Continuing failure of power windows regulators in 2000 buick lesabres. i have replaced four regulators since purchasing a 2000 buick lesabre in 2003. the design of the parts is faulty and they can fail at any time. when a window suddenly drops down in traffic, the resulting distraction is a safety issue. this is shoddy design and irresponsible manufacture and design. *tr
I drive a gm 2000 buick lasabre and have had 3 out of the 4 electric windows go down and not go back up again. i have only been able to afford to get 1 fixed so far because it is the entire actuator and motor system that needs to be replaced and it costs $500 for each window. please recall these windows and replace them with windows that work. *tr

July 2007 my rear window stopped working. i opened the door panel and one of the parts was completely off and broken in half. 3 months later, the same thing happened to my front passenger window. then 1 week ago, my rear passenger window did the same exact thing. i've owned a buick lesabre before and it was over 10 years old before the motor went out on only one window. i've spoken with other owners of the same make and model and the same thing happened to their windows. i'd understand if it were one window, but three windows and the same exact problem isn't right. is there something you can do to fix it? *tr
Purchased a used buick lesabre limited 2000. found that the front right power window was failing. the window regulator doesn't work, and the window repeatedly falls down, must be pulled up with both hands. looked in http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_52823.html, and found there were dozens of repeating window regulators failures reported in this model , buick lesabre limited 2000-2005. this was a consistent and persistent problem that cost about $400 per repair, and may be it was about time this be dealt with seriously by the nhtsa.*ak

2000 buick lasbre rear windows break requiring repeated repairs. evident from collected post on internet. cost to repair in thousands even though part cost $75. *tr
The window regulators on my 2000 buick lesabre failed today. now my window will not go up or down and is down all the way. normally for child safety it is still partially up. even though i keep my back windows "locked" causing them to be used infrequently it failed. today is the second time in the last year+ the same regulator has failed. buick needs to stand behind this as i see countless complaints online and the fact that the window now goes all the way down is a child safety hazard. the cost to repair is said to be $400+ per window. *tr

During normal operation, my electric windows have stopped working due to faulty cords in the window regulator motors. the windows slide down into the car door and will not come back up. i 've had to drive to dealership with the windows down to get the part replaced. i have had to replace all four window regulators in my car at my expense. the latest incident occurring on april 18, approximately one month after the third of four to fail on march 27. the dealer acknowledges that there is a problem with the window design but gm has not recalled the part. *tr

