Audi tt 2002 dash pod recalled in ireland and britain. interference and erratic performance with instrument gauges and lights. i am having same problem and vehicle only has 30k miles. can result in unexpected shut down on highway. dealer says car computer does not indicate any problems and customer, me, ends up paying for each malfunctioning component as just "normal wear and tear". *tr
Instrument cluster failure in dash, temperature gauge reading hot when car isn't warmed up. display lights nearly unreadable. need new instrument cluster at the cost of $1100 from the dealer. *tr
Cluster went out on 2002 audi tt at under 21000 miles, four months shy of being covered by audi. *tr
My instrument cluster on my 2002 audi tt has several problems. the digital display in the center of the counsel has several burnt out pixels and makes reading outside temperature and time difficult. also the fuel gauge no longer displays the correct fuel level. *tr
2002 audi tt - major electrical problems with the in dash computer. battery goes dead while driving and all indicator lights come on. speedo and all instruments go dead. *tr
Audi tt instrument cluster is out at 38,000 miles. no gauges for anything: rpms, gas, miles, speed.... same issue warranted a recall for audi uk, why not here?? cost is nearly $1200 dollars to fix!! sits at dealership now. *tr
2002 audi tt had instrument cluster replaced @41,000 miles when i bought the car in january 2007. recently, the battery went dead after sitting 5 days. when it was restarted and the battery recharged, the instrument cluster is acting up again. i understand that this is a very normal occurrence in these cars. the problem can (and has) caused the speedometer to stop working. there is now 45,00 miles on this car. *tr
Instrument cluster is not reading correctly. the gas gauge will read at the half marker when there is a full tank. and the main electronic cluster is faded and it will not display completely. *tr
The instrument cluster on my 2002 audi tt roadster began to fail in august 2007. by the end of the summer, not one number on the panel could be read...it was in complete failure. because of the failure i cannot drive my car at all because i would have no idea of how much gas i had nor would i know at what rate of speed i was traveling. there was a class action lawsuit on this issue which was settled this year and i received notification of it in april 2008...which, at the time of receipt placed my car outside of the six year limitation period...even though the car is a 2002 and the panel failed last year. i am being told that my car will not be repaired by audi of america unless i pay the $1,300.00 charge to have it fixed. this is an audi problem and they are trying to turn it into my problem. this is a very expensive car which is never driven in the snow and is a "garage queen". i can't drive it and now, i can't even sell it...who would want to buy it? it is unsafe to drive and i would not take it onto the highway without the instrument cluster working. i cannot afford to have it repaired, therefore, i have an expensive little car sitting in my garage which cannot even be used. what should i do? *tr updated 06/10/08
2002 audi tt developed numerous mechanical problems.*mr the windows made noise when being rolled downs, the dealer replaced the regulator. the turn signal relay was defective which caused the flasher relay to make noise. the component was replaced twice. the left front maker light bulb blew. the brake light illuminated on the dash. the dealer determined that the front pads and rear rotors needed to be replaced. a few day later the brake light illuminated again. this time the dealer replaced the abs unit. while driving the check engine illuminated. the dealer replaced the coolant temp sensor. ignition coils failed twice causing the check engine light to illuminate. the radio lost power. the check engine light illuminated again but this time the dealer replaced the mass air flow sensor. the horn stopped working. the rear differential unit was replaced. breather hose split. right tie rod end became worn and caused noise. the dealer found loose subframe bolts during inspection which caused the subframe to move while driving over bumps and while braking. *nm
Tl*the contact owns a 2002 audi tt. while driving at an unknown speed, the instrument panel lights faded out and the odometer and fuel gauge readings were inaccurate. after a few days, the instrument panel display was completely illegible. also, the contact had to make several attempts to start the vehicle. once it started, the vehicle would stall moments later. the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they replaced the instrument cluster for free because it was under warranty. currently, the vehicle is experiencing the same failures, but the vehicle is no longer under warranty. the contact would be responsible for the repair costs. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 4,267 and current mileage was 26,400. updated 06/02/08 *bf updated 06/02/08 *tr
Direct ignition coil failure due to cold weather. lost one coil on a cold day and was told by my service advisor that this was common and that audi was already redesigning the unit. they replace only the bad coil as they had been instructed too due to lack of spare parts. very unhappy that i will be driving a vehicle that will have 3 more potential problems waiting to happen.
