While pulling out of parking spaces (usually), the brake will not go down. i have to push the pedal with all my strength to get the car to stop. luckily it always happens in parking lots so the car is only going 5mph at the highest. the dealership said that the brake line had a leak in it. they replaced the line, but the problem still occurs at least once a week. i had them look at it a second time and they said that their machines weren't showing any type of warning about the problem. *tr
I was traveling approximately 35 to 40 mph on a straight road. the vehicle in front of me stopped about 75 feet ahead of me. i pressed on the brake pedal to stop but there was no pressure and it went to the floor. due to having no brakes, i hit the back of the other car. the airbag failed to deploy and i hit my head on the steering wheel. when i reversed the car and pressed on the brakes again they worked. the front end of the car was smashed in damaging the headlights, radiator, hood, bumper, and unknown other parts at this time. *tr
Dt*: the contact stated that the brake pedal was mushy, and when it was depressed, lowered to the same point as the accelerator pedal. this caused the contact to accidentally apply pressure on both pedals. the vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer noted that the rear calipers were not adjusting. the dealer lubricated and adjusted the calipers, which did not completely fix the problem. updated 8/16/2006 - *nm
Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet aveo. while driving approximately 50 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal. the vehicle failed to slow down. after several attempts, the vehicle came to a complete stop. there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they stated that the vehicle was performing as normal. on a separate occasion, the rotors, brake pads, brake shoes, and brake drums were replaced. the failure mileage was 26,400 and current mileage was 64,500. updated 10/16/08. *lj the consumer stated the brakes wil stop the vehicle, but the traeel in the pedal was the issue. the brake pedal travelled almost 3 inches before the brakes even began to slow the vehicle down. the brakes would then slow the car. the consumer stated he had spoken to other dealers who stated the issue was between the brake pedal and the brake booster. updated 10/17/08. *jb
Dt*: the contact stated while the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle shook. the dealership replaced the rear drums three times, resurfaced the rear drums, and replaced the brake system. these efforts have not corrected the shaking problem. updated 05/16/2006.*ak *nm
Dt: the consumers vehicle had brake failure on four different occasions. when applying the brakes there was no braking capability. this happened only when the vehicle was in reverse ,and after the vehicle had been parked overnight. the service dealer could not duplicate the problem to determine the cause of the brake failures. *ak the consumer stated there has been 2 more brake failures. updated 11/29/05. *jb
Car type: chevrolet aveo 2005 model: ls sedan with 14" wheels since i purchased this car it has exhibited vibration in the front end and steering wheel while driving (above 50 mph) as well as vibration while braking. car was taken into chevy to be repaired. car still vibrates. upon further research i discovered that many others have this exact problem. chevy has been unable to fix this problem. significant vibration while driving and braking (especially) is a safety hazard. since chevy is either unwilling or unable to fix this serious problem i'm hoping the nhtsa will investigate this problem. *jb