Power window mechanisms will fail causing the window to drop and shatter. type of car is 2000 buick lesabre. this has happened 3 times on different windows in the same vehicle. the car currently has less than 12,000 miles on it. the third occurrence was the most serious and occurred while driving on the highway when the drivers side window dropped on its own and shattered. it seemed like the window was shot out. buick said it was normal ware and charged $450 to repair. *nm
Owner of a 2000 buick lesabre. all four electric windows has been replaced several times and continues to stop working. is nhtsa doing anything about it ? *nm
I have owned a 2000 buick lesabre for 2 1/2 years. i have now had (3) door window motors fail during this time period. the cost for repair is over $400 each! *nm
Window regulator failure on all four windows, and again for each front window, resulting in inoperable window, the latest failure was today. all other failures were within the last two years. *nm
Tl*the contact owns a 2000 buick lesabre. over the past year, all four vehicle windows would not roll back up because the mechanisms failed. the windows failed in the following order: rear driver side, rear passenger side, front passenger side, and most recently, the front driver side. the contact took the first window to the dealer to be repaired at her expense. she believed the regulators in the windows were causing the failures. the purchase date was unknown. the current mileage was 100,000 and failure mileage was approximately 90,000. updated 02-14-08. *kb updated 02/14/08 *tr
Front passenger window does not operate. rear driver's side window does not operate. safety issue with children in car etcetera. window dropping down without warning. dealer stated there is a "wide range" of window issues with the buick lesabre model 2000-2005. no dealer recall issued. $600 for repair - many complaints all over the internet. gm/buick should recall parts. *nm
Power window failure. back driver's side window would not close after being opened. this is the fourth window regulator which had to be replaced on this vehicle. every window regulator has been replaced at the buick dealership. the cost for each incident is over $300. asked service technician if a redesigned part or the same parts were being used. they stated the same parts were being used and this is biggest problem with these vehicles. what upsets me the most is the regulators over time will have to be replaced again. the same defective parts are being used. buick knows this is an issue but has done nothing about it. *jb
I have a 2000 buick lesabre that has had window regulators failures on the drivers side window and right-hand rear window in the past two months. the car has 65,000 miles on it. i have had to have them replaced. *jb
3 of the 4 windows in my buick lesabre (2000) stopped working.i have come to find out this is a normal problem and i believe buick should fix it. *tr
Both rear windows drop for no reason and do not come back up. they must be manually pulled up and secured. repair is $400 per window. *jb
Power window problems. noise was heard when lowering and one knew something was wrong. window would not raise back up. one window would jerk when lowering; it would not lower smoothly (rear passenger window). *jb driver and passenger front window regulators and rear passenger regulator had to be replaced out of original manufacturer warranty. in both front window incidents on repair order it was stated that the regulator cable was broken not allowing window to move up. incidents did not all happen at the same time.
Twice in 6 months the window regulator has broken. *jb
Left passenger window dropped down, regulator needs to be replaced; this is a pretty obvious malfunction of the regulators since what it holds the glass is a very delicate plastic part. i have done so much research about the same problems with this type of issues from model's years ranging 2000-2004. nothing seems to be done to solve or better improve the part that causes the window glass to drop down.*jb
We have had to replace all four power window motors. the first one, we made the mistake of taking it to a dealer and it cost around $400-$500. the others we ordered the part and replaced it ourselves which cost around $100-$150 depending on the window. now, the one we replaced two years ago is broke again. this needs to be recalled. if a child just happened to be in the car on the side the window broke on, there could be serious injury. gm needs to recall this unless they want a lawsuit on their hands! *tr
Last friday when i was trying to roll up my rear passenger side window i heard a pop and it stopped working. i tried pulling the window up by hand for safety reasons and it will not stay up. after doing some research on the internet it seems to be a common problem with buick lesabre's. it's a very expensive problem...about $600 to replace!! if you do a search on the internet for "buick lesabre window problems" you can read how common this is and i think this is definitely a recall issue. *jb
2000 buick lesabre 38000 miles. window rolled down and heard a pop. window will not roll up anymore. looked it up online. i looked up this problem online and it is a very common very known problem. it costs about $400 dollars to repair. for many different people who have had this problem please see this web page. http://www.carsurvey.org/viewcomments_review_52823.html needs a recall very badly. *jb
Window fell to inside of door and could not be brought up. found to be regulator/motors for electric windows on buick lesabre failed. had to be brought to dealer for new regulator/motor. also, not an uncommon problem. *jb
Dt*: the contact stated without warning the rear passenger and both driver side windows fall down on their own due to power control failure. the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop where the window regulators were replaced.
Have a 2000 buick lesabre (custom) both regulators (passenger and driver side) on the rear windows have failed. the first was in november of 2005 and the second was august of 2006. both regulators were replaced by the dealer under the extended warranty. in both cases, the windows were down and would not go up. *jb
I have a 2000 buick lesabre limited that has constant failures in the power window system. i have personally replaced all 4 mechanisms due to windows that either drop down unexpectedly or fail to roll up or down. i continue to suffer from the same problem even with the new mechanisms. this has caused among other things, water damage to the interior of the car as the window would not close. *tr
Bought 2000 lesabre new in oct 1999. wife's car and only has 69000 mi on it now. no children using the car. no children at home, rarely any passengers in the car. now..to date all four window regulators have been replaced at a total cost of over $1,600.00. the driver's side window went first in 2003, in 2006 all three remaining window went out within months of each other, these windows almost never were used! it is hard for me to believe that there aren't more incidents of these regulator failures. i can't be the one that got all the bad regulators. *nm
Dt*: the contact stated the rear passenger power window motor regulator failed to operate while the window was half open. the window would not close. this was the 3rd time, the power window regulator motor had failed. the service dealer and manufacturer were notified. updated 9/13/2006 - the driver's side window regulator failed twice and the rear driver's side window regulator failed once. *nm
Power window failures. *nm
The lack of quality outlined in my 2000 buick lesabre's window regulators, my vehicle currently has 74k miles and both right side windows have left my family exposed to the outside environments. i have researched this issue on-line and it appears to be a huge problem buick & gm have overlooked, i will expect a response from the manufacture to insure this is not a problem designed to help improve sales through the dealers. thanks for your investigation into this issue! *jb
