The following was sent to gm in response to their letter of sept 2016 we just received a letter from gm that borders on being stupid. the letter tells us the accelerator pedal stalk may break off, rendering the vehicle inoperative. it goes on to tell us not to take the vehicle to the dealer unless we believe the vehicle has this problem. please explain how this belief process works prior to a disabling failure? surely gm has identified what production dates had the defective part installed. what are supposed to do, wait until we are left stranded by the part breaking. please rethink and revise the instructions you sent out. i expect more explicit instructions. i will be sharing my concerns with the federal regulatory authorities
