February 14, 2020 is just the last date it has happened on. it's happened approximately 30 times. for the past two years if you don't just ease on the gas the reduced engine light and traction control light comes on and the car will not go over 5 m.p.h. i have read several hundred articles online on different websites with people describing the exact same thing. it almost got me hit on the ms. river bridge the other day. if u have to go up any type of incline it does it also. i was accelerating slowly as i possibly could going up the small incline on the bridge that connects louisiana and mississippi. all of a sudden the reduced engine power light came on and i could not get out of traffic that was doing approximately 55 m.p.h. and my two year old grandson was in the backseat. the only way to fix it temporarily is to get off the bridge because there is no where to pull to the side of the bridge. you have to kill the car for a few seconds and recrank it. i've had mechanics look at it and i've had it hooked to the computer at o'reillys. no one can tell me anything. but if it weren't a safety recall why would almost 1,000 vehicles that i know of be doing the same thing. you can google it and see that i'm telling the truth. lots of these cars have the identical problem. i'm currently looking for a newer model between 2014-2018, but i'm afraid of having the same or a similar problem. this is definitely a recall. but it seems to me that you all do not want to do any recalls on these cadillacs. i've been to lots and lots of websites and i have not found anyone who's been able to figure out the problem. even the ones that have had it put in the dealership have still yet to figure out the problem. it has to be electrical or one or more sensors malfunctioning. thank you for your time.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. while driving 35 mph, the contact smelled fuel inside the vehicle. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to ritchey cadillac (located at 932 n nova rd #101, daytona beach, fl 32117, (386) 675-1019) where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified. the failure mileage was 73,271. *bf consumer stated gm models 2006,2007 and 2008 were recalled but cadillac should have been recalled.*jb

I took my car to have it service and the technician said the gas tank is leaking from the top. my car is a awd and this will be a costly repair. why is there not a recall on a dangerous common problem? thanks

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. the contact smelled fuel in the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that fuel was leaking from the fuel pump on top of the fuel tank. the dealer (cadillac of arlington, 2001 n collins st, arlington, tx 76011) was made aware of the failure, but could not assist. the manufacturer was not contacted. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was 115,000.

Our vehicle was stationary in the driveway of our home. in the middle of the night the vehicle caught on fire and exploded multiple times. fire report/investigation list cause as unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. the contact noticed a strong fuel odor in the vehicle without warning. the odor was affecting the contact's breathing. the dealer provided no odor testing and the failure worsened after the timing belt was replaced. the manufacturer provided no solution. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. while the vehicle was parked, there was a strong fuel odor coming from the vehicle. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v542000 (fuel system, gasoline). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 50,000. the vin was not available.

The car smells really bad like gas at the rear of car from gas tank underneath car and looks like a leak from top can not see were from exactly.

14v542000 was a recall on 2004-2007 cadillac cts for fuel leak above the tank. this 2008 model has the very same/similar leak and is not included in the recall? why not? same problem, very dangerous. numerous complaints it looks like if you search internet about the 2008 cadillac cts fuel leak.

The problem started with the timing chain, which led to coil issues and catalytic converters issues which led to low head beams constantly burning out. everytime work is done it causes a chain reaction to other parts in the car that requires more and more money. now the engine light is still on and i am told that since the first catalytic converter was repaired, the second one now needs replacing and the low head beam on the passenger side has wiring issues that will not allow the new bulb to burn, i am told that the wiring appears to be spliced. the catalytic converter was replaced in april and so was the low beam bulb. headlight was replaced in april, 2015 it is not working today and was told by dealership that the wiring had been spliced or burned out. radio speakers do not work and all was centered around issues with coils and catalytic coverters.

The fuel pump fuel feed line has developed a leak and is spraying fuel creating a fire hazzard. on top of the tank sits the fuel pump. on the fuel pump the feed tube connects to the fuel line which then goes to the engine. this leak created a fuel odor and got progressively worse. i found dampness on top of the tank, which was gasoline. upon my further investigation i noticed the fuel spraying out of a pin hole sized crack. this is similar to a recall issued on other gm vehicles in the past and i feel the cadillac cts should be included. i've notice other people having the same issues via an online search at cadillac web forums. i performed the repair myself but it is a very labor intensive and expensive repair for a non capable person if done by a dealer or repair shop. we are talking about a 6 hour job because the rear frame, differential, exhaust etc must be removed to access the gas tank. a major issue and safety risk in my view. the leak will occur whenever the car is on as well as off since the fuel system is under pressure. when car was parked - my garage smelled like gas the leak was so bad. ** i have photos and video and will upload at a later time. ** this car is a perfectly maintained vehicle and still appears brand new - no abuse or other issues caused this defect in the fuel pump module.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. while driving various speeds, the odor of fuel was present inside the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that fuel was leaking from the top of the fuel tank. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Vehicle refused to start multiple times after refueling. had a diagnosis done and the code was for the evaporator sensor. i had it replaced and the same thing happened again, to include the same code. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. while the vehicle was parked, a strong odor of fuel emitted from the exterior of the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 126,000.

Car was towed to dealer. repairs findings included a melted fuel pump harness and fuel pump inoperative as a result. i feel under certain circumstances the results could have been catastrophic resulting in damage, injury, or possible death. *tr

Every time i put gasoline in my car, it does not automatically start. i have to try 2 or 3 times. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 cadillac cts. the contact stated that while park, fuel fumes emitted in and around the vehicle. the failure recurred multiple times. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. the technician was unable to locate the failure. the vehicle has not been repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

First incident: when driving, engine would loose power, engine light on, fuel pump replaced second incident: two weeks later, driving car and engine shuts down, no power, no brakes, no power steering, gas mileage to empty was at 68 miles. replaced fuel gauges third incident: one week after replaced fuel gauge, engine shut down while driving, no brakes, no power steering, and gas mileage read out was 69 miles. fortunately, we were at a standstill in the middle of the road and the car restarted, went to gas station, filled the car with gas, it took 14.7 gallons, the cts gas capacity is 18 gallons. dealer doesn't know what the problem is. just waiting for a solution. this is a major safety concern that needs immediate attention. *tr

I was traveling at 25mph when there was a sudden very loud explosive/grinding noise(it brought people running out of adjacent buildings). i hit my brakes immediately, but the noise continued until i put it into park. i exited the car and under the rear axle of my vehicle were multiple large bolts and screws lined up in a row. the vehicle was totally disabled, and subsequently was towed to the dealer. they determined that all the rear axle bolts just fell out at once.there was no other damage found to the vehicle. my concerns remain as to "why did this happen" and "what if i had been going at an accelerated rate of speed"? multiple experienced mechanics and specialist (including cadillac) have no answers to these questions and have never seen this happen before. *tr
