The whole front dash has many cracks in it and appears to be danger since pieces are flying off as i drive.

Tl*the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet cavalier. the contact stated that the dashboard had three cracks in it which allowed cold air to enter the vehicle. the failure also caused the windshield to become foggy making visibility poor. there was a crack located on the passenger side vent on the dashboard and the other two cracks were located in the middle of the dashboard by the defrost vent which failed to minimize the fog. the manufacturer stated that the repair cost would be covered but later notified the contact that since the case was closed, the cost would not be covered. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2001 chevrolet cavalier. the contact stated that the dashboard was fractured in six places. he also noticed that the drivers side of the dashboard was caved in. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who offered no assistance. the manufacturer was contacted as well and they advised him that the vehicle was over 10 years old and the failure was just wear and tear. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000. the vin was unavailable. updated 09/08/2011 *ln *tr
The dashboard cracked and i still have not been able to get it fixed i have learned since then that this is a common problem for the chevrolet cavaliers and i worry that if i get into an accident that my airbags wont properly deploy because of the cracked dashboard. now my windshield fogs up causing visibility issues because of the leaks caused by the cracking. *tr
Dash has small crack on passenger side. *jb
Dt: the contact stated that there were two cracks running side by side from the windshield to the passenger side on the dashboard. the contact discovered the problem on october 5, 2005. he was concerned about it because there was an air bag on the passenger's side. the cracked area was where the air bag was located. when he took vehicle to dealer to be looked at they said that everything in the dash area was connected to the dashboard. the cracked part of the dashboard was loosening from the rest of the dashboard. *ak
2001 chevrolet cavalier developed problems with the brakes and the engine.***no answer required***. *mr while turning the steering wheel the consumer heard grinding/rubbing noises intermittently. the fog lamp went out. the brakes were noisy and would stick when applied. water leaking into the trunk. the vehicle wouldn't start and the vehicle check engine light illuminated. the keyless entry system and alarm stopped working. the transmission not shift into low gear. the daytime running light would not shut off. the hvac blower would not work in the first and second speed. the dealer foun air in the brake line and determined that hte lower control arm bushing was falling out
The laminate has come apart from the windshield. this happened several times. the consumer had taken the vehicle to the dealer, however, the problem had not been resolved. *ak *sc
When driving 45 mph left rear door opened. consumer stated that right rear door also opened. consumer will contacted dealer about this issue. *ak
The strip of plastic that runs behind the dashboard, closest to the windshield cracked right down the middle. took it to the dealership and they stated it was probably because of temperature. in order to fix the crack the entire dash would have to be replaced. i use a protectant on my interior and a windsheild shade as well when i leave my car parked. the crack is very unsightly on such a new car and i cannot afford to replace my entire dashboard.*ak

The vehicle's brake drums and rotors wore excessively causing the vehicle to vibrate when the brakes were applied. the trunk light remained on although the trunk was shut. the instrument cluster was drawing too much power and caused the battery to become drained. *ts *nlm
Frame pulling apart at weld on passengers side, below door. it is causing the windshield to "pop" door and window stick shut and gas door sucked in!*ak
