Problems with 1999 Cadillac DeVille VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 cadillac deville. the contact stated that while driving at 20 mph the vehicle accelerated independently. the contact mentioned that the throttle became inoperable. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the throttle body became stuck. the dealer was not notified. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance. the failure and the current mileage was 138,000.

Pulling into a parking stall three-fourths in, just coasting foot not on brake or accelerator, my car suddenly accelerated and hit the concrete wall at the end of the parking space. this was unintended sudden acceleration. car towed to anderson cadillac, unsafe to drive. they checked codes and found nothing. car sent to body shop. $3000 damage to front end. *jb

Multiple occasions where the accelerator pedal sticks. pressing on the pedal harder will free up the pedal but leads to jerking and unpredictable acceleration. dealer says this is a very common failure and they have no permanent fix. *nm

Consumer states a faulting idle control valve causing vehicle to speed up instead of slowing down. dealer notified. *ak

While driving 25-30 mph rpms went up and vehicle started to accelerate. consumer applied brake, then shifted to neutral. rpms then went to 45000. consumer applied brakes to slow down vehicle. dealer could not find cause. this happened a second time on july 23, 2002.*ak the problem of vehicle accelerating when brake was applied occurred again but the dealer was unable to find the cause. *yh

Consumer states air bag warning light came on, he immediately took vehicle in to be inspected and was advised by dealership there was nothing wrong, according to the service manager they reset an indicator to solve the problem, then on 04/13/01 while driving on expressway, the driver's side air bag deployed without warning, causing consumer to lose control of vehicle and swerve into another lane erratically, consumer is requesting that every air bag be re-certified or replaced and a complete safety inspection. *jb

While pressing the acclerator pedal vehicle would not acclerate. but when occupant presses gas pedal "hard" vehicle takes off which may cause a collision. been to dealer twice. dealer replaced the throttle cable, but problem is still occurring. please provide further information. *ak

While driving slowly with foot on brakes, all of a sudden engine started to race and go forward. consumer felt only way to stop vehicle was to shut car off.*ak the problem occured twice, but the manufacturer was unable to duplicate the problem. *yh

Dash lights continuously stay on. abs/cruise control malfunctioned. also, there are noises which come from body of vehicle. information system does not work properly. *ak right front hub replaced. strut mount replaced. *slc
