped up, but after running higher octane fuel and using the fuel injector cleaner it still was cutting off. it has gotten progressively worse going from maybe once or twice a week to almost everyday. it would not do it for a couple of weeks and then it would start doing it again. we finally took it to a shop and they said that it could be the fuel injector or the o2 sensor going bad. after replacing both of these components, the car is still doing the same thing. my car has a little over 120,000 miles on it and has been regularly maintained. my mother bought her car around the same time i did. it is also a cobalt but a 2007 model and it has just started doing the same thing. *tr

I see there are issues on the fuel module on the 2006 chevy cobalts, and i took it to get replaced however when i take my car to get diagnosed it continues to say there is something with a misfire, and my fuel evaporating. i am having multiple problems with my 06 cobalts and has i have done extenuous research and every problem i've found online over 1000 complaints and blogs, and sites where customers are all complaining about the same issue. i am a working college student and drive to work and school everyday. my car stopped on the freeway the other day, and almost caused an accident however the vehicle slammed on their brakes. not only the fuel line but also my car key does not come out the ignition. all these issues are ongoing and i have found over 10,0000 unsatisfied consumers all with the same issues with the cobalts. this is a big issue, and i am tired of dealing with chevrolet as this is there product and they are only trying to get the money and make you pay for all the services. these are major issues all going out at the same time. *tr

I bought my 2006 chevy cobalt just one year ago, and immediately noticed the failures in the car. anytime that i begin to slow down, the car will begin to idle roughly. the lights will dim then brighten. then the engine will shut off. this happens almost every time i slow down. it has happened in busy intersections almost getting me in wrecks. i have had it checked with multiple mechanics and no one seems to know what is wrong with it. i have researched online and have noticed it is not just my car, but so many other chevy cobalt's of different year models. *tr

Vehicle will not start after it is turned off after a period of driving. this occurs at least 5-10 times a week. the vehicle was taken back to the dealership, bresee chevy in liverpool, ny for this problem, and we were told nothing could be done because the problem could not be replicated. we were told that we had a bad battery cell and were charged for a battery replacement after owning the vehicle for 2 years. the vehicle now has a "engine low power" warning and the engine light is on. the vehicle runs erratically, and there is concern of stalling while driving. this vehicle was purchased brand new in november of 2005, and is only used for commuting to work on the highway. also, the tires on this vehicle were completely bald at 38,000 miles and had to be replaced, and the bearings on the front end also had to be replaced. this vehicle has major problems-it is an overall nightmare! *tr

I have a 2006 chevy cobalt purchased used with 28000 miles on it. all my problems started about a month after i bought the car. the steering wheel started shaking violently when driving at 50 mph and over so i took it in to a chevy dealer and they rotated and balanced the tires and that seemed to fix that problem. about 2 weeks i was driving home and i was sitting at a red light and the car just shut off. i restarted the car and every thing was fine on the dash board, no warning lights or messages in the driver information center. i started driving again and when i press on the gas there was this loud grinding noise and it felt like the car was not shifting gears properly. so i pulled over on the side of the road and turned the car off for about 10 minutes and restarted it and it drove fine. now at this point im just thinking that there is a malfunction in the computer. i took the car to the dealer the next day and they scanned the computer and found no errors and everything was checking out fine. about 3 weeks later i was driving on the highway and i lost complete control of steering and the power steering message in the driver information center was displayed along with the check engine light. unable to steer i had to stop in the middle of the highway and shut the car off. i waited about 20 minutes and restarted the car and the power steering warning message and check engine light had gone away and i gained steering control again. i once again took the car to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong with the car. now some days when i start my car the power steering warning message and the check engine light come on and some days the car drives fine and its really starting to frustrate me. in addition to the steering problem i am unable to remove my key form the ignition. to this day none of my problems have been resolved. *jb

I purchased a 2006 chevy cobalt ss w/ 2.4 liter non-supercharged engine. at about 5,000 miles the car began shaking while braking. i took the car to the dealership and they informed me that the front rotors were delaminated and they machined them down smooth again. this fixed the problem for about another 5-600 miles, then the shaking started again. my car had to go back to the dealer again and they machined them down again without replacing the rotors-they said they just pass inspection. also, they informed me that the head gasket, the valve covers and the exhaust manifold all needed to be replaced. this is the sixth day they had my car and everyday it is something else they find wrong with it. my car only has 15,000 miles on it and is well taken care of. i feel that the braking power of the car is decreased, even after the rotors are "fixed", i fear i may get into an accident because of this and no one at denoyer chevrolet on wolf rd in albany, ny tele#518-458-7700 cares. the person that is updating me with information on my car is jeff winne and he is very rude. i hope this matter can be further investigated to prevent any further injury. *tr
