I was driving on i-95 at at approximately 70 mph. i slowed to get off the exit and as i did the engine died and the power steering and brakes were inoperative. luckily i didn't hit anyone. the engine failed again later in the same evening and twice 2 days later on i-95 at 70 mph
While sitting at a stop light for a busy intersection, the check engine light and message appeared with the statements engine power reduced and service stabilitrak. i was able to pull off into a parking lot and shut the car down for a restart. upon restart, the messages continued. i researched my owner's manual in which it said given these messages, the car was safe to drive but needed to be checked out. i attempted to proceed to my destination, however the transmission would not shift into second gear, and the vehicle would top out at approximately 30 mph. while i was in a 55 mph zone, i decided to again pull off the road and contact onstar. my vehicle was towed to the dealer. the following afternoon, the dealership contacted me saying the problem was a bad high-pressure fuel pump. the dealer had a spare fuel pump in-stock, however the fuel line is non-serviceable, and i was told they were on a back-order of 3-5 days. seven days later the dealer called to let me know that gm was re-engineering that fuel line and it could be upwards of a month before the car would be repaired. after a total of 17 days, the car was repaired and everything seems to be back in order. *tr
