Tl* the contact owns a 2006 cadillac cts. upon accelerating from a red light, the vehicle could only accelerate to 15 mph. the contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that there was fluid emitting from the radiator. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence where an independent mechanic diagnosed that the fitting detached from the radiator. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 70,000.

Driving on the freeway and the car just died on me in the middle of the highway. had to get it towed to the shop found out it was the timing chain. *tr

I have read numerous complaints for the same issue i am reporting on the internet on various websites. the dealership mechanics can't determine the issues and something has to be done! the first time i experienced the problem i was slowly (less than 5mph) turning the steering wheel in the right direction into a parking space and the vehicle would not stop, it jumped the sidewalk, but stopped before hitting the building. i had the vehicle looked at by mechanics at the dealership and they were unable to replicate, but would guess manifold gasket, that?s a lot of money for a guess fix that may not resolve the problem. the issue has happened numerous times since; yesterday it happened while in reverse (turning wheel to the left under 5 mph) i thought i wasn't going to ever stop! http://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/comment/4050860 list a lot of people saying the same issue happened to them and the dealership mechanics have guessed fixes from wheel hubs to loose radiator hoses, but the problem continues after the guess fix. until someone gets deathly injured behind this issue, i don't think cadillac is taking it seriously. the other common problems traction engaging (light comes on) when making turns at higher speeds (over 5mph) may be related to this issue. this has happened with me and my family in the vehicle, everyone is aware of the issue, the dealership (which appears clueless as many others do) as well as a local reputable family owned auto mechanic business in my community. i need to know what it takes for this issue to be diagnosed and fixed, before something tragic happens to me. thank you. 2006 cad cts-frustrated owner (dealership has milked me dry and still experience same issues, already paid dealership in the last year: passenger airbag light ($495) rear differential ($600+) and now possibly spending $600+ on a defect fix guess ? manifold ). *tr

I took my 2006 cadillac cts into a gm dealer for a recall. they also changed the oil. ever since they changed the oil, my car has been burning an excessive amount of oil. i had to put a quart of oil or more about every 500 miles. i put in 1 1/2 quarts on a wednesday and on a monday my car began making a loud knocking sound in the engine. gm will not listen to me and now my car probably needs a new motor. i have babied the car and this is not my fault. oil is in the car at all times and it should not throw a rod with oil. *tr

Timing chain broke while cruising on highway, 70mph. incident caused catastrophic engine failure requiring entire engine replacement, $8500.00. odometer 66,998. 2006 cadillac cts, 3.6l v6 engine, rwd. *tr

My 2006 cadillac cts with a 3.6l v6 started burning oil excessively at about 25,000 miles. it now has about 31,000 miles and burns a quart every 800 miles. i drive about 6500 miles per year, mostly in short distance city driving. the car still drives well and it still passes the texas vehicle inspection which includes emissions testing. the oil gets black quickly after a change. this oil consumption is excessive for such a low mileage car. *tr

My 06 cadillac cts had less than 35000 miles on it and less than 3,000 on an oil change when i noticed the oil level was below the reading marks on the dipstick. no drips on the ground. after researching i discovered their spec is to burn 1 quart per 1000 miles (1 quart per 500 miles if aggressively driven). i took the car in for an evaluation to see if it hit their "specs", and the service manager performed an oil change, and set me up for a reinspection at 2,000 miles. when i went in he checked the oil level, and it was low, i asked where the level should have been on the dipstick and he gave me a range. if the consumption rate is so specific, shouldn't the test for consumption have strict guidlelines about where the dipstick readings should be? i have owned almost exclusively gm vehicles for most of my adult life. even in the ones i've kept for 150,000 miles plus, i have never had even one of them leak let alone burn oil at this rate. in 3000 miles, i have to put 2 quarts of oil in this vehicle, and that's normal. it may not be a safety issue, at least until my car engine seizes on the highway from lack of oil, but it is def something that needs to be addressed by gm. *tr

Had used 1 qt oil in 5,000 miles on previus oil change and now has used 2.5 qts in 4,000 miles. *tr

(1) normal driving (2) rear differential leak and whine; coolant leak from the radiator (3) going to the dealer tomorrow. *nm
