I was checking to see if there was a recall on a 2003 chevy cavalier fuel pump because i was traveling on the highway and the fuel pump went out costing me almost $800. also the motor for two of my power windows have went out. *tr

I have an '03 chevy cavalier with 45,000 miles. on 11/5/08 trying to get home from work the car would not start. the fuel pump can not be heard when the key is turned to the accessory position. their have been investigations regarding this issue by dot & gm, but no recall. gm is aware that gasoline prematurely corrodes the starter on these models, but has done nothing about it. the cost to replace this part is very high, & the service life of this part should be much greater, especially since it poses a great hazard if it fails while driving. *tr

While driving my 2003 cavalier on sunday 11-2-08, the car shut off and i lost my power steering and brakes with cars behind. it luckily happened before an intersection so i was barely able to pull off the road. anyways my fuel pump went out. now i can't even start my car. i saw there are over 550 complaints, is chevy just waiting for someone to get hurt before they decide to recall this faulty equipment? how many complaints do they need? while driving at a faster speed and your car shuts off and you lose brakes and power steering, a person will have a pretty severe accident. chevy needs to recall and replace all 2003 cavaliers' fuel pump, people don't have money to waste on this faulty equipment. i pretty much am never buying a chevy again. *tr

The car has been in two accidents. the both were completely repaired, the rear lights have had problems due to poor connections and the fuel pump went out. *tr

Failure of fuel pump while driving on a 2 land highway uphill with a semi truck behind me. due to loss of power, and nowhere to immediately pull off of the roadway, i was slowing quickly and the semi truck driver had to brake hard to avoid rear ending me. was able to find a spot to pull off safely (large ditch on side of road where pump failed initially. *tr

I have a 2003 chevy cavalier with 53,000 miles on it, i have always changed the fuel filters, never let the fuel go under 1/4 tank. one day i was driving, and the car died with no alert. i lost all power, power steering, power assisted brakes, everything in the middle of the road going 60 mph with traffic all around me. i could not press the brakes hard enough to stop the vehicle so i activated my 4-way flashers and coasted off to the side of the road and used my emergency brake to completely stop. i was 10 miles away from my home so i had the vehicle towed to my house until i could figure out what to do with it, that tow bill was $120.00. i am unable to drive to work and loosing about $100 a day and now i will have to tow the vehicle to a repair shop because of this faulty part and spend approximately $900 on a problem that i have read occurs more often than it should. *tr

No start and stall condition on my 2003 cavalier. it started with a no start. after reading on the internet about someone pounding on their fuel tank i attempted this and tried to restart the car and it restarted. this frequency of no starts has increased. recently while driving, the car stalls as if the car is out of gas. once it stalls it will not start. i banged on the bottom of the fuel tank and attempted to restart the car and it would start. the frequency of the stalls also are increasing and occurs when driving regardless of speed. the last stall was on oct. 22, 2008 while traveling at 50 mph. the restarts are becoming more difficult. it now requires one person to turn the ignition while one is under the car pounding on the fuel tank. it appears to be a faulty fuel pump. the engine turns over but appears to not be receiving gas. the fuel filter has already been replaced. *tr

Purchased a 2003 chevy cavalier in sept. 2008 for my daughter to go to college. had a carfax report done and found nothing, clean report. 2 days after purchase, inst. cluster went bad, not working at all. dec. 08 the fuel pump went bad. after researching the internet, i have found thousands of the same complaints as mine. i have even found websites advertising to rebuild the cluster as so many are defective. now if this isn't enough to see the major problem, i don't know what is. i feel that enough information is out on the internet to warrant a recall on both issues before the public has to spend all their money to fix gm's faulty parts that break down so quickly. just these 2 repairs cost $500.00 each. *tr

Manual transmission model - problem began @ 35,000 miles, current miles 38,000. engine rough idles/stalls when clutch is engaged. i was nearly struck by oncoming traffic while turning left when engine stalled after clutch was engaged. lost power steering and breaks, wound up riding over curb and onto sidewalk before vehicle stopped. noone was injured, however this was on a college campus in the evening, had it occurred earlier in the day almost certain pedestrian would have been struck by my out of control car. will be replacing the pump as soon as i can. this is a serious danger to the driver and other drivers on the road. *tr
