Tl* the contact owns a 2011 cadillac srx. while using the remote key fob, the hatch failed to operate. the hatch had to be opened manually and would close independently. on one occasion, the hatch closed on the contact's head, but there were no injuries. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the liftgate pump needed to be replaced and the hydraulic arms were leaking on the driver's side. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact called an unknown cadillac dealer and notified them of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 cadillac srx. while the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, water entered the front passenger side of the vehicle from underneath the dashboard. an unknown cadillac dealer in reedsburg, wisconsin was made aware of the failure, but could not determine the source of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

I was parked in a residential driveway and opened the rear liftgate to remove my son's hockey bag from the back. i was leaning in pretty far because the bag had slid toward the backseat, when the liftgate closed on its own. i had not pressed any buttons, no one else was in the vehicle or around. the liftgate hit me in the back and pushed me forward as it continued to close. i was pinned (with half of my body in the car and half out of the car) and the door was continuing to close. my left arm was stuck under me. i was eventually able to turn slightly and used my right arm and right hip to try to opn the hatch. it did eventually start to open. i was relieved and took a deep breath and then started to retrieve the hockey back when i realized it had closed again. this time was even worse as i was completely pinned. i tried to rotate and use my right hip again. i honestly though my car was going to kill me. the door did eventually open again and that time i immediately got out of the car. i watched as the hatch opened and then immediately closed again. (thankfully, without me in it this time.) i immediately called my dealership. they made an appointment for me in one week, so i did not use the hatch again. i also called gm customer service as i was very concerned that this could kill someone. the agent said she had never heard of this happening. i later found out that this has happened frequently and that the right strut in my liftgate would be the problem. sure enough the dealer confirmed the problem and repaired it at my expense. now, gm has passed me from agent to agent and has done nothing for me. they said that i "have an obligation and responsibility to ensure that the subject vehicle and its related components are maintained and preserved in their immediate post-incident condition.." i had it fixed becasue it would be irresponsible not to.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 cadillac srx. while raining, the well in the rear of the vehicle filled with water, which flooded the rear electrical system in the rear of the vehicle. the failure resulted in the liftgate not functioning. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the electronic modules in the rear of the vehicle failed and needed to be repaired. the manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was previously serviced per a manufacturer's communication (g-208314) and further assistance would not be provided. the failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

On several occasions, the hatchback liftgate opened by itself. then it would not open at all which doesn't allow any access to the rear cargo area where flat tire repair gear is located. i then determined that the expensive electrical liftgate mechanism became submerged in water from sunroof drain tubes that fail to drain rain to the ground. a further look revealed that the front seat and rear seat floor mats were saturated where electrical cables are routed. can you provide me with a copy of nhtsa reference # 10078604 or tsb reference # pic-5260-a or any other information why general motors hasn't recalled cadillacs with this unsafe condition.

The tail gate will open when the button is pressed but unexpectedly falls striking anyone in the head when putting something in the back end or taking out of the backend. because the struts fail that hold the gate open. this is the same type of recall as 15v415000 that was issued 6/30/2015 for the gmc acadia, chevy traverse, saturn outlook, buick enclave that was manufactured during the same period as the srx. this started last year but the dealer said i would have to take care of it even though it failed fairly early in the cars life.

7/24/15 had sunroof serviced for recall.interior wet moldy, even hat in seat web. 7/26/15 could not open rear lift gate..dealer could repair for half rhe $1,200 cost, since the mileage was over 4 year warranty but had less than 48,000 mi. could hear water after any rain.dealer admitted problem with sunroof was cause, but not covered.other fuses also located in rear block, fuel pump, wiper, rear windows..cannot open lift gate even manually.so no access to spare, etc.called cadillac customer care many times ,but they will not admit an obvious safety and design defect. nor has ther been any advice not to operate or park during rain,or how to prevent further damage.

Automatic rear door opened after i closed it; consequently i unknowingly rammed in to the garage door as i backed out of my garage and afterward it continued to open as i tried to close it. this is not the first time this has happened. a few months ago on vacation the bell hop was helping to pack my luggage and the door kept trying to shut on him (3x), it nearly crushed him. this recent incident did serious damage to the vehicle and minimal damage to the garage door. *tr

2011 cadillac srx. consumer states that the blind spot off the right quarter panel has almost caused him to be in three accidents. *kb

2 problems continue to persist. one is the location of the hood release handle near the floor inside left side, where the driver puts his left foot on the floor while driving. moving the foot back, the left sole edge will catch the handle and release it causing the hood to pop up to the safety catch. at high speeds i'm afraid of the safety catch failing allowing the hood to pop open causing an accident. secondly; this vehicle has too many blind spots that can easily cause a serious accident. the roof post between the drivers door and rear passenger is a good example of what i mean. a vehicle can be almost along side of you, out of site and you wont see it unless you turn your head around almost looking backwards.the mirror does not pick up the vehicle until it's nose is by my door. that move creates another problem of hitting some one up ahead. i have not notified the dealer because i don't expect they will do any thing; from past experience i know. car was purchased at otto cadillac albany, ny. *tr
